UK Trials Talk

Hi there Today i saw three lads riding in the old stone quarry at Calverley In West Yorksire, I was working there a the time and was just wonering if they were on here or if anyone knew who they were. I's just to let them know it's being fenced off next week. As we all know land to practice on is few and far between, im going to speak to my boss and find out if i can meet with genuine trials riders (not people on MX bikes wanting to rip up the golf course) and carry on responsibly riding there. Living in Blandford Forum and looking for practice place cant seem to track one down

I'm looking where to get 1 or 2 large wooden cable drums near Southampton. Would anybody know? I would be able to go and pick them up and i am prepared to pay for them (but not silly amounts). I don't mind whether they're used, but i don't reallt want to my from a drum manufacturer as they will be expensive as they are gonna get beat up from the bikes anyway. Anybody have any advice? If anybody also know where to get palletts for free near Southampton aswell that would be great.

So, with Doug out Dibs should win but others? Price or J Peace should be next favourite, but is it a wildcard year? Sadler, Kendrew? Cant see it being anyone else. Moors will be very wet, but forecast for the day looks dry and cool.

A piece of land bought and paid for by the Yorkshire Post for Motor sport. Taken over during the war and not given back to the club. Now Leeds City council seem to like messing anybody using it for anything but dog walking and locals using it as a "party" venue. Sorry but the "war Dept" and the land they requisitioned needs to be sorted out. too many people lost out and the use of the area by passing to to "local" authorities has lead to loss of amenities. Allowing building on this area is just not in keeping with it's original use.

Trials world magazine any one seen it? what do you think? will it last?

That's me just home from the Scott. Results won't be online till much, much later - possibly not till tomorrow, but what I can tell... Dougie's bike packed up early on so he's out of the running. Dabill was first back followed by Grimbo then Fuji. Don't know which of them set standard time, but it will come down to penalties. Photos online later

Can I please just say that the so called Addingham Moorside where they are the disputes about the land riding rights is not actualy called (Addingham Moorside). It has bugged me for years now and I have lived in Silsden all my life along with other generations and it is most deffinetly not called the Addingham Moorside. For starters it isnt actualy on the Addingham side of the moor, it is on the Silsden side. Addingham Moorside is actualy sighn posted about a mile further down the road towards Addingham. As a club organiser, we put on 5 trials a year and raise a decent sum in funds for the ACU. Ok, some goes in insurance but all of it dont. Like most clubs, The Chairman & myself dont take any expenses and I was thinking that as we provide a source of funds to the ACU that wouldnt otherwise be there if we didnt organise trials, it would be good if we got something back in return. I'm not asking for much and the yearly registration fee being paid would be rather nice I reckon for all senior officials of a club down to a certain level. What do other organisers think?

Hi, This year i will be competing in my first scott, i went and watched last year and was suprises at just how tiring it looked and also how greatly it is supported up there. Iv write this topic to try and get some advice from previous scott riders on a few things. First of all, what would you recomend carrying with you on the bike, any bike mods or setup changes and also what clothing is reomended? Any help would be great. Cheers Virgin scott'er

It appears that there is a distinct possibility of two clubs locally folding due to a lack of people coming forward to shoulder the load and or help out with the organisation etc. I have offered to do what little i can but it takes more than just one person and that is the problem. We all lead busy lives and we all have our own pressures on our time and resourses. However it will be a sad day indeed if either or both of these clubs fold due to lack of interest. It's not that there are a lack of entries more that the organisational duties are left to the same old few and in one case just two people. Well over two years on.. And I've still not got a penny back from Mark Kemp. There are many more like me losing over £2300 pounds. Yes I feel sorry for the staff but Mark Kemp - no. He begged for a larger deposit from people. He took my bike as part ex. We trusted him. He told us face to face how he'd look after us as he took our hard earned money. Some people lost two bikes to his lies. And Harrisons are earning from it as well as Mark still living in his house. I'm sure you will argue how great he still is but I, like many others have been royally screwed. At least take a card payment as a deposit if you know your about to go under rather than lie to people. And to ring…

Going up this weekend, can anyone post any directions if possible, we will be coming from junc15 on the M6 - taking the A53 towards Buxton. Not 100% sure where to turn off the A53 though? do I turn left into the village of Flash and go from there? Any help would be great Many thanks Just

As a CofC I was wondering how to pitch the level of a trial in relation to its level of difficulty whereby everyone gets as much as possible out of the trial. I know you have A & B grade trials which dictate that but even they differ somewhat in their level of difficulty so I am after some customer feedback please I rode a Llanfyllin trial on saturday and there was very little in the way of anything too taxing on the route I rode (Novice) and it was a nice ride round. No injuries for a start and I really enjoyed it. Is this something that other people enjoy or would they prefer it harder? Age also has something to do with it I would suggest. Your thoughts on thi…

have just got a vee rubber radial 400 x 18,will fit it next week at see how it performs on 4th dec club trial.it is an exact copy of a michelin x11,apart from the tread pattern on top of the knobs.the compound seems ok and is only very slightly harder than the x11 but hardly any,the knobs twist easy but the x11 is still a little bit easier to turn but it could be the cold weather. not bad for
