Hi , anyone ever put a Mikuni vm 26 on a SWM TL 320? Was it better ? jetting ok? Thanks

  2. Started by turps,

I have a really bad misfire on my 1980 TL320 and am looking for advice. My bike starts 1st or 2nd kick and ticks over great and runs at slow speed fine but as soon as I open the throttle it starts to backfire, I have changed points, condenser, coil, plug lead and plug to try and cure this fault. I have also cleaned out the carb and fitted an in-line fuel filter. There is a chance that when I reassembled the engine that I may have put the disc valve in slightly the wrong position but have yet to check this, I wonder if this would make much of a difference to the performance, as, if it is in the wrong place it will only be out by one or two splines. I will have a look at t…

I have a Moto Gori 125, bored out to 175cc - i have been told, though not done any measurements...... Please can anyone confirm the correct amount of engine oil i need, the rotax unit is a big lump & would imagine would need a fair bit. Only rode a couple of trials on it - if anyone is interested, bike could also be for sale. thanks

Hello fellow SWM riders, Long story here. In full disclosure this is an account of my distant memory and my fathers account as told to me recently. He has told me this in full frustration pent up for 30+ years. As this goes here is the story: In Western NY USA as a child I found myself excited to follow my father to each and every trials event. In this story I was about 6 years old. I was instructed on how to follow a "Loop" and that i was only allowed to be on the loop or in the pits if I were to come to the event. Mom was very burnt out with motorcycles at this point so it was only he and I. This was the golden year of 1982... Three weeks before this d…

Hi all new here kinda. Short version I have ridden trials since 71 and still have a vintage trials OSSA MAR 250 and vintage enduro bikes, modern enduro bike and modern trials Beta Rev. In 1980 I bought a new 320 TL, rode for several years, left for a year in OZ and sold bike to a friend. Came back he had sold it and I could not find it again....wanted it back. After a few years gave up. Bike turned up on monday on e-bay, Vinduro group mentioned it....someone was looking for a SWM enduro, this was a trials bike. But it was just 15 mins from me so I clicked on the link. Wow looked like my old bike, more I looked at it more it looked like it. About 12 hours left on the aucti…

Here is number 2. http://www.trials.com.au/forum/download/file.php?id=6438 Some differences from number 1. - Different triple clamps [like Bullys]. Different side covers. Only one shock mount position on number 2. Things to fix - find a decomp.; clutch cable knackered and other clutch ease of use mods; find a flywheel cover protector; and get two kick starter stops to protect cases for no. 1 and no. 2; new side covers, seat and rear fender; modify the enduro bend kicker supplied with it to get it fitting against the frame when not being used.

Hi, I fitted new carbs to my bikes and did some testing on Sunday morning. Also tried my action cam out for the first time. The 320 is sorted but the 125 still soots up the plug after a short while. I'm scratchin my head and a few other places besides. The carb is brand new, original spec. I have fresh 102 octane with no methanol mixed at 50:1 full synthetic oil. The exhaust has been cleaned and the middle box repacked. The timing is spot on and a brand new NGK BP5ES plug. The filter is clean, there are no leaks, new crank seals. To be continued...........

Hi all, I have got a 1982 / TL320 in the workshop to get the rear end sorted with a new tyre, brake shoes chain and sprockets etc.. I was was quite surprised to see that where it has been standing a small amount of oil has been dripping from one fork leg. The seals are almost new (fitted in Okt. 2016) and the bike was used once for about 1/2 h before weather stopped me. The chrom and the seals seem fine. Can it be that air pressure is building up in the fork leg ? Does the fork cap have a bleeding valve and when it does should it work in both directions ? The forks are the last 35 mm Betors and silver coloured that just have one 35 mm x 47 mm x 10 mm seal (not like i…

Introducing myself because I've just brought a '82 320. Haven't rode for 20 years, now live in S.Wales so thought I'd buy a bike to do some trail riding before I get too decrepit (I'm 68!) to ride. Used to ride a Ossa MAR, never in comps though. Don't know much about the brand, apart from it's a pretty bike (shallow reason to buy, but you know!). The bike seems good for the price I paid. It's a bit visually challenged, seat vinyl torn, frame paint missing etc., but seems to run well. Has been used in trials, so I think it's ok mechanically. And some questions! Neutral seems hard to find when the engine is running, OK when engine stopped and slightly e…

Hi guys, Picked this up at weekend as a winter project, runs ok but rough. ( sorry can't load the photo of the bike ) The question is, I went to check the points and the flywheel nut was hand tight. Took it off with the flywheel and it was really wet and oily at the rear of the flywheel. Began to delve in as you do ( only use to Bultacos ) and I was stopped by the large disc that is retained by three large screws. I can get it to rotate but not release, it seems to house a bearing on the crank, how do I get it off guys. And yes for you eagled eyed chaps, the woodruff key is mangled, I've no idea how it ran, it fired up first time. Many thanks.

Hey guys what is up. As you can probably tell I am new here. I just picked up a 1973 SWM RS250 MC and i dont know a thing about them. But i am hoping you guys can help. The bike is in really ruff shape right now. I have been told that it runs but it doesnt have a kicker and as of right now he thought the coil or the plug were bad. Were do you guys get parts for these bikes. I would like to try and restore to as close to original as i can. down to frame color( I think it was orange). so if you guys could help me out here. I am mechanicaly inclined and have a background in bikes . I just dont know anything about this bike. Thanks again any help will be greatly apreciated.…

  16. I am the new proud owner of a 1983 SMW 350 Jumbo, in all it's yellow glory. Bought it from a local rider (thanks Wayne!). The engine has been fully rebuilt and has just a couple of hours of riding on it. I guess over the next few weeks (month?) as I get familiar with the bike and start riding it / tuning it to my liking I will have many questions. This Trials Central has been a great source of help in the past so I am turning to you guys again for answers. Engine oil What engine oil do people use? I my (modern) trials bike I use Maxima MTL 80WT. How to verify oil level and refill? There are no oil level windows (unlike my Fantic) and I couldn't find …

Hello everyone, well after 20 plus years, I finally did it...I just purchased a well sorted TL320. I have been wanting one of these for years. I'm sure I'm going to have a load of questions for you in the future. I have already reviewed all of the SWM posts and I'm getting quite the education. So, a humble thank you is in order for leaving such detailed information in this Forum. I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself and wish you all the best, Carl...from the East Coast, USA.
