I've been building a 350 Matchless springer from roadster parts that i've gathered up over the years, but have been looking at swapping out the frame for one made by Progressive Classic Products. Have any of you tried these or know of any that are in use? it looks to meet the current Scottish rules, but would need to work for the rest of the year as well!

Any experiences of DIY zinc and/or nickel plating at home? Plenty of videos on YouTube. Success or failure? Tips and hints appreciated. Early Sammy Miller High Boy frames. Chrome or nickel? Can you nickel plate over chrome? Can you nickel plate over old, sound nickel plating?

I ride in the US and have a 1987 Beta TR 34 and a Fantic 240 Pro. One has to go as I set the spring lineup of bikes to ride this year. I am not a serious trials rider. Go to a 2-4 meets a year, ride novice and in my yard. I do it because it's fun and it helps so much with enduro, hare scrambles etc. Both bikes are in about the same shape. The Fantic my be a little nicer. The Beta is the best balancing bike and is a better pure trials bike. I think parts are much harder to find though. Worry that a crank or ignition failure might finish off the Beta. I like to ride really technical trails with lots of logs, off camber tight turns. Might run 12-14 miles in an afte…

Hi Guys, I hope you can help this newbie. I have just purchased my first classic trials a montesa mh200.. it is in good condition and had a lot of money spent by the previous owner. We took it out yesterday to put it through it paces and although it has started first kick every time up to now it ceased to run mid way through our session. I had a look today and it seems the plug was very wet and not sparking. I cleaned the plug and it briefly fires then its soaking wet again. I have stripped the carb 4 times today to double check there is no blocked jets etc and the float needle seems to be working correctly. I feel it could be ignition related as the spark …

Hi there I am new to trials and I'm going to build a bantam to compete with. One of the problems I have encountered is lack of information about the humble bantam. My main problem is what forks to use,I want to run it in Pre 65's in Scotland(not the 2 day) but would like to know if I could use trail bike forks and yokes(XL,TS) or does it have to be std. or period. cheers Brian

I'm still restoring my late model Dalesman trials (circa. 1973 - the one with the Sachs engine). Does anyone have photos showing the original design of both the chainguard & the chain tensioner ...... or even better, have spare ones for sale? Also trying to find front & rear black 'VF' mudguards. Have attached the only good photo I've found of this model of trials bike but any others would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi I've a very good condition Montesa 172, engine is sweet.....but can't get the gearchange sorted...... I was thinking of either selling on as is, or possibly change the engine ??...... Ideally I would like to keep in line with the era (i.e I don't want to put a modern chinese copy 125 in), and ideally keep as a 2T. Anyone any experience or advice on most appropriate, with minimal modification (although I've no problem with sorting some fabrication work) cheers John

As some of you know i am heavily involved with a couple of local Classic Clubs and have stood on my soapbox on many occaisions in the past about Classic trials etc. Well one of the Clubs is having big problems with small entries. Basically if things dont soon change the club will have to either use one venue only or close. The Club needs approx 35 entries minimum to break even at most venues. Ok some are more expensive, Bracken Rocks etc, than others, typically Carsons Fm, but the Club has been making a loss of late and this can not and will not continue. So what to do ? Raise entry fees ? well they are currently
