World Championship Chat

If Tony Bou is not allowed to contest full WTC/INDOOR series some problem w/ the rules needs fixing now. How can a board of men make him wait ,a rider w/ skills enough to win or even podium any WTC event is obviously up to par and should be part of the show. I would like someone who knows how the classification system works to eplain it please. What a year 06 should be w/ about 6 different riders realistically likely to score big points w/ overalls and podiums.

I see from today's results that the FIM have enforced the minimum weight limit rule. So, did they catch some big budget factory team gaining an unfair advantage over less well funded riders? No, they disqualified a female riding an importer supplied production bike. Well done FIM!

So TC came up with the scope that Bou was, at the end of the season, joining Montesa HRC signing a 2 year contract. I'd heard sometime ago that Montesa were looking for a Spanish male rider to challenge for the WTC. To me Toni Bou is the obvious choice, young and talented. I personally think its a good move for Toni, Montesa HRC have unquestionably the best factory set up and the chance to be team mates with fujigas and Lampkin and the experience they bring will be if great benefit for his future asperations. In the past Doug predicted Bou as being a future World Champion, the reality of that just took a huge step forward.

We've heard the chorus of disapprovals to the trial being held in the Central American country of Guatemala but hears to a successful weekend for all the British Riders. Hopefully we'll see Doug not just get on the podium but top it and see Dibs carry on in much the same vein as his first round performance. Another fine Atom performance in the Junior and a Wiggy podium. Not forgetting all the other British riders who have made the epic journey west. Oh and lastly can we have the above for both days. Just seen the team (yes I know it I am slow) why no D Lampkin? Was he asked and he refused? or was he just overlooked because he did not compete in this year’s WTC? A few years ago after Graham Jarvis was brought out of retirement to compete in the UK team for the TDN because we did not have enough skill in the lower ranks so why not DL being called out of WTC retirement/.. DL would still beat 3 of the 4 members selected, plus many of the contenders riding the World Championship. Surly he is still good enough to be selected even just for the experience he has. If the selectors decided he was not good enough why not make him team manager? I wish the 4 lads all the bes…

If frexia has left scorpa and gone to gas gas, who will be riding for scorpa in 08???

Everybody seems to second guessing the weather for this weekend at Hawkstone. Surely the worse the weather the better for the British lads, especially Dougie. If it P****S down all day Sunday, my money would be on Dougie over Bou. The same goes for all the Brit riders over Euro opposition. Not good for the event though, spectators etc!

OK so I was watching the FIM trials videos from MavTV and my wife was playing on her iPad and watching somewhat when she says, "Why does Toni Bou always make the really big steps and nobody else does?" I, of course, went into a long winded explanation about his conditioning and the technical expertise of Honda along with very deep pockets, blah blah blah... She wasn't buying it. She made me replay some of the big hits over and over in slow motion and full speed and said she didn't know what but something was different about the way Bou hit things. It is not Rocket Science to see that the WTC may die a death if something isn't changed. There are several things that could make it better but I have a couple of ideas, and I will await the TC bashing brigade to shoot me down? The best riders seem to be coming out of Europe so maybe we should concerntrate on keeping within these countries. If each Country runs their own Championship, but nominates one round to count towards the World Championship then this would surely be easy to accommodate? This keeps the cost down and maybe it will encourage the factories to help and support more riders if funds are available. I know this may upset Japan, America, and all the other…
