Has anyone found any sprockets for other bikes that will interchange on a 2002 Monty? Sprockets for the motocross and trail bikes are much easier to find. Thanks Brewster

When I ride my bike(2012 4RT) during practice after it's hot and fully warmed up it starts to bog out or stall like it's missing petrol. But it only happens at a specific moment when I give it a bit of throttle and get some RPMs, pop a wheelie or ride up a steep hill etc. I was wondering if anyone knew or had an idea of what it might be Thanks

Every once in a while, the Cota will find a time to stall when rolling the gas on. It is usually followed by a small pop. It will restart fairly easy after. But recently when it does start the idle seems way too low, like it is barely turning over or running. After a couple of seconds, it idles normal. Is this normal or am I just too aggressive at no throttle, cranking it too fast to move forward? Thanks Tom

Afternoon all, Over the weekend I took the plunge and part ex’d my EVO for a barely used 2016 260 4RT in the lovely Repsol colours. Had a great couple of hours on it yesterday and all is well. I did notice however that the chain has very little adjustment left on the snails, I looked at a brand new bike at the shop and also loads of pictures online and they all seem to come with very long chains as new using up half or more of the snail cam. Has anyone else picked up on this or is it me?

I've messed around with the rebound and damping on my 2005 4RT to the point where the front and rear are out of match.. the rears a pogo stick and the fronts a mess (its just been serviced with new heavier oil so i need to re-adjust. Which way do i turn to increase, which to decrease (clockwise or anticlockwise)? I know im a muppet.... Whats the factory standard so i can get it back to that and start all over again? Cheers Jza

i rode my 2008 4rt the day after i bought it, when it got hot it was a night mare to start. i've been told 2 techniques hold down kill button kick it over very slowly 3 times let go of kill button start it and hold throttle wide open kick over slowly twice close throttle start it both of these work eventually but sometimes it would take 10 attempts. since riding it last ive, cleaned air filter (which was saturated with oil and dirt), removed the metal air filter holder (which was also 90% blocked), cleaned every part of bike, fixed slight hole in airbox, fitted new plug. IT'S STILL DOING IT!! any ideas? again thanks for any help you give. wayne

My bike started ok at today's trial as usual, did the first 2 sections no problem but at section 3 the wind blew it over while I was looking at the section, when I got back to it and picked it up it would not start ? It took about 5 mins of kicking and when it did start it was bogged down as if it was a 2 Stoke with a flooded carb, I cleared its throat and rode the section no problems, had to stop shortly after to get through a gate and it would not start again, this time I adjusted the screw on the throttle body and got it going again but it was bogging again. Got to the next section with the bike running fine stopped it looked at the sections and it started 1st kick whe…

Sorry to dominate the thread My Cota 315 (2001) was running fine - I wanted to check the coolant, so I took the tank off to fill it up - since then it wont start. It actually started once, and while it was running around with the choke still on, it stopped and refused to start again. I left the fuel tap on the other night - could that have anything to do with it (i remembered the next day, so it shouldnt still be flooded a day later should it?) Where should I start looking - spark plug - carb - I'm a total newbie to trials bikes- though I do know a bit about car engines (its got fuel in - compression seems good on kick) thanks Lindon

Whats peoples thoughts and experiences. After 5 years on 4rt's is 2012 time for a switch or is the 4rt still as good as the rest in real club man trials. Current ride - 2009 250 4rt twin ptb running modified Sains map. Current ability - O40 riding Normandale's, clubman route on S3 and general clubman/O40s sections. If people have moved from 4rts what have they found suits best and have they improved, got worse or stayed the same. We all know the 4rt is not the size zero super model but in the real world is this an issue. Super suspension, super quality, bullet proof motor and still makes you smile every time you fire her up.

I've been researching 4RT replacement sticker sets on the web to add protection and a bit of bling to my Monty. There seem to be quite a few after-market decal sets around. From the photos I see on ebay they look indistinguishable from originals. ?I suspect that the airbox stickers like the Repsol type will be worn through in a weekend as that's where my left boot grips. But I'd like to find a more longer lasting set for the frame. Can anyone comment if they last? How good do they look in the flesh?

I'm a new Montesa owner and new to trials. The montesa was easiest choice as my buddy already has one and he'll help me work on it. At 105+ kilos i'm too heavy for the stock spring. that is if i want it to do anything other than get squashed under my weight. apparently their is a 10% stiffer spring for those over 80 kilos avail here in the usa. but what about those of us way over? thanks jeff
