Trials Transport

Having enquired direct to ACU and as yet recieved no response ; Is there anybody out there who can summarise the one day road insurance "deal" for trials? i.e what are eligibility rules, how much is it , who offers it

Can anyone reccomend some good insurance company's that will allow me to insure my bike on a frame number temporarily whilst I get the registration sorted with the DVLA? Ive had some really good quotes but when I ask if they will insure it on the frame number they say "yes, but your premium might go up a little bit", A little bit is more like triple what my original quote was for a week of being insured without a reg plate...... another alternative I thought of which is a bit naughty..... would it be possible to take out insurance at silly money, then cancel it during the 14 day "cooling off" period under some sort of condition like " I didnt realise i wasnt insured f…

It has been bothering me for a while that my insurance bloke suggested that I ought to take out a separate policy for my,(and my kids) bikes for fire and theft.Can anyone suggest a company who understand and any idea of cost etc.If this has been done to death before please shout at me,but ins companies seem to load policies at will for odd reasons so I thought a fresh request may be in order. I have had a 2003 montesa for about a year now and i would like to get it insured however the insurance company said they wouldnt insure it unless i had a reg number, when i bought my bike i had no details or reg number given to me. could i request a reg number? if so how??? any info would be nice cheers

does anyone bother to insure their bikes ? if so can anyone recomend a company that will quote for theft cover. my bike is road registered but unless it has full working everthing (lights, horn, speedo,indicators, ect.) it wont be covered on a road policy.

I'm looking for a van for transportig my Beta Evo about. I kind of like the SWB low roof transit connect with a sliding side door. Does anybody use one? Any pics of your trials bike in the back of one? Thanks

Can anybody enlighten me as to a van that seats 3 in the front, will accommmodate 2/3 extra seats in the back or has crew-cab and will take 3+ bikes in the back, without going as big as the obvious LWB Sprinter/Iveco. My mate's got a Vauxhall Vivaro and it goes like a car, this is what i would ideally go for but it's not quite big enough. I need to park on my drive, and also dont fancy a big clumsy thing that gets stuck easily and 5's the car park before i even get my bike out. Cheers

I picked this up on another Forum, to transport your Trials bike to events Would it be ok?

Saw this motorcycle sport trailer at a recent motorcycle show. Was pretty flash in the flesh and could even carry a camp stretcher or two to sleep in for an overnight trials comp??? The front compartment has battery for lighting and a big area for dirty gear... muddy boots et cetera, hose out when home??? Cost was just under 10,000 english pounds.... don't know if thats good or bad in England? It was $18,000 hearer and seemed reasonable value for the fit out. You can even cook up a storm at lunchtime ...on the bar-b-cue!!! It also has water tanks. I would like it to have a bit more clearance for off-road towing to get into the harder camp ground accesses? Hi, thinking of changing my car in the new year. Quite fancy an x-type but would like to know if they are any good with a bike rack on. I know they will have plenty of power as I will be going for the diesel. My only concern really is ground clearance at the back when laden with the bike, They do seem to sit lower than my current car which is a Mondeo. Would like to hear from anyone who is using an x-type with a bike rack. Many thanks, Stephen.

Has anybody tried to contact Kliponoff recently. I do know that the business has been sold on and moved to Nelson in Lancs I think but the telephone number was redirected to the new owners. I have tried in the last week and the number is now not recognised, wondered if anybody knew who or how to contact the new owners? Cheers Steve

We've had a Kliponoff trailer for about fifteen years now and its been ultra reliable, just after renewing the indespenion units and hubs but can't find any contact numbers for the company. Heard they stopped trading a while back but someone at a trial recently said they had started up again somewhere West/Souty Yorks area. Be grateful if anyone has a contact number for them. Thanks.

Hi, not sure if this is the right forum for this, but it is linked. I know a few people do laid up insurance for trials bikes but dont know who they are!!! I have been told that NFU do/used to do it, but everytime I have ever rung them the say categorically that they DO NOT offer insurance for trials bikes. Hi All, Does anyone know if it is possible to get a trials bike inside a Land Rover 110 hard top? I've looked at dimensions and it appears marginal, so I'd welcome feedback from anyone that has actually tried it. Thanks, Neil

Very close to buying a 110 station wagon. It's been covered on here that you can get a bike in the back (2 at a push) but just wondering how easy it is? I can't be doing with loosening bars or taking bits off. I just want to roll in and out. Is that possible?

Reckon I'd manage to get a trials bike in the back of a series 1 L/R discovery? It's only to pick up another bike so not a permanant solution. Front wheel off I reckon it might? Ta.

One of the headlights on my LDV Cub (rebadged Nissan Vanette) has failed. No biggie, but I can't work out how to remove the headlight unit so that I can replace the bulb! I've tried every retaining bolt and clip in the vicinity but the unit remains very securely attached. If anyone has one of these beasts and acan point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Fitted my DC rack to the Freelander and the rack looks great though the height to lift the back wheel looks very high... anyone have any tips on getting it up high enough to load... think the beta will be OK but my Sherpa is a lot heavier...
