How can we say our sport is not growing ? just look at the user count on this board ! since I've been here there are 4800 + new members , and alot of them hang on .... The event I rode last weekend had alot of interested spectators of all ages ... All seemed to be keen on the point of it being a competition and not a "race" .... Let's pick the ball back up from when it was dropped in the mid 70's and show all of motorcycledom what a fine sport trials IS !!!! And it at all levels is a family freindly pastime... Bored, waiting for paint to dry !.!.!. , Glenn

Observers we just can't have trials without them. Having run a very successful club trial over the weekend with lots of help from club members albeit the usual suspects, the most vexing problem (I think thats called an issue nowadays) was to find willing observers, we had 77 entries, half an acre of ground, 10 sections, 3 routes plus a mix and match for what we class as clubman experts..... and by start time with 77 riders revving up and itching to go 5 observers. As COC I circulated for first lap filling in and persuading some of the many friends & families of riders to take a board/section. We got there in the end and I then went around offering "comfort breaks" to …

I'm new to trials and am looking at two used bikes: 2005 Montesa Corta 4RT and a 2011 GasGas 250TXT. Asking price for both is the same - the Montesa appears to be almost mint (orig owner), while the GasGas is scratched up but in excellent shape. I don't care about aesthetics that much, except for the resale value and, yeh, it's kind of nice to put my own dents in a bike. Also, I'm not sure if parts availability will be significantly different between the two. Thank you!! in advance for any ideas and suggestions. I've done some research on-line but haven't found anything that deals with my specific options.

Hello i changed the rear tire from my beta Rev 3 4T. Afther that the tire runs flat afther a 10 minutes ride. Before i put on the michelin X11 - light there was a Michelin trial - comp on the wheel. What could be the problem? Greathings Luc (the belgium trial guy)

Please forgive me if this has been covered before, I searched but couldn't find anything. My lad loved building the paper GasGas cut-out model posted on here a while ago, and is nagging me to track down plastic kits of Trials Bikes. I've googled for ages and trawled the Airfix website but found nothing. Anyone come across anything ? I'd appreciate any pointers, thanks.

This summer I want to buy my very first brand new bike, so naturally since I will be dropping a significant chunk of change on it I want to make sure I get whats best for me. I can get Betas and Gas gas's the 2010 gas gas looks absolutely amazing, the beta.. not so much. I wont be doing any comp riding just trail ridding through the woods and such. what are your opinions on which bike will be more reliable and maybe handle higher speeds better? I might be able to get a sherco as well. I hope I don't tick anyone off with this post Thanks

Wanting to upgrade my current machine and two options have come up, 2015 Beta 300 and a 2015 Sherco 300. Both are the same money, age and condition give or take. Which would you choose? I'm leaning towards the Beta as I've read they are a bit better made and I will get longer out of it but can't decide. Any other thoughts either way?

Hi, coming from having road bikes all my adult life, and being a m/c mechanic and machinist, I know about chains and lube. But, now I've got into trials bikes as well, i'm in a dilemma about lubing the chains on my two ty250 mono's. Where I ride, the soil is almost like a lime, sandy condition. Whatever is put on the chain, either proper aerosol Silkolene chain spray, or g/box oil from an oil can spout just on the rollers, it's just like flies being attracted to sh... Anything will attract the sand. So. lately I've been running the chains dry, no lube and giving them a brush down post ride. At 12 quid for a new length of brand name chain locally, this seems my b…

In various chats about bike development etc its 2t, 4t, electric etc and always rumours about Honda releasing a new bike in 2020- 2021 etc and guessing what they may do next - it wont be a 2t as currently their policy is against that technology but it got me to thinking about a hybrid bike. Trials is probably 70% low power with 30% max power. Lots of descents as well for regenerative braking. Just wondered if a small capacity engine with back up electric would work. Weight would always be a drawback but maybe combined generator/motor, minimal fuel, single speed may off set it. Just a random thought but would be an interesting project - might be i…

There seems to be quite a few topics related to fuels on this forum. I'll add my contribution here. The content of both these write-ups was posted on other forums as far back as 10 years ago. My thinking has not changed. Ethanol Technical Perspective.pdf Leaded Gasoline Technical Perspective.pdf

I was just wondering if any clubs/championships ever offer prize money? Does the British championship give out cash? If I was to offer a sum to the winner of an event, how much would it need to attract a top entry, or is it a waste of money?

OK, since joining this forum a few months ago, I have contributed to other people's threads, and may even have ventured opinion. Worse, I may have offered advice. Today, I rode the Cambridge Matchless trial, and what a fine event it was. However it has now become abundantly clear that I suck. Seriously, first section was a gentle turn over a root and I made a gentle turn over the bars. The first lap took me over an hour and I lost count of my score. It was easier to count back from a maximum! I had a great day, but I apologise to anyone who has taken any notice of anything I have written and urge you to not do so in the future. It is clear I don't know what I'm talking …
