Several times today the revs suddenly dropped on my 4RT while I was sitting in a queue waiting to go in to a section. The bike seemed ok all the rest of the time but I've never noticed it before. Is it a symptom of something waiting to fail?

Just picked up my little mont mh123. The guy I bought it off said that the revs build up without you touching the throttle to the point it's about to go bang. He thought it was an air leak so he had bought a new inlet rubber from carb to cylinder head but still the same problem. He had also bought a new needle as he thought the original was a bit scarred. I've literally just brought the bike home so I haven't even had time to look at it. Any ideas ? It does sound like an air leak to me. He also said that the motoplat ignition system won't cut out with a kill switch when the revs build beyond a point and you have to pull the plug cap off. Is this the case or do i j…

Hello, when starting the kickstarter always blocked on the footrest. Please your advice. Should I change the footpegs or the fork? I have the short lever and that works fine form me. Who has a long fork and who has a short one? Regards, Luc

I'm contemplating buying a 4RT or Repsol, having only ever ridden a 2 stroke. I keep reading comments about how they ride differently, how people shouldn't ride them like a 2T. I understand that they are heavier, but other than that what is the difference between say a TRS and a Repsol when riding a section. My level of skill is pretty low, I'd normally ride one up from the easiest route at a club trial. I also much prefer messing around at a practice ground to competing. So no need for they don't hop better on the back wheel thanks! I'm also not able to get a test ride on one sadly. Really interested in understanding how they differ.

can anyone give me any help as to what the difference is between riding styles from 2 strokes and 4 strokes ? as i have just got a 4rt and my mates keep telling me i am riding it still like a 2 stroke.

hellow, i ve got a 315r with the showa forks i had 8-10wd oil in my fork, but as i saw videos of people bouncing their bikes i clearly say that thiers are way easier to bounce than mine. So today i decided to change my fork oil again, and my left leg seems ok, not as soft as i expected it but ok, while my right fork works well with the cover nut off, but as soon as i thighten it i turns into a stick, it does not compresses at all. something else, i read the adjusting screw on top of my right leg should click every turn.... right?, well mine does not, actually never since i bought it has it click but it sure adjusted the damping on the bike until now, it seems to have …

2012 12 09 -- Sad news: John Haberbosch the owner of Rocky Mountain Montesa has passed away after a motorcycle accident. I'm told by his cousin that a lady pulled out in front of him and he broadsided her car. Although he survived the accident he later passed due to complications. His cousin is answering John's business line. There is a celebration of life service this Saturday but I don't know where. Y'all be careful out there. :'(

Really like the idea of a 4ride for trail riding. I can cope with the fuel range, and gear lever position, but am slightly concerned about the air box. I ride Wales a bit with some fairly deep river crossings occasionally on the Strata Florida and the like. Is the air box exactly the same as on the 4RT? No additional snorkel or anything? Does anyone trail ride one regularly? Cheers Dave

I'm hoping someone here can give me a clue with regard to road registering my Mont but it's not been brought into the UK via Sandifords... This could mean there's a VAT problem waiting for me? I mean if the original importer brought it in and didn't pay the VAT, when I go to register it will I have to pick up the tab?

Hi, just wondering if anybody here has had any experience with Rockshocks on a Cota 348. I am looking to upgrade and these are looking favorites due to the fact they are rebuildable and support seems to be very good from reports on here (also they look very nice) What are other people running with or recommend, the bike will be used on Clubman routes in classic trials. Does anyone know if the 349 Cota has spacers between seat tank and exhaust.my bike the seatgets so hot lying on exhaust that it cannot be ridden.we received the bike as a basket case .thanks for any help anyone can give

OK, I think I understand this tortured way of screwing an engine together. It appears that the head is secured to the barrel by studs coming off the barrel, barrel is then secured to the crankcase via studs coming off the crankcase to tubular nuts with allen fittings..correct? ...and these barrel 'nuts' frequently sieze? ...is there anyway to apply say Plus Gas or WD-40 to these problematic nuts on a regular basis to avoid any future issues or are the nuts blind being covered by the head? ....hope that all makes sense ....for the love of Mary, just what have I impluse bought?....metal on metal clutch plates, clutch springs held on with pins, brass clut…

Merry xmas all. Can see that Rothmans 4rt for sale yr 2011. Looks tidy, with mitani exhaust and other fancy bits. Just wondering, can anyone tell me what is standard spec for this model of bike, and is it considered on a par with the repsol spec bike? Which is the more desirable? Thankyou

i have a cota 123 which will not run below half throttle runs ok if you keep throttle open but soon as falls below half cuts out as if no fuel, i have changed the inlet rubber ,points, condenser still same , also am unsure of choke off position up or down any info greatly appreciated,

Has anybody removed all the ristrictors in the exhaust yet. Had my bike since November and left all the ristictors in place. After experimenting with removing the spark arrestor, i now have removed collar A front pipe and collar B middle box and the rear spark arrestor. Have to say the bike is transformed. Bottom end is as before but power feels increased and comes in with no delay. The bike also starts first time when warm. unlike before. I think this is how the bike is supposed to be but comes fully ristictored due to noise level under load. Note:- no middle box gaskets yet so have to use CR mx

Broke one of the front brake caliber bolts while taking off the forks for a fluid change. 2016 model, only 13 hours on it, this was the first time the bolt was turned since coming from the factory. I need to take the caliber apart to get the remaining bolt out. The manual suggests replacing the whole unit if any part is damaged so no disassembly info. Does anyone have some experience taking the caliber apart? Looks straightforward, only a bolt and a screw, but will it go back together?

Just serviced the swing arm, linkage and shock bearings on my RT260 - just greased and re-installed. The bit of slop in the travel that was there since new is still there and I’ve pin-pointed the top shock bearing as where there is play. Back in my MX days I remember this was often where play occurred. is it just normal to have a bit of play here?

hi ive just stripped the tank off my mont to give it a good service, and ive notice there are 2 pipes coming out of the left spar of the frame, one pipe goes just under the reed block and the other one isnt connected to anything. the only nipple i can see that it could possibly connect to is one in the generator housing? is this correct or am i blind and missing something? haha
