Trials Transport

I'm hopefully picking a bike up on friday and I'm in a rush to get a tow bar as I can lend a trailer for now but my eyes are on a dave cooper rack for future reference. What sort of mounting is it that they use? From what i understand, you dont need a tow ball as it bolts to where the tow ball usually bolts to. Would this do? I have got a trailer for my bike.But last summer I needed to get my bike to Mallory for the 1000 bike do in which I competed in the pre 65 trial.I also needed my bike at another couple of events. So not wanting to drag the Panther a round on a trailer during the summer I came up with this. 16 bolts to remove the body off my ural and a sheet of chipboard and a few blocks and straps. Has anyone here any experience with a motolug http://www.motolug.com/index.php folding trailer that they can share? I know they are not the cheapest, but I like the idea of being compact to store and having the option to assemble it as a one or two bike trailer. If anyone has used one I would be interested in your feedback on the quality, ease of assembly/disassembly and how well it tows. Thanks in advance.

Coming back to trials and always previously used an Erde trailer but I don't have the room any more so considering a Dave Cooper rack... Will this fit the land rover OK? Grateful for any help..

Whats the best way to fix 2 trials bikes in a 6ft x 4ft pickup bed? The bikes are a little over 6ft so tailgate down? Bikes on a diagonal? Pictures would help.

Being a car guy I have had many trials haulers. Not being deterred by size or original intent I have been known to show up at an event with various rides. The soon to be Mrs. and I decided this past winter to head on down to trails training days on top of our east coast nationals. For the past couple of years we have been doing this out of my Passat station wagon which can haul the gear but it can get a bit old when talking about a long weekend or even a longer trip. I have a 2005 Ford Fiesta which we are looking to put a Dave Cooper bike rack onto the back for a supermoto pit bike. I believe that the nose weight is just over 60kg but the bike weighs 71kg. I am worried that because it is over the weight it will affect the steering of the car? Also if anyone has any advice or experience on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

the hitch isnt locking on my new towball, is it possible that the hitch is smaller than 50mm, i thought they were all standard size?

I have got fed up with towing a 2/3 bike trailer and am planning selling it and buying a van. The van is to hold 2 trials bikes. i have a newish Fiat Doblo LWB in mind. i would welcome comments from owners of small vans , particularly Doblo owners, and smallest feasible engine size.

Can anyone help out ??? I want to insure my 2006 Sherco trials bike and its not road registered.... Spoke to Carol Nash...There quote 149.00 for in the garage and to and from events...seems alot to me !!! I also have a KTM 400 exc insured with E BIKE but the Sherco needs to be road registered 1st before they will add to my policy....for a extra 28:00 (which is very good) But looking at the hassle off road registering a bike over 6 months old seems to be a nightmare !!!!! Can anyone recommend a insurance company who will insure un registered bikes ???? Cheers Phil

Good morning, iv had a good search around the site and still can't find the answer. I'm looking at getting my first trials bike and need to sort a method of transport What I'm after is if I get a rack for the back of my Volvo V40 (63plate) and have the bike secured will the boot still open? And how close to the rear of the car will it be? If anyone has pictures of the above set up it would be appreciated Cheers Richard

I just finished this tonnaeu cover/Ramp for my F150 short box. All Aluminum (Aluminium for folks back home) checker plate tonnaeu cover & light bar. The ramp is double slide as the bed rails are about 4'6" & the bed length is only 5'6", so a double slide ramp out of grip strut is welded to the under side of the tonnaeu cover. Fully lockable (as the OEM tailgate is lockable). I have more pics but have to get them uploaded tonight & will post more pics if anyones interested.
