can anyone tell me what is needed on a trial bike for the mot in the way of lights and horn i have a log book. but i have herd so many different stories im just confussed and dont know whats needed and whats not.thanks.

Hello all. Just wanted to share a bit of info with regards insurance. I have been looking to insure my Sherco 290 (road registered) once I completed my bike licence. Had my SXF250 insured with Carole Nash - called today to swap bike to a Beta Evo 300 I just bought and told they don't insure that type of bike. Anyone recommend a company who does? Cheers

Hi, Need a little advice if possible. I have a 349 Cota which I've had for a few years now and have decided that this year I'll get the bike finished. It's still in bits but I've contacted Sandifords for an age related certificate which they cannot issue now due to not being authorised by HMRC. Can the bike be registered without this document? I don't know if the bike was ever registered as there were no documents supplied with the bike when I bought it. I'm pretty sure it's a Mark 1 349 from the engine and chassis numbers, probably late 1979 early 1980. The numbers are: 51M 18186. I would prefer an age related registration number rather than a Q plate if possible. …

Hey guys About to register my bikes for the first time. Sorted the majority of the paperwork out but now I need to get it daylight MOT. As its the first time I do not need to fit a plate as its registered on frame number. But what about the rest of the bike. Do I only really need the following: Trials Tyres with "E" marked on them rotating the correct way. A rear reflector And a horn that is continuous. Have I missed anything? Also what horn have people got and how have they mounted the reflector? Thanks in advance

After just having my 2006 Sherco 290 nicked, thinking about getting a replacment bike. I say thinking because I just can't bare the thought of loosing another £1000-1500. (And I know they'll be back.) So I reckon insurance is the only way forward. Anyone got any advice? I know Carole Nash do a theft only policy for off-road bikes and had a quote for a shade over £100, which seems ok. I may end up wanting to do one of the big trials for which I hear its best to have a road-reg bike. I assume this means it needs to be taxed too and I assume proper road bike insurance will be needed to get it taxed; so wondering if a normal motorbike policy would be better. Only prob I see…

Ive seen lots of differing versions of what you need posted into the forums.. ive just had mine done so I can confirm the requirements - 1) horn (constant sound - not honk HONK !) - megablast horn avail on ebay 2) road reg plate (to the proper standards, i.e full size) 3 Tyres - if your tyres say 'for offroad use only' on them, scrub this off, start with with a sharp Stanley knife then sand to remove any trace The bike has to be in general good condition in terms of play on headstock or swing arm / wheels. I have just purchased a 2012 Jotagas which I'm trying to get road registered. I believe I will need to have an MOT, tax and insurance to do this. The original importer has been brilliant in supplying their documentation. I also have a 1965 Triumph Tiger Cub Trials which I got classic bike insurance for (£50 fully comp). However I don't think they insure modern bikes. Can anyone recommend an insurance company that would insure either the Jotagas separately or preferably both Trials bikes on a multi bike policy I am more interested in theft as road use will be very occasional at best! Hi I have a tiger cub 1959 trials its registered in my name v5 ,I've been told I don't need a mot and its tax exempt its fully working and in good condition ,no lights, reflectors etc but I have fitted a horn how do I go about using it on a daytime licence I have also put a number plate on the rear mudguard

I have been building a pre 65 trials bike for some time with a replica frame and I have found for a sale an appropriate frame and V5c of the same brand and year. The seller states that the V5c is in his name and has a non-transferable registration number. How difficult would it be to use this V5c and frame number to register and tax the trials bike? When it means non-transferable does that mean at the end of the process my bike would get the registration number on the V5c or another age related number?

So its coming up on time to Insure My bikes an after the Montesa 4Ride was a no go with C Nash last summer when I got it [not on there model list I got p****d off needed it sorting fast] I then went with MSM just thinking I would do battle with them next time with the multi policy for My TTr 250/ Harley panHead 1200/ and Honda xr 250 was due as to adding the 4Ride. Has anyone Managed to get anywhere with C Nash on this model.............. they only had a 250cc RT listed not even a 260cc............ when I called last year seems bad as its a Honda really and the 4rides been out as a model for 2 years now I know some Insurance people are not doing Trials bikes anymore but …

hi all, my bike has a number plate on it but i dont have the v5, ive checked online on the dvla site and its confirmed the bike, there site says its a 2002 but the frame number tells me its a 2001 could this be a typo maybe. also does anyone know how i go about getting the v5 for it. tia tony

hi i have a year old bike that i wish to insure, primarily against theft. It is road registered. i have heard that insurance companies are not interested if the bike has no ignition key but they seem to accept my reg number on the forms. Does anyone have any experience of this and any other advice. Is it best to have a policy including road use or not? Can anyone recommend any companies many thanks in advance

Hey Guys I am considering riding a few road events this year but currently do not have a bike license. Simple question really can I ride my mont on a CBT or will I need to do a Direct access. Hopefully its not the latter as its bloody expensive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Scott
