Picked this comment from another thread regarding the Sherco 4T's performance causing Jarvis some lost marks and possibly denying him the win. Firstly, obviously, I am interested in the Sherco 4T as I have stated that if they get it right I would buy another so hearing the above leaves me asking the question is this bike sorted or not? Secondly, How did the Beta 4T do? I know Pascuet done well. Anyone? Thirdly, There were a lot of 4RT's there.. they all seem to have gone well. Anyone with any stories on them worth noting? Lastly, I know that Ross' & Bert's gasser 125's went ok all week and thats some achievement considering the little motor had to work so hard.…

Hi Looking at the results, some riders have like 1100 marks for one day? Looking I see riders score 50 marks for one section? What makes you get a 50? Cheers

can any body tell me how to enter a club team in the trial.

Started trials at 24 - so I’m only doing it for fun but I would like to compete some prestigious trials in a few years to come (been riding a year and a bit) i definitly want to have a go In the ssdt. Don’t really care if I come last as long as I finish;) what sort of a standard do I need to be riding at to comfortably finish the trial?? Is there any other trials that are a good indicator if I’m ready? Won’t be for at least another few years but it’s nice to have goals !!

Hi, I have a question about the SSDT, as an enduro rider I have no problem with the between section going or endurance. My question is, how hard are the sections? I have ridden trials on and off since I was 17, now 50, I now ride trials, both twin shock and modern at clubman level, was expert level in my 20's. I don't mind a struggle. Are most sections ridable for an above average club rider? This trial is on my bucket list. Many thanks in advance Glenn

I was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips for getting a rear tire back on the rim when out on a Scottish moor? I had always thought that should I be unfortunate enough to have the rear come off the rim I would take out the valve and fit the spare front tube in the rear. I thought I would then be able to inflate it with a pump and a CO2 cartridge to get it out onto the rim before letting it down to a more useful pressure to continue riding the sections before getting back to Fort William

Does anyone know what happened to Howard Jackman who rode a 240 Armstrong in the 1984 SSDT? He may have been a works rider.

So here is some questions, which will follow with more questions in the near future - Gear. I was thinking on Gaerne oiled boots (on the way) with...which is the most comfortable pants/jersey/gloves? I have the MSR ISDE Pack-Jack as very light, foldable into itself rain jacket... - Camelback? which tools? - How it's work on the end of the day if I want to do some mechanical work? Can I use mechanic? Do I have limited time and special space to do it? - Can I get between fuel stops on the original gas tank or should I get auxiliary tank on the fork? Every year same old, same old with illegal riders following the course of the Pre 65 and published at the bottom of the results? These people are obviously not concerned about the future of both the Pre 65 or the SSDT. In some people’s minds it is like anything you are doing wrong you will continue to do it until you are caught, hence they continue and it will be the same next year. Publishing it year on year out falls on deaf ears and I have sympathy with the officials as they cannot man every bit of the course so what indeed is the solution to this ongoing problem to preserve both of the events? I have been fairly quiet on the subject of unofficial riders at the ssdt this year, leaving the voices of others to make the point. HOWEVER - today i received an official letter from the Forestry Commission expressing their concern about the unauthorised use of the forest track along the North side of Loch Lochy on the Tuesday of the event. The Forestry Commission are one of our main landowners who welcome us back year after year and a lot of the land used by the event is owned by them (a lot of it is open hill - they dont own just forests). This is just a quick note to those of you who have already paid your entry fee, and a warning to those of you who have still to do so! If you choose to pay either cash or a cheque over the counter, the bank may not pass on any reference that you give them - we are receiving these payments in our account and the only reference quoted is the sort code of the bank that you've made the payment at, meaning that we have no means of matching your payment to your entry. So far we've got eleven SSDT payments into our bank account, and only seven of them can be identified. Already four people have sent their entry fees in without a reference to tell me who they are or who their payment is in respect of. Can I just remind everyone that if we can't identify that a payment is yours, you will lose your place in the trial. Please note that no traders will be allowed into the West End Car Park before 6pm on Thursday 3rd May. This year the local council have asked us to ensure that no vans, trucks or stalls go into the car park earlier than 6pm on Thursday. This is one of the conditions that are to be met if we are to be given the use of the car park for the week, so we'd ask you all to respect their request and refrain from parking any trade vehicles in the car park until then. SSDT Secretary and all round good lass - our very own Highland Lassie - is getting on her push bike and pedaling for Leukaemia Research charity. Few people fully appreciate the time, effort and commitment that HL gives to motorcycle trials - not just to the SSDT but she also helps in other events such as timekeeping the Scott. Trying to trace history of my Tlr 250. This was registerd by Honda UK and has the next reg number after E. Liguene's works Honda(you can see his reg number in '4 stroke finale' dvd/book). It was ridden in the scottish as it has some very faint markings on the engine relating to the marking system used at the SSDT but is un-readable. Also this bike has RTL bottom engine numbers stamped and an external oil feed from front of gearbox to the head. I would like to get hold of entry list's from 84/85 to see if it might show up who owned/rode the bike? I bought the bike from John Lee m/c in 2003 and apparently it had been stored for 12 years prior to this. Any help appreciated.
