Hi there, I just added a leaner main and pilot to my 04 beta rev 250. I haven't started teh bike yet, but I wanted to reset the idle and air screw to their default positions. The manual states nothing about how many turns out from fully closed are the default turns for either of these. To be honest, I don't even know *which* of the two screws is which! Is the big fat one in the center of the carb the Air screw? (and the one towards the rear of the bike the idle) or vice versa? Can anyone help me to determine what are the default settings so I at least have a solid baseline setting for the carb before I start her up with the new jets? many thanks, robert

Hi there. I've got to take the flywheel off to get to my stator as there is no spark. I am still hoping to discover it is just the woodruff key thats sheared but I think I am being optimistic. Just ordered a flywheel puller. Was wondering if one of you could offer me a step by step guide to taking the flywheel off. Does the main flywheel nut unscrew anti-clockwise ? Can I do it without a flywheel holding tool. How do I use the flywheel puller ? I have searched this forum and it seems I need an impact ratchet to do it which I don't have. All your help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Gareth

Hello, This is my first post on here Bought this bike as a first trials bike, got it home everything seemed ok. Next day, give the bike a good clean up. Strip and clean the carb start greasing the bearings etc. I then notice there is no gearbox oil showing in the sightglass. I had some spare so I thought I would drop the old stuff out and put in some fresh oil. Ok, hardly anything came out, just a couple of drips. Filled it with the recommended amount and can see no leaks. Start the bike and it's now seriously smokey Mixed the fuel at 1.5% as the manual said. I suspect the crank seal on the oil side is leaking so has anyone put new seals in their beta and …

Two of my mates just bought new 04 Rev 3's. One is fine but the other appears not to have any rebound damping. It's therefore very springy and difficult to ride. I don't know much about the Beta forks so any help would be great. Is one leg bump and one rebound like my gasser or something completely different? Before anyone asks I haven't checked the fluid levels yet.

Hello every one So recently well riding my bike staled out and would not budge. Bound up, kicker will not move. Motor will not bump. I walked her home. Once home I was able to pull the wheel through the stroke and freed it up. Started right up but sounding loud. Shut it down. After looking inside. I found lots of metal flakes under the piston and crank feels rough and sticky. So I think I will need to do the mains? I've never split a case before. What special tools will I need. Is it easy to remove and install the gears. I'm a bit nervous any help and all the tips I can get would be much appreciated thanks Z

I guess its only fair to put this post here where the Beta fans go!! Just had a go on an 05 Beta. I'm not a great rider, but I was AMAZED how much easier it felt than my 02 Beta...AND than the 05 Sherco I recently tried. I guess the reason I'm saying this is, if anyone has the money and is hesitating to by a new Beta ........DONT...if I win the lottery, I'll be going straight out to buy one...or maybe even 2

Hello folks , It's that time again----- where I find myself looking for a new (to me) bike ( '05 model). I like the way a rev 3 rides but from the experience of a couple of mates(with '04and'03 models) I know the electrics are suspect. Anyway heres the query..the 05's have been out for a year or so now.. has the stator/cdi problem been sorted? All feedback welcome. Ta!

  12. Started by hoodie2,

I noticed in the TBM test that Mike Rapley said that the Beta's electrics were still dodgy. Have they not fixed the problem yet? If not where are the weaknesses? I've heard that the Stators are weak and have also noticed that the CDI's seem to pack in. I havent heard whether they suffered a lot of failures in Scotland this year. I like the Rev 3 a lot but would be put off buying one if it's going to let me down.

Has anyone been having problems with the front fenders breaking on the 05 betas? We have gone through several in just a short time. I broke the front off mine, moved it back & refastened it. Broke it again 2 more times this way. Two times it broke going off a drop. I think the plastic is faulty, because this is my fourth rev3, and never broke a front fender before.

We picked up 10 from the Comos on Tuesday for the Bottle Run Xtreme open house. We put a 270 together for a demo bike and by the end of the day it had 4 tanks of gas run through it. No complaints except the front brake needs some air bled out and the slow throttle needs to be replaced with a fast one. Thats not to bad considering we only had time to put the bars on and check fluids before people started riding it. Have not even adjusted the floats. Nice bike.... Aaron

I noticed that on John Lampkins site the 200 is quoted as weighing 71kg rather than 72kg for the 250/270. I always thought the 200 was heavier because of the cylinder liner. Anybody know why it's lighter or whether there are any changes to this years 200? Cheers.

Looking at changing from 290 sherco (01) to possibly the new 200 Beta. Has anyone tried one / got one and if so how do you rate it ? Thanks

Do you still have to remove the flywheel cover and clean/dry out after every wet ride? Are the carb flooding problems cured? Are the electrics sorted? Son is considering buying one it's between a beta and a scorpa and i can see i'll be left doing the maintainance

Hi, im looking for some help, i have recently changed from an 01 315 to an 06 rev 3 250 and this is where my problems begin. Apart from a carb that refuses to keep fuel within im also having major starting problems, it seems i have either got a very weak or no spark at all. Sometimes the bike starts fine but sometimes refuses point blank - any ideas ? Thanks Mark

I have the carb worked out great but im having trouble getting the bike to handle. I have the bike setup to my size and it sill is not feeling right. "I'm dabbing where I should not dab. Also 1st seems to slow and 2nd seems to fast. Do most of you change to stock gearing? If anyone can help me out that would be great.
