  2. Hello everyone, I am currently recovering from a cruciate knee ligament operation and therefore I have a bit of time on my hands to do some research as to what trials bike I should purchase next. I also believe that by deciding what bike to get next will help me as inspiration / goal to fully recover and be riding again by the beginning of 2009. I am in my early 30's now and have always ridden 2 strokes (clubman / intermediate level) but did own a 4rt which was sold after 3 months as I seemed to be riding worse probarbly due to me being heavy handed on the throttle. However the problem I now have is trying to predict whether or not trials bike manufacturers will still…

Now then, is that what you expected? (front page photos of new Mont) I expected not to like the look but am pleasently surprised. If doesn't look any bigger or for that matter much heavier than the Montesa 2T. The frame design looks early gas gas but in Aluminium. I guess the frame had to get smaller in dimension to keep the whole thing small.

These are some pictures of my Moto Guzzi Special. Based on a Stornello 1969 engine placed in a SWM 1980/81 frame. It's now 244 cc. (original 160 cc). I use it in Classic trials. Kind regards, Arie from Holland

How are people who've gone from 2t to 4t bikes finding the change??? Its taken me about 10 hours to feel really comfortable, but a lot of this was down to bike set up!!

Hi there. Decided to give the four strokes a bit of a go. I think it would be a good choice considering the forthcoming welsh winter mud fests that seem to plague most events. Was just wondering whether the 08 Beta 4t is better than the 08 Sherco 320 4t. What are their strengths and weaknesses ? I've heard the Sherco clutch is a bit of an on/off situation. I know I have left out Montesa in this comparison but I simply can't afford a recent one.

Evening all. Got my 4rt on it's side and it filter out. Her indoors went to the local road bike shop and picked up a litre of oil. She came back with silkolene gear oil light sae 75. On the back it says gear oil for wet or dry clutch transmissions. Crankcase rating sae 10W/40. Is this right. Chap in shop said it was the right stuff?????

Have followed this whole four stroke debate with interest but one thing puzzles me, why do 4 stroke engines run at a higher temperature than a 2 stroke when they are supposedly better lubricated and have only 1/2 the number of power strokes. Also why are they noisier than a 2t.

Well here we go pros and cons of cv carbs??? in my experience (limited i know)dont take the top off the carb the diaphram goes in about the size of the carb top,but after fuel has been under it sweels to about twice it size and they where about 50 quid ten years ago,so when you trapped it putting it back in and split the thing it cost loads, will the new beta carb need regular cleaning?? i bet it will. i did have a few little tricks for re assy, but will save them for later..

Munch was wondering if you have your bike yet. Apparently Appleyards had them to test at Moto 1. sandifords had them at the Scott! My local dealer says it will now be next week before they appear? Wonder what the hold up is now
