You can have a knock just being lean on the pilot jet. You might try drilling out your own jet if you have a few spares.
-
First you should be pushing up from the bleeder. Second the clutch outer hub only goes back exactly as it came apart. It is marked ,but odd as most clutches go back together any which way.
-
I was not a bultaco owner, but it looks like the cable itself had an adjuster that went thru the hole.
-
A one bike trailer would be a much easier solution and would not alter your steering if done properly.
-
I made my own brackets and used rev 3 mounts and pegs. Which moved them further back and lower than the SM ones. I got away with rotating the kick start farther forward on the shaft. Had to teach my son to lightly kick it, but our bike was also an easy starter.

Cody 1st Pat 2nd results are up at NATC site

sounds more like the pilot jet. I`d clean the carb. Do you have an inline filter?
-
Nif40 I see you might be happy with the new importer. I have not seen them post anything yet to any trials related web sites. Be interesting to see if there is any Beta supprt at the national next week.?!
Be carefull what you wish for as this is a very small sport.
-
If you are lucky, it will just be the top hat & spring that sit at the end of the shaft. You have to remove the clutch basket to get to it. If not you will have to split the cases.

He has not said how big the kid is yet, I wish I had the 125`s of today when I was a kid! I`ve been riding trials since `72 and even riding todays 125's is no fun for me. De- tuning a sherco would be easier than the 280 gas gas. P.S. my 12 year old is 5' 11 and 170 lbs will be over 6' before he is 13. Some rules should not apply. He rides a 250. But I do believe world champions should start on 125's, but most are in this sport for the fun factor. just my 2 cents.

I believe it is way past a rumor. The enduro guys have replaced the commos. So are the new importers going to show up at any nationals?
-
With a tube you will have the age old problem of ripping out the valve stem.
-
An o-ring chain is usually the best choice on most motorcycles, But not usually so on trials bikes. Weight, clearance, and trials lack of distance and/or rpm. I`m sure other opinions will show up soon. Besides trials riders are supposed to be thrifty!

To Chewy, The pilot jet is always feeding fuel.
-
The reply about usa has no support for montesa is interesting. All montesa`s imported since Honda bought montesa where a gray market product in this country. Great product ,but no direct factory support since 1993.
-
Put new disc brakes on the front end. Lower the pegs, and take about 14 oz off the flywheel. That bike could still win your Intermediate thru senior expert. That is what fun is!!!
-
If it is running hot is the fan rotating?
-
I`ve had quite a few rev 3`s and the `03 was a lame duck in the power dept. Never had a liking for that bike.
-
Just finished my son`s bike. What a difference, the best ever mod I can think of doing for free. Wished I`d had this back when I got my first `89 Beta. Can`t believe how many points it would of saved through the years. I cheated and used a dremel for the whole thing. Thanks Dan for the great advice!!
-
Beta`s have always had first too low and second too high. Two solutions, work on your clutch control or go one tooth higher on the rear sprocket.
-
The filler cap is under the black plastic frame cover on the left side, the one with the B. The early model rev 3`s had the sending unit somewhere towards the top of the radiator.
-
You actually answered your question. You have to be more perfect on your tire placement. Coxy`s comment will work well since the end result is getting the rear end over. It could be everyone you are watching is just using more momentum. Speed is always the easy way over anything. Practice the correct moves during practice, but momentum during the event is hard to beat as long as you can control it.

First post is the way I like to show the newbies. If your bike has sat for a while the easy way to get it started is to lay it on it`s side till you have fuel coming out the the over flow. This should prime the engine and start first or second kick. I this does not work you might need to clean the carb, pilot jet is probably plugged up.
I like to throw in some language for the spectators.
-
You have to show the bike who`s the boss. Make sure the petrol to the on position. After ten kicks, throw it to the ground in disgust. Jump up and down on it, yelling `piece of sh?t, piece of sh?t!!` Then pick it up and it will start with in two kicks. Works 99% of the time.
