I see this fat rider at a muddy trial some time back he plodding along a on Sherco doing really well. The bike had next to nothing suspension travel but this didn't appear to be a problem. In the mud he was really good and found lots of grip as a novice rider. My question is should i put weight because most sections in Kent are muddy? I like Mcdonalds and KFC and don't mind the odd pie, these outlets/foods are on my healthy food list so perhaps i should eat a lot more chocolate. I do my best to stay away from chocolate as i know your all going say that it is bad for me.

heres the deal . ive came across a cracking stream about 100 yds long with everything you could ask for ,just the right amount of water ,loads of rocks and a 4 foot waterfall and all about 2 min ride from my house and easy access through a gate . problem is i would never get permission to use it and the landowner be not be happy if i was to get caught . so what do i do just steam right in there ,hope i never get caught and have a great time conquering it or do the decent thing and be a law abiding citizen and regret it forever. what do you think

Hi guys, I am in the process of buying my first bike. I have ridden when I was a teenager but only used a RTX 125 from Bumpy and got onto smaller splats. Going up ramps backwards etcc. I was never allowed my own bike and in my first house didn't have room for one. Now I have a big garage and want to get into it. A little old now at 29 but it would be a nice way to destress! Which clothing companies make trials riding gear? I know about Hebo and Clice but they are pretty limited in thier designs, everything seems to be red or blue! Are there any other brands that you can recomend? Cheers folks!

I have heard the montesa 4rt only has one problem finding grip. Is the new montesa 4rt any better at this because of the new mapping. At a local trials they said the grip was unbelieveable on the 2016 montesa 4rt cota. I was told by my local dealer the montesa 4rt arent good at climbing up muddy grassy mounds. The only other thing that is putting me of buying a montesa is the weight. I mean is it still easy to bouce it around. I know their is a lot of things you can do to improve your grip. But is it necessary with the new models and is the repsol worth the extra money over the standard cota. I have tried the cota and it was great. Many thanks

I publish my first post out of pure ignorance but I can't seem to find any info on the matter. It seems most bikes run a 5 or 6 speed gear box. Just wondering if all those gears and the added weight are necessary?

We all read the posts on here, there seems to be a lot recently about which route, how hard, which class etc etc. Now take a step back and think how this might look to an outsider or newcommer to our sport, (i'm fairly new to this and it confuses me) Trials can have 1, 2 or 3 routes. The easy route can vary from easy for newcommers to easy for people with a few years experience. Score on easy routes can vary from 0 marks lost to around 180 marks lost (for some). The expert route can be very easy for some experts with the odd trial being won with no marks lost. If you score less than 5 marks the trial was to easy. If you score over 100 marks the trial was to hard. …

In an effort to come up with a topic nobody has covered, I came up with this one. You've finished your trial, had the obligatory after apres trial pint, driven home, washed the bike down and put your muddy gear in the wash. Time to run a hot bath and have a muscle relaxing soak in the tub. What bubble bath do you use?

If ground clearance, mudguard clearance, stability and suspension travel are ignored. Does sliding the fork tubes up allow the bike to make a tighter turning circle?

First time I'm attempting the beginner route in a local trial tomorrow! Been practising since September, having seen other trials put on by this club I've got an idea of the difficulty level, feeling more confident after more practice. Last time I went to one of their trials I wimped out and practised on the conducted route instead, haha, not tomorrow! Having talked to the land owner he sad it will be over muddy banks, through a stream and woods. Grip will be interesting. My goal is to complete all 10 sections over 4 laps, never-mind about the points first time out, I just want to finish and do my best. I would like to understand whom amongst us are right or left handed. Do you think that one has an advantage over the other with respect to riding trials. In the history of great trials riders does any body know for instance is Jordi L or R H, Dougie L or R H etc. Serious question with serious outcomes to the future of trials. M4RT
