Hi there guys (and girls), I have a Montesa 315 of the year 2000, and was wondering if anyone has had a 315 and tried different carbs. The bike runs perfectly, but the usual knocking is there sometimes when i crank the throttle from low revs (i'm told this is normal). My question is: Has anyone tried another carb on the 315r, if so, which one, and how did it go? I have a spare Mikuni carb. Thanks a lot. Pete

Hi, I’ve just been getting a 2018 repsol which is practically new. Rode for about 8hours absolutely perfect. Then developed a bit of a splutter , the revs drop and It’s cut out a time or two during the ‘splutter moments’ if I rev. When I’ve looked again, the fan has tried to start and flickers at the exact same time as the engine drops revs and runs very briefly below usual idle speed, before picking itself up again. I’ve swapped plug and cap to new and it’s the same. Cleaned air filter. There’s a host of others things to try that I’ve seen online but was hopeful someone here could identify the issue without me having to tamper too much. Any help would be much appreciated…

So, how different are the 260's over the older 250's in terms of engine and chassis Worth upgrading?

I am hoping that all you experienced 4rt guys can help me overcome a starting problem, as I'm new to this 4 stroke lark. The bike is an '06 model and had no more than about 30 hours use. The bike is fantastic and always starts no problem when cold and usually 2nd or 3rd prod when warm/hot. However, I have had the odd occassion when stalling or fiving in a section that it's then been a complete pig to start. The usual "long-prod" technique fails to bring it to life and I end up having to kick it 10 - 15 times. Its knackering and frustrating, esp. compared to the 315r as this obviously fired up as regular as clockwork and got me out of the section pronto. I haven't tamp…

Hello everyone i'm new to the site as me and my father are repairing and eventually restoring my 81 Cota 200 and i'm probably going to need some of your wisdom! I've had the bike for about 4 years now, and it was running fine until one day, it randomly wouldn't fire up (there's no longer a spark), and also the gears are messed up.... It's difficult for me to explain what the gears are doing and i'll give it my best at describing the problem but chances are i'll have to take it to a specialist! right the gear lever/selector wil click up and down but i think it's going into other gears all in one click. i.e if i go up from neutral (when i can get it into neutral that is)…

have checked the 2005 threads on the above . my 2008 bike is no different. can you tell me if the 315 master cylinder is still the way to go? i assume my bike is fitted with a standard m/c as it is a mirror of the brake cylinder. its driving me nut's in tight turns with reverse camber as its almost impossible to apply power. just too on and off. many thanks in advance.

hellow folks, i got this montesa cota 315r, they gave me this huge tank of BLUE GAS, i was told it was mixed with oil already (the front of the thank has a VP sticker). a friend of mine told me it was race fuel, and im about to finish it, im not sure what fuel to use, i dont consider race fuel an option but i could try getting it if nessesary. another important observation, i dont think my bike its running well, it feels ok at high revs, but otherwise it feels like its pushing and pushing and pushing every half/second, i heard it could be that this fuel its too old..... could it have something to do? so my options are: * VP (if nessesary, but tell me which one, caus…

Has anyone ever had any made, mine are de-laminating and to be honest are knackered. Keep looking for good 2nd hand ones but none popping up so considering getting some made but the cost (looks like £350/400) is seriously putting me off. Cheers Mark

Picked up a Montesa yesterday as a project dont know alot about it,it was advertised as a Montesa 250 but he says it could be a 350.Came with a massive amount of spares such as wheels forks cases and what looks like a newer model engine? Just about to change the oil and filter on my new bike. What are you using in your 4RT ? My local dealer recommends Castrol semi 10w40 in the engine and Castrol SLX 0w30 in the gear box. He did say Elf was the best oil but can not supply it. What do you use???

Hi all Just wanting to check wiring coming out of points system. I have bike up and running black wire to coil, Got other wires taped up on the outside of casing what colours are for what as mine is a montesa 348 1977 305.8 cc 51m53 3,300 bikes made. As I am wanting to wire up for lights So do I take 1 wire up to swich on handle bar for a live . Just bought a good example but a few questions about my first foray into fourstrokes (good bit of assimile) after a 315 Mont Tickover seems low - I know 1800rpm is recommended but this one I would guess is about 12-13rpm and wants to stall. Seems like standard gearing on 10/41 - whats the best 10/43 or 10/44 (guess they turned the tickover down instead of correcting the gearing) Exhaust seems loud and has no rear end cap, so that'll be the reason I guess. Is the end cap necessary and if so, how much are they It's got the 315 clutch on it and wide pegs, so is pretty ok and hasn't suffered any rock damage So i'm going to do the fluids and lube her up and see how she …

Hey guys, I'm new to the 4 stroke game. I last rode a 2018 125 beta evo. I havent rode in 5yrs so was just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get the best out of the montesa. I'm 18yrs old and looking to compete at a decent level like the old days. Are these bikes as responsive and snappy as a 2t in thr right hands?

Has anyone figured out how to add flywheel effect to a 4RT?

Now, these links seem to be not working anymore after 31 december 2008. I was working on a download of the parts book but only came to a few pages. Has someone a different link to a parts book of the Montesa 315 ? Or did someone maybe save a copy on his computer ? I would be very gratefull if I could get a (link to a) digital partsbook as I need some parts for my Montesa to complete a rebuild.
