    Gearbox

got a 200 and (touch wood) it's the sweetest g.box & clutch I have ever known on a trials (and I've had my share!) bike done about 4 hours now and no sign of plates sticking together (dragging),I was dreaming up all kinds of fixes besides tweaking every friction plate as per "the fix".. will have to change oil soon.. and would like to know other folks preferences re oils . Warranty problems are a ruddy pain but at least Lampkins hold thier hand up and get and do something ..patience I guess
  2. Get a 200 Beta EVO, add a Keihin carb, and you have the best, all around bike to be found! Just done so (came with the Keihin) after a year of purgatory with another make;....agree 100% with you. I'ts a fair bit more Zippy than the 2010 model with clean crisp carburation ..a first for me with Beta.
  3. I'd still like to know how many ID card/licence holders there are now?.. How does this compare to say 20 years ago????? This isn't a secret is it? I used to keep asking that question...gave up after a few years..I guess you are trying to establish if "it" is actually broken and is in need of fixing..agree with your sentiments generally ..the vast majority of riders don't need full on /mega sections and the majority of those who want them will never be able to ride them properly..easier sections marked correctly would be a start in the right direction at all levels.
  4. The only guys I know who may be able to help you are Phillippe & Frank Yvernot (two Brothers who run the Indre club) Phillipe speaks excellent english to contact maybe you will find (by Google?) 3 jours de indre trial or trial club de Indre ..they're down from you near centre town is La Chatre. Of course you have planettrial & trial-club online peut etre tu peut profiter par la? Bonne chance.gazzzzzzzzzzz
  5. Happy to say I.ve changed for a Beta 200..I.ve started smiling again!!!!! It rides good straight out of the box..John Lampkins after sales service is the best in UK (should I need to call) and it will be easy to sell on. I.ll keep on looking in on Sherco problems though...having no bits to make and try leaves me with time to..te he ..in fact ha ha.

    Clutch feel

Flexo springs (google) sorry cant recall part no. you will need to tell them O.dia. I. dia. length, (physical size to fit in place) from memory I wanted c. 80% of the rate and in the end 3 off of what they had on shelf was what did it. There was a min order but I had lumped it in with an other order. I can't dig the invoice up @cause it's with the accountant at moment. Worth doing the work as it made clutch really sweet.. check out previos Sherco forums.

  8. fair play , not even red bull? how does he find time to go to work?
  9. Crap quality and top money..everybody wants something for nothing..suppose leisure industry is always last to be affected by economic crises. If we keep buying it they'll keep on supplying it.
  10. sounds like it needs to come apart. I have seen leonelli flywheels come apart internally.

    Stopped running !

I didn't or don't know what difference the breather hose would do ?? put your finger over the end of a pen tube or straw and suck.... then take your finger off and tell the difference
  12. we'll be there in February .and again in the summer ..we like the classic trials Ardeche, Cruise, Haut Vosges. maybe Ms Molino will be back (Aveyron). The good food ,drink and trials practice grounds (won't mention local to you place begining with Goud) also...you have it very good there ..long may it continue. I know Papy (daniel chaix) from Bagnols..Guy Couble St julien de peyrolas. See you
  13. Victor I hope somebody can help you with the data you need. you are using correct spark plug (not resistor type perhaps) Just replied because Bagnols sur Ceze "rings a bell" is it near Pont St Esprit? Have trials friends there. Bonne Chance
  14. I bought a 2011 st 250 from new. Despite applying 40 odd years of trials experience a Doctorate in Mech eng. with a pretty tidy workshop it compared to ga Gas & Beta is difficult to ride. It is however very easy to work on, the master cylinders and thus the clutch & brakes are spot on, changing air filter is a snap, the basic maechanical parts of the bike stay put together. The rear suspension /shock absorber is crap & it'll cost you hundreds od pounds to try to sort it out,, the footrest bracket angle is 22deg. compared to most others at 30 deg so you will find footrest position a bit different.. I've sorted this on mine but then I'm a footrest nutter. for me personally the steering wasn't too clever either and I have made top yoke to suit me. Put another way ; my bike "shed " a rear tyre yesterday (not for the first time but thats another story) I then was encouraged by friends to finish using thier bikes my missuses 200 evo... so easy to ride ..totally connected to rider & ground... my eyes started to open.... then a good friend let me finish last few sections on a 300 gasser...it was going where I wanted to go with me only having to think about it fantastic machine after 3 sections on this strange to me bike I realised my trials life is too short to continue struggling with the sherco. I guess the Sherco is love it or hate it bike.

    Stopped running !

After 6 posts we know know what bike it is!!!!!!!!!!!!or is Baldilocks guessing?
  16. Just to agree with this just do simple arithmatic. eg. 10 riders stopping/hopping take average of 2 mins each to ride a section, X 10 sections X 4 laps= 800 minutes. even 5 riders X1 minute X10 sections X4 laps =200 minutes. all that without walking /looking waiting for somebody to go first, discussing tyre pressures or something equally wan*er**sh with minder and of course disputing the score aftewards. This just cannot be regarded as progress for our sport Nigel Dabster has the right attitude Me I dont mind, maybe its an age thing but I just love riding my bike, especially in the Richmond events looking down the dales on a sunny day and off down the becks is almost as good as sex. Then again my memories of the 4 days in France a few years back are among my happiest rides too, and thats stop allowed. For me its the events thats the important thing." " I said it recently in another forum . If the manufacturers ,importers, dealers want to sell more product the sales budget would be better spent working towards better land availabilty, simple rules, sensibly priced bikes for sensible sections in sensible championships.
  17. g,day go for the pirelli mt43 they were all the fashion 20 odd years ago When your bike was new. I suppose its just coming into summer over there . From memory IRC are made in Japan they are thin carcass really flexible and may be competitive price wise over there.
  18. several points to watch for first is the rim clean? no dings? and is the weld joint alighned? ( I recently had a long and very tedious...3 months of DNF's and dispute with importer/supplier. voyage of discovery on this subject with a new Sherco 2011 "old type" rim). Also be sure all your spokes are evenly tensioned,, when fitting the new rim tape be sure to stretch/fit it with even tension. I have to admit that when I finally got a replacement wheel I (one at a time) removed every spoke nipple and put a wipe of sikaflex into the "seat of the nipple/rim joint" (this is where you can't do anything else as it's the way they are made). When all were done like this I put a wipe over the heads of the nipples (I left it overnight to "set") before fitting the new rim tape. You don't need a lot and should work tidily ..it.s very easy to get into a right mess!. I checked new IRC against new Michelin and the IRC was 1mm bigger where it sits on the rim so you could have a rim on bottom limit and a tyre on top limit giving you your problem. It is quite easy to disturb the rim tape when fitting tyres.. IRC's require no levers to fit so don't force it. I reckon Ralphs advice is worth doing also. It's a crap system which will work when assembled with surgical precision... not something current bikes are generally recknowned for. Its a pity we as a community of customers ar so easy going.....putting up with these sort of problems... perhaps if we wern't we would have less of them. Reading back It seems pistonbroke said all this anyway.
  19. that looks horrible ..ouch .I have a swiss trials mate who broke his leg last summer and he had (I'm pretty sure he said) calcium injections right alongside the break? to speed the healing. I think this must be what the moto GP guys get. Sorry to be so vague (cant spell that word) but there may be someone reading who knows all about it. Many many years ago I broke a wrist biking got it potted up and after a couple of weeks started riding (my ariel arrow).. all was fine until I rode the bike to get the pot removed...I had to get a mate to pick me up as the wrist was so "weak"..follow the quacks advise re recovery.
  20. Done the survey but I 'm not willing to disclose whwer I practice as its illegal (it being the only suitable unused, probably toxic bit of land "available"... I dont like doing it but if I didn't I would only ever be able to ride in competitions)
  21. Whats wrong with paying (through the nose normally) for a shirt advertising other peoples stuff?
  22. Noticed the footnote at the end along lines of and now the WTC....wouldn't they be better of convincing local /club/ordinary riders that it's worth the money rather than chasing world titles.?.Will they enter for the SSDT?...that'll be a good test

    TR 280

Strikes me the bike would be better delivered complete with software and lead and updates for X years by download I think I'd be pi**ed off if I hads to phone my dealer explain to the right guy the problem ..load the bike up...drive to dealer...wait for analysis...wait for adjustments...test..drive home ..with monotonous regularity (I've been wanting to get that into a post for a while) bla h blah blah. When we owned Monts(4RT) they ran consitently..was that because the software /sensors were more sophisticated or simply because they were 4 stroke.
