Hi all, Im in need of a bit of help, I'm a learner to put it in laymans terms, im practicing my balance, not too bad, I can wheelie and get over obstacles while moving but can't do it from a standing start, I think I'm scared of flipping it, any pointers?

Good evening fellow riders, I am getting arthritic type pain in my index fingers and knuckles after riding. I am also getting pointy bits on the side of my index knuckle joints from the obvious repetitive use of the clutch and brake. Has anyone else experienced this, and have any wonder cures or suggestions, I have tried riding with two fingers on the levers, but find that quite awkward. Cheers in advance.

i have been doing about half an hour a day, just on my balance but with the engine off, my progress was really slow, i could manage about 5 seconds at the very best until i read through some of the posts and over night i can now do over one minuet, i couldn't believe how much easier it is bye letting air out of my tyres and standing in the correct way, tomorrow i am going to start learning to balance after coming to a stand still with the engine running, is their any other tips that you could share with me, that could make it easier or is it just the same as doing it without the engine running and plenty of practice.

Anyone make their own flags or markers for practice? I made a set of flags a while back using straight pieces of coat hanger wire for the pole and some colored tape for the flag. They looked and worked great but I didn't really like the idea of falling on one and impaling myself on one. So am looking for ideas for some floor markers rather than flags, something like football practice cones but a little smaller. Whatever I use needs to be bright colored and robust enough to take bikes riding over them and people falling or standing on them. Something quick cheap and easy would be handy too, I don't mind getting down the hardware store and knocking something up. Any ideas…

I have heard that if you get your brakes hot and then throw cold water on them this makes the brakes really sharp. Any comments good, bad or indifferent? Thanks. Alan

Hey all, Right just a quick one. I trust my back brake no problem and body position going back is fine but whenever I get the front wheel up pretty high on slow wheelie I find myself falling off to one side. . . on the road bike I lean out to one side but never works too well. . . whats the best way of steering a slow wheelie or stop it falling to one side??? weight on pegs?

  8. Hi all, I have just bought a Rev 3 to do some trials on, but my trials skills are woefull. I think maybe a few hours of training in the basic techniques will go a long way....anyone know of anything in the Norfolk/Suffolk area, if not, I can travel so any recommendations? I did a trials event 3/4 years ago on my Montesa 315R down in Sidcup before I moved to Norfolk....I think i came 3rd from last....I'm guessing the other 2 guys DNF'd But even that trials taster brought my enduro skills to new heights, bare in mind I have low standards that I fail to live up to! I rode enduro's/hnh's for a few years on a sportsman scale, but I want to get into trials in bigger way now …

There are a lot of good riders out there but it's difficult to learn from them, I think this guy is one of life's great communicators, I have one of his DVDs and I've continually promised myself a second. It's been 25 years since I've been to college yet I recall this motto, from a lecturer, every time I'm trying to learn something new: 'Over-exaggerate a technique/ formula/law to it's maximum or minimum to best understand it'.

I'm looking to set up a section for home pratice and wonder if anyone has any pictures of what they use? I have a good supply of pallets I can use and am trying different configurations. With the price of fuel home pratice may become the wave of the future.

Okay, so i thought i would start this little thing where after every time i have been on my bike or done something to my bike i will write about it, include pictures and maybe even videos eventually.. What i am hoping for is some feedback about what i am doing wrong, what i am doing right etc. I ride a Beta Evo 2011 290cc! I am going to go and give it a clean and once it is done i shall post a few pictures of it!

Jacked the topic from another forum. Do u believe in riding with bend knees or not ? This person says bend them : And here someone who only does it with direct function : In my opinion the basics should be with "straight" legs (mostly a little bend)If u start with to much bend there is little room for action and the weight is easily going more to the back, making things more difficult. (That is a problem I have)

  14. Hey all, so I come from a background of enduro riding and rmec racing, so nothing super tough. Im not a skilled rider, just your basic trail, single track and "rougher" enduro rider. Many times, I still sit on rocky terrain and obstacles (to give you an idea of my riding level). As some of you know I am starting off with a trials 300 txt gasgas, and I have no idea where to begin or do ha ha. so here are some questions. Yes I know youtube has a lot of videos, but I still feel like I need to build up to get there. Im hoping one day I can meet a trials rider in Colorado so they can show me how to start. As of now, I dont think many events are taking place since its winter. H…

  15. Hello Folks, Just starting beginning trials training - have 30yrs of enduro/trail riding experience - C+/B- skill or so. My trials bike is a scorpa sy250. I am 6'1" and a "stocky" 220lb While practicing on the trials bike, I seem to have all my weight on my hands/wrists and I find it very uncomfortable, almost painful in my lower palms and wrists. I Know this is a broad question, but can anyone offer suggestions on what I may be doing wrong... bad stance? Need Bars Higher? etc. The the pain in the hands makes me look for any excuse to skip practicing and leave the bike sitting in the garage. I am missing out on all the fun of trials riding as a result of…

Since we are riding for HOURS, isn't way more reps than the standard 6-15 repetitons per set (until "fail" - you can't do anymore right then...use enough weight) advisable? Apparently 4-6 reps per set is the best for developing SHORT bursts of great strength, but less endurance? Apparently around 8-12 reps is best for developing large-LOOKING muscles, but not strength/endurance as much. I'm not a body-builder, as such, so I don't want to choose 10 reps? Bruno Cammozi is the only top rider I've ever seen who was "huge"...all the other guys are not huge...so they train for strength and not size? If so, how many reps? I've heard that lots and lots of reps before fail (sa…

Hi guys, I'm in a weirdo balance situation. I can balance with engine off on concrete with race tyre pressures with one and even with no hands but when I'm riding I just don't seem to have all that balance. So what might be the deal? Concentration issues? Also I train on a daily basis with a wobble board and a trials push bike. Cheers

I just moved up a grade and things are a little tighter now. One area where I need improvement is front wheel lifts with little or no approach. I have no problem with wheel lifts when I have a comfortable run in, but when there is little or no room, I just "cant get it up" (he he). I am also progressing well with double blip - but again - only when I have a nice amount of room for the approach. Currently I dont use the clutch for front wheel lifts. I do the basic compress, blip, pull back. I have been told I need to add the clutch pop, to help with wheel lift in short approaches. So two questions: (1) can I get a couple of "simple old guy learning ne…
