I have just purchased a 2012 Jotagas which I'm trying to get road registered. I believe I will need to have an MOT, tax and insurance to do this. The original importer has been brilliant in supplying their documentation. I also have a 1965 Triumph Tiger Cub Trials which I got classic bike insurance for (£50 fully comp). However I don't think they insure modern bikes. Can anyone recommend an insurance company that would insure either the Jotagas separately or preferably both Trials bikes on a multi bike policy I am more interested in theft as road use will be very occasional at best! Any advice would be appreciated. Bruce.

I beleive I read somewhere recently that, if you passed your driving test in the days where you were then given a complementary full moped licence, then there is norequirement to do a cbt test. Although this is not a widely known fact. can anyone confirm this is the case?

In May of this year any vehicle over the age of 40 will no longer require tax or MOT. So how will this change the process of registration for older machines? At the moment for a 1977 Bultaco Sherpa for instance, your require MOT to start the process, will this change?

I am well aware this has been done to death and I have scoured the postings to date. situation is this: I purchased a Bultaco 198A about 9 years ago, it was purchased secondhand from a private individual, can't remember exactly but about £300 I think. to the best of my knowledge it has never been registered. I want to register it, so the MoT is booked, should pass, (it had a pre-mot check last week), I have been asked to put a reflector on it. I have ordered the V55/5 form from the DVLA Dating cert from in-motion has been recieved. insurance quotes saved awaiting use! my first question, do I need a NOVA1? I started to complete this but once i got to the section a…

Hi New to the forum. Just bought a 1974 montesa cota 247. I have no docs, but have tracked down a previous owner who has supplied me with a copy of the original log book. Clearly states number and engine and fame numbers. DVLA say they have no records for the number and are reluctant to let me have it. I gave sent them the copy of the reg document, but they want a club to say that the numbers match. As far as I can find there is no uk Montesa owners club. Any ideas what I should do. Thanks

I'm trying to get my SWM on the road to have a crack at some of the Sammy Miller rounds. It seems for older bikes, Carole Nash is generally regarded as about the best bet. So, having tried to get a quote online and failed as "SWM" doesn't appear in their drop down menu, I decided to call them up. Now, this is not the first time I have rung someone for an insurance quote in the last 47 years....but was certainly the only time that I have felt I was being tucked up before we even started. The lead question was "How much was I expecting to pay"....and then a rather protracted reverse auction process began, with the guy eventually starting off with "The figure on my scree…

Browsing this weeks MCN, mainly because somebody told me there was an article on the new Greeves and I came across THIS. Not good news at all if you ride a bike on the road (road legal trials as well). I lived in Germany for a couple of years and know only too well the grief the Germans have with TUV testing and type approval etc. We really don't want this coming to the UK............do we? GJ

So I would like to road reg my GasGas TXT 250. I have the V55/5 (I think it is) form the DVLA but I think there is more to it than that isn't there? I was wondering if anyone could detail the process and the cost involved, I've read some posts on it but some of those are a good few years old now and I know the Gov love to "update" how things are done for no reason. Thanks

Hi guys, I rang Carol Nash today to insure my non road registered Beta Evo 200 2013, the girl asked if it was in a garage or shed i said it was in a 17 x 9 foot breeze block shed, she asked if i could get a car in to which i replied no as it only has a pedestrian sized door which is of steel construction, she said the underwriter would not accept the building as it was not classed as a garage.........Help!

I'm assuming this is a may be looked on as a bit of a daft question but is it possible to insure a trials bike against theft when stored? If so have you any recommendations for companies who do it?
