How did the Greeves entries fare in the SSDT

After reading the letter from 'Scottish Hopeful' in last weeks TMX, I kind of agreed with one or two of his points. In particular, "The bottom 20-30 of the entry automatically forefeiting their ride for the following year". Pro's It appears to make a bit of sense I suppose as the lucky wobblers that got a ride are forced to make room for next years SSDT hopefuls. Cons James Dabill missed a group in 2004 and was excluded for it. The bottom 30 finishers would say "I can't ride next year but neither can he, in fact I beat him this year ". i had something similar to this all plumbed in on a t peice, the first year at the ssdt i used this on a montesa and after a couple of day i was refused the extra fuel ,the year later i failed scruteenering with the auxillary tank fitted.have the rules changed?

Am I right in saying, the mighty Honda, have never won the SSDT and if so, why, for all the money they spend on motorcycle sport, have they not tried again and again, until they succeeded? It's the most desirable trophy of all, as a manufacture, in the world of Trials and yet, Honda, or even Montesa, do not bother. As they brand the 4rt in Japan as a Honda RTL and obviously Montesa everywhere else, they could field two teams to enter the SSDT and would benefit from either Honda or Montesa winning, although surely Honda must really want a win, to join Yamaha on the list of winners on the trophy. Hi all, what are the moorland crossings like? how fit do you need to be? are you better being bike fit, or get oot on the mountain bike to build up stamina, both realy, but more fun on trials bike. what training does everyone else do? cheers in advance, bryan.

Are there any weather forecasts for the SSDT yet.

Is it true that you trash a brand new bike in just one SSDT, or are there trialist who get away with it? Several dutch rider who, in the far past , did the ssdt mentioned this. I can see why it isn't that nice for a trials bike to do 200km for 6 days. Haven seen my Pro's gear box i can state it isn't made for 1200km hard labour.

I'm out on the bike every day now, built a course round the yard and go like hell round it, and ride the creek section Scott style, I don't half get a sweat on and arm pump, have you even got a bloody bike yet thi fat lump. Only 82 days to go.

I've done a fair bit of observing myself over the years, I appreciate how tough a job it can be. When I ride an event I'm always very grateful for the volunteers who give up their free time and stand out in all weather so that we can all enjoy a days sport. I know and appreciate that its difficult at times to stick to the stipulated rules. Especially in no stop events where a rider has put so much effort into completing a section which may have resulted in a brief pause. It can be difficult as an observer to make a judgement, that adheres strictly to the rules. I have been at the receiving end of being fived and cleaned for committing the exact same offence. Please use this topic for posting feedback on the SSDT DVD after you've watched it. Good, bad or indifferent, it doesn't matter. A pat on the back is nice but Matt and I would like to hear what you think so we can modify our future efforts if needs be. Please tell us what you like and dislike, which clips is your favourite and that sort of thing. I someone out there would like to do a proper review that would be great. I concidered making this a poll but all sorts click on the polls with no real interest in the subject. It looks like a fair few TC users are going to FW next month. How about a get together somewhere. For HLs sake it would have to be the Milton or we'd never here the end of it. Would you come, what night would be better & most importantly would you buy a round? Beware Andy never goes out in FW without his camera(s).

Does anyone know roughly when we find out if we have a place in the SSDT? I think the anticipation is going to leave me with some sort of mental scarring.... All the best Tom

Here we go then; like many I am now counting off the days to the Scottish again. I.ve been participating in a conversation on f.Book regards splitting our sport into 2 ..the trick riders and the no stoppers...phew . During the course of this the issue of interpretation of the rules came up and the SSDT was used to highlight how trick riding rear wheel floating, even stopping with the footrest propping you up has been witnessed and how it should be should be interpreted. As it happens I am nowadays one of the guys making these decisions 275 times a day for 6 days. Well i've booked the time off work but only for the Classic 2 day so plan to drive up on Thursday and stay till Sunday night drive home Monday. At least i should see 1 day of the main event also. As this is my first time i assumed that Fort William was the best place to find accomodation however at the Trial on Sunday some old hands told me not to but to try and stay at Kinlochleven. They also said that i probably wouldnt have a cat in hells chance as all the accomodation would be booked up already.
