Hi guy's, don't worry it is not another what bike thread but more of a what Bultaco to get! I am restoring a Montesa Cota 247 just now but was wondering what the most popular Bultaco to get hold of to restore. Any models to avoid? thanks in advance. John.

Hi, just talking to a friend on the phone and he has a 198 red plastic tank that is leaking around the fuel tap area. I know these are different to the later A and B models which have the two 6mm screws, but we are not sure what the actual tap screws onto, plastic or a metal insert? and he is reluctant to try to over tighten it without knowing what he is dealing with. Thanks Greg

Is the 340 front pipe unique to this model, or is it the same as other 350 models. The one on my 340 is serviceable but has some dents , I know you can get these out but I'd rather put the money towards a replacement than renovate what I have. Thanks.

Hi, I have read that the Model 49 325 is 'basically' a 325 'bored out'. No doubt this is an exaggerated statement, but is it possible to 'upgrade' a 250 bottom end with a 325 cylinder & piston?

While turning the countershaft on my 199 by hand it stops turning once every revolution. If I turn it harder it will rotate. The transmission works as it should although the shifting is a bit notchy. What is the cause the sticky countershaft?

Hi, I have a Sherpa 340, which I'am rebuilding, the bike is in a let's call it good condition beside of some parts. One of the main issues are the side cases where some alumium of the embelms are broken off, (can be fixed with fluid / kned metal). My concerns are the impacts that are visible and caused cracks on both side cases. I searched already E-Bay, dealers worldwide for gettimg replacement cases, but did not found any. Here are some pic's of the cases outside: Now the problem inner sides, (the cracks to the clutch side are not so good visible (only one of three!): As visible the case structure on both sides is weakend a lot. I could by a second bike …

Guys, can I ask a really simple question. How is the rear of the tank for the 159 onwards, alloy or plastic secured to the frame, is it designed to just be held in place by the seat and the single bolt at the front through the headstock?

With the 191 rebuild coming on slowly i've been out practicing with my nephew on his '97 Gas Gas ( JTX250 Contact ).We were speculating how much harder things might seem on the Sherpa and we were trying to work out how much heavier the sherpa is than the Gas Gas....so the question is what does a '77 191 Sherpa weigh in pretty standard trim ( ally tank, plastic mudguards ) ?

Finally finished my 199b restoration. Not for the traditionalists but built to ride in 'modern' twinshock events..... Hope you like it... https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15858619162/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15833432376/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15859245115/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/76022002@N08/15671718848/in/photostream/ Lots of alloy and titanium, 9Kg lighter than my standard 198a so quite happy. Started really easily so lets see what she handles like in a trial.

I've just acquired a 1966 Model 10 for restoration that has had its bottom frame loop sliced off and replaced with a skid plate. I'd really prefer to restore her to a good old fashioned bottom loop. The 4 speed engine of course has its third engine mount below the gearbox so at the moment all these 18 Bultaco HP's are suspended by 2 bolts only. Is a replacement frame (hen's teeth?) my only option here?

  15. Have fitted new points condenser and spark plug. Bike won't tickover, the air screw and throttle slide screw have no effect. The pilot jet is a 40 and main jet 123 as checked by Bultaco uk. I have had the float level and needle up and down no difference - bing carb. It starts first or second kick but just won't tickover yet you can keep it at a near acceptable tickover a speed on the throttle cable. It revs slowly. I took the silencer off (original big black thing) and was going to see dremel it and repack it but it blows through fairly easily and I just can't see it being that that is causing the issue. Any ideas? Where is the advance retard on these? I bought the manual…

Hi all, I'm now the proud owner of a pretty 69 model. I'm really happy with it, couple of jobs to sort out but nothing serious. Front brake is almost non existent and the air filter assembly is missing, also the left side engine cover could do with replacing. Anyway, first thing is the air filter assembly, any idea where I could get one? Cheers all!

I have just finished bolting together my M91 sherpa and have a query at the moment it has no airbox on and is being run with an open carb (not ideal I know) but I noticed exhaust gas coming out of the carb is this normal and if not what would it point to the engine has been professionally rebuilt (new piston, mains, big end etc) and the carb is the original amal 627 Thanks Pete

Hi. I have a couple of question relating to my M92 project. I'm putting together an exhaust system for an M92. It needs the smaller square flange for the square 325 barrell. Are the pipes that fit the two flange sizes different or do they both take the same pipe diameter? I can get my hands on a later exhaust that has the larger flange welded on. If I ground this off would the pipe fit inside a smaller flange? Also I have a set of forks. the stanchions are tapered at the tope and have knurling 200mm from the top. I need a set of triple clamps with the lowered alloy bottom yoke. I was wondering if they are all the same or if there are different sizes on some models. I …
