Montesa

Well my Mont MH123 is finally up and running. I decided to fit NJB expert shocks and I am very dissapointed with them. I accept I'm a modern trials rider use to mono shock bikes but there just seems to be little damping and they just spring back. The rebound just seems rapid. The montesa shocks I took off were far smoother on the rebound but were too tatty to compliment the restoration. Am I expecting too much or have people had better experiences with these ?

I have a Gas Gas and i'm going to change to a Montesa 4T. I've just looked on Sandiford's website and the last news article posted is dated Nov 2003. They don't seem too excited about the new bike. What is the service like from Sandifords in relation to parts and information? Gas Gas uk have always been brilliant.

i have found a fracture crack at the shock linkage pivot on the swing arm, is this a common fault, will it weld??

After enjoying a full competition on my recently purchased 348, things turned the corner during practice yesterday. Firstly the bike was misfiring under load at about half rev's. I put this down to the incorrect carb fitted and wondered if the jetting / mix was wrong but nothing had changed since the last competition although I was not entirely happy with the performance during the comp but it did run reliably throughout. Then after riding up a rock staircase and going off line on my third attempt, the bike came down with quite a jolt, I ended up in the stream and the bike would no longer start. What is the consensus on the stock air filter and cage and running no cage? How about a Twin Air vs a Jitsie filter any thoughts on what will make the Monty breath a be easier? Thanks Tom

Hi Everyone I recently bought a Montesa 349, with the idea of doing some twinshock trials with some of my mates. When I bought it, it came in a box - apparently with all the parts except the front mudguard - what they didn't say was how much was missing! However, I have managed to rebuild it and she's looking really good now, but I there are a couple of parts I'm struggling to find. Firstly, the airbox. It did come with one, but having got her almost built up, I think it must be for an earlier model as when it's fitted, there is no way I can get the front cover off through the frame. Hi new to this site and need so help as ive just got a 349 with clutch problems, its had a replacement engine fitted, when the previous owner went to put it in gear it eventually went into gear then would not disengage, as the replacment engine had been standing he was told the clutch has probebly locked up, i got the bike knowing this it also came with the original engine and was woundering if i could replace the clutch basket from the old engine, i need to know if i can tackle the myself being keen to try, and if anyone has a step buy step guide to doing this thanks ribsie

Does anyone know where I can buy the seat that comes with the 260? I heard that it fits the 300RR and want to use it to access trails by riding on the street and I'm thinking the seat will help keep me from getting stopped, along with the fake lights I will put on.

Got a mate, with a few problems with his bike and wondering if anyone can help me, to help him My Montesa 4RT will start but won't run. Once started it runs for only a couple of seconds then stops. It will re-start but same thing again. Bike has recently had a brand new stator, new throttle body and condenser. I've tried new plug, all connections etc. Anyone ever had this before or suggest what to check next. Thanks

Hi all, have any of you used fuel filters, (in line ones). The reason i ask is because i have just emptied my tank (duff fuel), and noticed loads of little "bits" at the botttom of the tank. I'm sure this won't do the carb much good, but am worried in case the fuel filter may restrict the flow. Any ideas?

Just bought a 2004 315r and want to tidy it up and give it a once over. Have fitted some new clutch plates to hopefully sort out a bit of clutch drag and all the usual stuff, oil change, filter, plug etc but I want to repack the silencer and decoke the mid box as it looks a bit gungy!! Whats the best/easiest way of doing it ? Any help greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I might get a "Lampkin Replica" graphics set from? Cheers.

Bought a 2018 4RT recently & have a couple of questions I hope someone can help with after my first ride at the weekend firstly is the throttle with Montesa written on it a fast or slow action throttle? It does have a black body but seems a little fast secondly regarding the clutch it only bites when the lever is almost fully out, not a big problem but I’d prefer the bite point to be around half way I’ve had a 2T before & used the elf oil, changed to dimpled plates & also Haven (think that’s what they where) friction plates so I’ll be doing the same with the 4RT question is is it worth doing the Friction plates on the 4RT?
