just picked up a '98 315 montesa and am after a bit of advice for setting the suspension up for a lardy. 19St (266 lbs) My enduro bike is set up fine as i've had yrs of experience but i haven't had a trials bike for 20yrs. i've reset the suspension to the factory settings to have a starting point. and will soon be changing the fork oil. again ill start off with the factory recommendation so i have a baseline. What i want to get set right is the sag, done a search and it didnt help much. i think i need to be aiming for about 3" of sag on the rear and 2" on the forks with me on the bike in my riding gear. does that sound about right? does anyone have any idea where i …

Im putting a full topend on my 315 (re-nicosil piston ect ect ect) and i have been given conflicting info about ring gapping by two well respected trials mechanics. one says no need to gap the rings as the tolerances are so fine, and the other say they need gapping to stop the piston nipping, i am undecidad any info or advice would be good thanks. I didnt bother gapping my she-co and it was totaly fine.

Hi all im new to this forum. and in need of some help identifying a montesa project i have just bought? the engine no is 51m8743 the frame reads 51m2004. should these numbers match? also the tank cover says 349 under the many coats of paint! any help would be great and pics of bike in orginal state! thanks in advance!

Saw something the other day about "down and back peg hangers". Does anyone know if these are available and if so where to get any? I'm doing some tinkering with my 315 and wouldn't mind trying a set.

Been to look at an 07 plate montesa. Seems ok part from this best described as a tinny clutch rattle! Any ideas be helpful? Also anyting that I should keep in mind that's likely to be going or wearing? Thanks chris

what's a good price and where from? alternatively, rear guard stickers; what'ss a good price and where from? Mine isn't broken but it's been folded and the coating has peeled and cracked off. Is it paint or something else?

I am considering to go for a montesa 4rt but theirs a problem.I have had a go on the 2014 montesa 260 cota but i haven't had a go on any of the new models. I know montesa are great bikes their very reliable and so on. Is the cota rr worth £8400 and is the repsol worth £7000. Is it worth going the extra money and going for the repsol over the standard cota. The only other bike i have considered is the new sherco 250 2 stroke which i have test rode I have owned 2 strokes which where both sherco but i am willing to learn how to get used to a 4rt many thanks I thought the 2014 montesa cota 260 was great as well as the new sherco

Hi all, picked Up a new Mont today I'm not a fan of switches on the handlebars so was wondering (if anybody knows that is..) if I select the map I prefer then unplug the switch from the loom would that work? Thanks in advance

I know the Repsol 4rt bike comes with the carbon parts and Fat Bars etc, but does it include the laptop software etc for different engine settings, i believe the earlier year repsols did but want to know whether the 08 Repsol does and if not how much does this cost and is it worth buying, cheers iggy.

hi just brought my 1st trials bike and have come across info on montesa,a site sugesting i use 93 octane pump gas and 105-octane race fuel at a 50 50 mix. is this critical or can i use fuel straight from the pump ? Robin ps Bike 315R

Just taken the front wheel out of my 1999 315R. There is a collared spacer on the disc side of the axle, but nothing on the other side. Just wondered as the axle does not sit flush with the forks on the right side. It is actually about 1/4inch in on the bottom fork clamp. Thanks Tommy

Hi all, bought a mont 315 r that hadnt been used for 1 and half years, just been stood, anyways after giving it a good ride, i replaced the gearbox oil. Seems loads better now, but when the engine is at low revs, with the clutch in, it seems to drag a little and bike keeps moving, until i give it a good rev. any ideas please?? i have only been riding around in the garden since changing the oil, so wondering if it just needs a good run in? cheers

Hi all, I have been off for a while due to commitments and illness, Been playing on my 315 for the past couple of weekends to get my body and arms back into it! Anyway my reason for posting, I have just swapped my old Honda Dax chinese copy for a old twin shock monty project, but how do I tell what model it is? I have done all the usual searches but I'm still baffled. It has a twin spark plug head, a amal carb, little metal air box The tank/seat unit is fibreglass. The front wheel is on the wrong way round! Where is the frame numbers on these old models, it could be that the brush painted frame is just thick and I can't see it. I will strip it down and blast …

How hard is it to fit a kill switch to a 315r? Under the tank there are two wires with connectors attached not going anywhere, one is green and the other is black and white, would these be what the switch connects to?

anyone know anything about plug in device for changing settings in power for different terrains , sounds cool .

Does anyone know if 4rt swingarms are year specific? Or are all years interchangeable? Cheers.

Hi all anyone had a brake fluid leak, from the front brake caliper. I noticed some fluid on rim, then on closer inspection, you can see it run from the lower mounting, with front brake held on. it is a 06 bike five months old, 0 miles. cheers in advance, bry.
