One of the best upgrades you can make to your Oset is to replaces the sealed lead-acid batteries with LiPos. A LiPo (lithium-ion polymer battery) is an evolution of lithium-ion batteries where the electrolyte is basically held in plastic rather than a solvent. Hi, after breaking a couple of controllers in the process I’ve now completed a Kelly Controller installation on an OSET 16.0 24V. The problems I had were down to my wiring connections so hopefully this thread will help anyone considering the mod and avoid them making the same mistakes. I have focused on the wiring here as it’s what caught me out. I’ve not added much info on the controller or batteries so ask me questions if needed or look at the other threads that discuss them. Bought an Oset 24.0R to ride with my grandson. Nice and quiet so I can talk to him when he rides. It's a lot of fun but not a replacement for a gas bike. At least not for a heavy adult. i raised the handlebars and put a wider rear tire on the rear. Mostly just to make it look "right".

GRIPS: I cut the grips off and replaced them with a bicycle inner tubes so my daughter could get her hands around it. I used an oil quart cap duct taped over the accelerator end for protection, and tied the inner tube into a knot on the left side, with cut tassles for my daughter's enjoyment of course. This also keeps dirt out of the throttle tube. HI, I'm Travis, got my son, Adler, a 12.5 about 9 months ago. He was 2 yrs 9 months when we got it. We had just removed the training wheels on his 12" bicycle a week or so before the Oset arrived. He is now 3.5 yrs. I have a small bicycle shop in Louisiana, USA. Also have a very small fab shop in back set up for small volume frame building. Right out the box it weighed 51lbs. Hi! Is there any recommendations to more powerfull motor to Oset 12.5. Something pretty similar as sise wise to stock motor so it fits the swing. I want brushed because I have allready Kelly Controller fitted. Between 800-2000 watts?

We bought the Oset 20.0 a week ago, and I know its for my kids, but I could not help ride it too. So do not get me wrong, I love the bike, I am just trying to make it more adaptable to my kids' riding abilities. The one thing I will do is add a larger brake rotor in the front as I did for the smaller 16.0 OSET -can get larger rotors with the bridge adapter at most mountain bike stores. The bike is so strong, its like a thoroughbred horse, its seems to have a mind of its own that just wants to go fast. Accordingly, a stronger front brake is appropriate to better control it, and to make it easier for my kids to do stoppies, etc.. In terms of power, while riding it at …

Quick question, anyone know what the legality around riding these small Oset's are in parks/commons/pavements around the UK? Don't want to be doing anything we shouldn't be doing so thought I'd check first.

newbie stampedes in where the wise fear to tread - but hoping for more ideas in this forum - here are my tips: 1. my 3.5 year old's hands were simply not big or strong enough to pull the brakes. 2 things changed this: i) i removed the spring at the bottom of the back brake ii) i adjusted the the little alan screws in each lever to bring the levers well within his reach. now he can use both brakes with relative ease, even if he won't be pulling stoppies any time soon. 2. i accidentally knocked the cover off the little rheostat, next to the key slot. Hi, got the oset out the other day, its been sat in the shed for 6 month and its been really cold here in the UK, tried charging them and the green light comes on to say there done after a few mins, took both batteries out and stuck them on my optimate 4 one by one for around 12 hours each and still nothing, no lights, no click of the relay, nothing, checked all the wiring too. The batteries are 4 year old so they could do with been replaced anyway but just want to make sure there dead and its not something else, so any tests I can do on the batteries with the multimeter ? I've never used it before.

Just curious why this forum is 99% Oset. After looking at the two smallest models for my 3 year old I was pretty unimpressed with the build quality on the Oset. Ended up getting a Kuberg Start and he's rocking it. Don't get me wrong, both are great bikes and I'm very pleased to have a choice of small electric bikes for my son. Just curious if there was some reason unknown to me why Oset seems to be the preferred brand.

A (trials riding) friend has asked for any pros and cons of the Oset bike against the Mecatechno bike as he is looking to buy his 6-year old son one to replace his current PW50. Any information would be really helpful.

Just got a new 36v Oset for my son and we love it! One small issue we have, though, is harshness of the throttle at very low speeds. It's not bad for general riding around, but it definitely makes practicing things like small circles a real challenge - I can only do them using a lot of brake to modulate speed instead of the throttle, and my kid can't do them at all. I've read elsewhere that this is just the way it is on this bike - it might be something we have to live with, and the rest of the bike is so good that we're certainly willing to do so. My 7 yr old has just got an Oset 36v, which I can't keep him off, which is great. But the take off from a standstill is really jerky!!! I have researched this, and it appears this is a common issue. I have turned the potentiometer up to max, and it makes no difference other than increase the top speed of the bike, which is great, but we still have the jerky throttle. This makes riding at slow speed, which is the idea of a Trials bike, very difficult. I have been advised to buy a programmable speed controller from Kelly Controllers in the US.. Surely if Oset know of this issue, the programmable speed controller should be supplied with the bike??? Has anybody any f…

Been reading the posts I can find about this and see that most are using RC packs in series, which I can do and have done with other electric bike projects. But I'd rather have a pack with a BMS so the cells can be charged and balanced on the bike all at once. What I'm having trouble with is the max volts that the Oset's controllers can handle. Most Lipo or Lithium packs are well above 48v and most peak around 58v and that worries me. All my other electric bike projects have been for 36v and I have sent over 48v to those without issue...but this Oset is a way more expensive bike and I don't want to blow any electronics. Its no secret that my favourite bike is the Mecatecno Dragonfly , so when i heard a little about there being a new adult sized electric bike bearing the same name i was very interested . I fired off a message to Jordi Mila who is the owner of Mecatecno. I started to build my daughter's 16" Oset up to a 20" about 6 months ago. Then I heard that Oset was coming out with the 20" so I decided to wait patiently for it. However, I just can't wait any more. She is getting too big and Oset doesn't have a firm date or price for the 20. I reckon this forum might get a fair bit of interest over the coming months, I've just read the news article at http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/showartic...?articleID=3364 and reckon that we'll start seeing these bikes at venues and in parks very soon. I sold our 12.5" bike to a bloke called Scott who lurks on here I think? If so, how are you getting on with it and have you let the kids have a go on it yet? Hi All, I've a problem with my lads bike. the twist grip shows full charge / power but when you twist to go ... nowt ! Ive checked over the connectors and they look ok ...... anyone any idea what to start looking at first ? Cheers folks
