Can you get shorter gear levers feels like mines far to long for me to catch it with my foot ?

Is anyone having trouble keeping tire (tyre) pressure in the rear...riding buddy airs up, rides one or two sections and the rear is flat. He remounted the tire, changed the air valve - no help. I saw part of a conversation on Facebook but now can't find it. Appreciate the help.

So I’m after some advice about putting on a rear mudguard sticker. I’ve got a new mudguard and sticker on the way after breaking the current one at the weekend. From what I’ve read and my thoughts here is what I was going to do: Warm the sticker on the radiator. Wet the mudguard with a solution of water and washing up liquid. Starting at the back put the sticker on using a hair dryer to heat and slightly stretch down the middle of the sticker. Work from the middle to the edge squeezing out the bubbles. Repeat with the seat but without slightly stretching the middle of the sticker.

Going to look at a '00 315R soon and was wondering if there are any things that I should look out for that might show signs that the bike is in need of a large amount of dollars spending or has been poorly maintained. Thanks in advance. Barney

Whilst riding in the Manx 2 day the other week, 7 sections from the end the gear box packed up on my 4rt. It was stuck in 1st and would not select another gear or neutral. Which ended my trial. When it was stripped down the gear selector shaft had broken. When I telephoned to order a new one, I got the impession that they have had a few of these break, and that they were designed to do so rather than cause any further damage to the gear box. Quite a clever idea? I don't doubt it was me smacking the gear lever hard against the rock that caused the shaft to break, not that I remember catching it. Surely though it would be better to have a a gear lever that breaks/bends so…

So my new 4RT has come with braktec Master and slave cylinders fitted for both the front and rear brakes. I am assuming hay these are not fitted as standard to a normal out of the box 4RT? My question is relating to the free play in both levers, that is the vertical movement up and down, not the travel of the lever in normal use of the brake and clutch operation. So I would like to know if they all have so much free play? I can only describe it as wobble, it seems to be too much to me, perhaps about 25-30mm of vertical free play in each lever? I assume they have a brass bushing as the bearing inside the actual lever, but do they perhaps need spacers on…

  11. Started by mal315r,

Just rode my 315r for the first time yesterday, bike is spot on. Main problem when starting was as soon as I changed from Neutral to First the bike started pulling away even when clutch lever pulled in fully. Took a bit of a nack to hang on and get going. So obviousley something not right or is it ?

I am lucky enough to be picking up a Montesa 348 this weekend as I am moving over from mono's to good of twin shocks. The last Mont I had was a Cota 123 back in the early 80's when I rode school boy... I am hoping owners of 348's can educate me to the normal maintainance routines (eg oil chages, grades etc), frequency, things to keep an eye on or strange quirks. I thought I read somewhere that the gearbox has a separate oil fill to the clutch? its these bits of knowledge that will help..... thanks in advance Rob

After a few questions on here I eventually found a bike, so I'm now the happy owner of a 2010 4RT. But immediately there's more questions:- First of all, does anyone know from where I can obtain some frame protectors in PLAIN black? All the ones I can find are carbon look and I'd rather have just plain black.

Hi guys, This shaft and its surrounding parts looks the same as other models, its the left hand change version from about 1974. But if you look up other models, like the 200 and the 349 and even the Scorpion from a simlar era, they appear to be the same. Are they interchangeable?

Hi, i had a problem with the clutch dragging on my 348, I have changed the clutch oil and gearbox oil but it is still dragging when I put it into gear so it isn't fully disengaging as it is trying to drive with the clutch held in. Does anyone have any advice as to what the problem might be and what I could do to solve it? thanks dan
