Gas Gas

Have just acquired a gas gas 125 txt 2000. Had to rebuild the clutch and put back the kick start etc. Have yet to put oil and water in it. Checked for a spark as I would like to start it for a few seconds, just to check that the kickstart is fitted ok. I.E. no ratcheting when the engine is running. Anyway there is no spark that I could see. Have replaced the spark plug and checked the kill switch. There is voltage getting to the plug, as when kicked over and holding the spark plug you get quite a belt from it. My grandson said he felt it go all the way up his arm. At a trial today , my buddies 2010 or 11 eco280's tranny made some BAD crunching noises and would lockup or jump out of gear. going to tear it down(depending on warranty). Is there some common troubles? I've not seen any other tranny problems in our small group of riders,but have limited exposure (6 bikes, 2000-his as the newest)

My 2004 280 Pro has a burnt out rectifier. Is there a common part available to replace this that is less costly than the GasGas part? Part number is MT300534009 (black socket) which replaces BT280434107 (blue socket). Ducati ignition.

I have a problem with the clutch on my bike, it keeps dragging even with the lever completely pulled in to the handlebar. The bike is used but new to me since one week, the last owner used Motorex 10W30 synthetic gearbox oil, so my first question is if this is a good oil to use for my bike? It has been a while since i last owned a bike and the last one did not have an hydraulic clutch so im not yet familiar with this, can the problem be air in the hydralic system for the clutch? It does not feel like it is slipping at any point, just not completely disengaging when the lever is pulled. I have tried to adjust the play and the "setting" of the clutch lever, but without …

Have been riding my new 300 for a few weeks and need to knock the edge of the performance a little. Usual mods like flywheel weight etc I know about, but someone has suggested swopping the middle box from an ally one to a steel one. They say it works a treat, so does anyone have expeience of this or can confirm if it works?

hi just received a brand new keihn carb for my 08 gasgas 125 finally got it all on fitted fine then connected the fuel tank and it overflowed with petrol so we gave the float bowl a tap still overflowing took it all apart everything seemed fine has anyone else had this problem or can give some advice would be much appreciated Ben

Hi, just picked myself up a 2009 txt 250 in lovely condition. It does however have a really bad rattle / knock that you can hear at idle. It disappears when you pull the clutch in. You can also here it at slow speeds in low gears. It sounds rough as hell lol. Please tell me it’s normal!

Hi guys and girls I have got a 2012 txt pro 300 and I dropped it down a hill, the throttle stuck open for a few seconds until someone managed to get the kill switch. The bike was running perfect all day but then wouldn't start at all ! I removed the flywheel and the wood ruff key had sheared so I replaced the key but it's still no good and won't start ! I have removed and cleaned the carb checked all the electrics disconnected the kill switch but still doesn't want to go and now I'm at a bit of a dead end can anyone give me any help please ? I'm getting a spark and the plug is getting wet so I'm sure it's got to be timing related has anyone else had anything similar ? C…

hi i have had an 06 gasser 250 for about 4-5 months now and ever since i bought it it had a slow puncture, i have recently had the tyre off on a few occasions to clean it out etc and put it back on and popped it onto its bead, after doing this the tyre still goes down between the rim and tyre. any help would be appreciated as i am now stuck for ideas coxy

I recently purchased a Gas Gas TXT Pro 250 and had a few questions: Is a real service manual anywhere to be found ? What is the easy way to start the bike - sometimes it kicks right over and other times it is a workout! What is the factory compression (as measured on a gauge so I can tell how my top end is) Best places to find replacement plastic. THANK YOU

Hi, I have had my 06 300 for a month or so know. It is a very nice bike but i have a few problems!! 1. I cannot ride it! This sounds crazy, i had an 05 300 which i loved and managed to gain some good results from riding. i have jumped on this new one and it feels nothing like the old one, i feel like a muppet riding it. I've spent ages tweeking the Suspension and working on personal set-up but, it has not made a difference 2. It struggles to go into gear until it is warm!!! even when it is warm, the gear box feels awful! 3. Hello all, This spring we went to Logan, West Virginia to ride the Hatfieldd McCoy trails. We were riding the enduro bikes and my son wanted to ride the trials bike one day. We were doing easy trail riding for about 15 miles. I knew we would ride some faster sections so I added a little more oil than recommended so my ratio was about 60:1. At one point I switched bikes with my son and I rode the TXT and it ran great! We loaded it back up on the trailer and did not ride it again until we took it out a couple weeks ago. Hi. I am wondering if any electrical experts out there can help me with a little problem. I have dragged my 1993 GT32 Contact 327 out to check it over ready for what is generally its only outing of the year. Due to several other bikes being available it doesn't see the light of day very often and only gets started every couple of months or so. As the original Motoplat system has been replaced by a later Kokusan set up, starting is rarely a problem. Due to a faulty thermostat (type that screws directly into the head) when I bought the bike, I wired it to be permanently on some while ago. No problems - until today. Started up as usual but no fan! Hi , Picked up my new Gas Gas Randonne'three weeks ago and rode it yesterday in the Bumpy Novice and Beginners trial . Apart from the header pipe being one of the ugliest on the market i.e. cat , mid box and leg guard , I love the little bike . The gearing needs altering and it feels as though it really needs to breath a lot better , any ideas on tuning anybody? Cheers Nick

hi i just bought a 2002pro and the gearbox sounds a bit noisy in the first 3 gears is this normal ?.i want to change the gear oil i think it should be 10/40 is good engine oil ok to use if not can someone advise what spec oil i can use also what oil mix should i be using in the petrol thanks tris

Anybody ever lean out the slide? Its hot and humid here in New England and my bike isnt picking up revs off the bottom like it did in the cooler months. I have the stock Dellorto slide (#60) and noticed that there isnt a bigger one offered. Does the PHBH slide fit? That goes to 70.

hi, need to know what size socket i need for the big nut ontop of the top fork clap for the headstock spindle thing... its loose and is making a horrible crunching noise. im going to buy a socket tomorrow so need an answer soon! cheers

Well, at least I'm getting plenty of excuses to learn to maintain my bike. After riding for an hour or so on Saturday, I decide to fall in the mud for a little while. Having picked myself up and scraped the mud out of various parts of the bike, I was ready to head off again and CRUNCH... the kick start broke. Now, I'm not a very lucky man... so naturally, this took place at literally the furthest corner of the woods. So, I pushed the bike up the tallest hill I could managed and bump started. Hello new to trials and this site. I got a 2002 Gas Gas txt 280 pro and it runs fine. However the kickstarter engages rather low, so it doesn't give me much throw before hitting the footpeg. I engage it before kicking, but I am not sure what the previous owners may have done. I moved the kickstart lever a spline on the shaft to get it further clockwise but can't go any farther clockwise with it and still have same problem. I am hesitant to open up the case because I don't see a ready source of gaskets and parts. Can someone advise me what is likely to be the cause, and where parts are found?
