Some advice for this years event..................... Your rucksack can never hold everything you want, but they CAN hold everything you need. Wear Heavy Boots. You can't kick ''Rocks'' when you're wearin' yer Wellies You'll get farther down the road if you learn to back her off a bit. Never ask your bike to scream before her throat is good and warm. If you ride like there's no tomorrow-there won't be. Daily maintenance should never be neglected, and is advisable If it take more than 2 bolts to hold it on, it's probably crucial. Maintain your bike well: motorcycle boots are NOT comfortable for walking. If you can't get it goin with bungees and electricians tape-i…

We'll be out again this year taking photos and video for TC. There may even be a DVD if we get round to it. What I need to know is your rider numbers. These forums are great but you never get to know peoples real names. This makes it very difficult to identify riders on the entry list. If you provide you rider number and real name we'll try and make sure you get extra TC coverage.

Considering a new bike and prefer something I can thrash rather than fight. Would a lower capacity bike, like a Beta 2T 200cc cut it for a SSDT first timer?

Hey All I have the opportunity to visit Fort William during the SSDT this year. Sadly I can only do one day but I have a choice between, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Which is the best day to spectate? And where to go and at what times? The official website has given me some very good info but a few more opinions would not hurt the situation. Ideally I want to see some interesting sections and see some of the bigger names but most of all have a great day. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Courtesy of Shirty. This is also on the front page. Gas Gas Pro SSDT check list. 1. Check spokes in both front & rear wheels for tightness as they may have worked loose since first being checked. 2. Fit new MICHELIN tyres on the front and back. The heat generated on the road destroys tyres and only Michelins stand the abuse. You can get the whole week out of one rear tyre but we recommend using two. We also recommend using a thicker Enduro inner tube in the front. 3. Repack your silencer with some good quality packing wool. (We recommend SILENTSPORT). It

  12. Gas Gas team mates Dougie Lampkin and Michael Brown share the lead at the end of day one of the 2011 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) after a glorious opening to the centenary edition of this World famous event. Both Lampkin and Brown completed the first of six days without any loss of marks having ridden the initial thirty observed sections that took them on a fifty-eight mile tour of the Scottish Highlands in an overall time limit of just over seven hours. Whilst conditions out on the moors were as dry as they have ever been, the lack of water over the winter months had left the boulders green and greasy. Uninterrupted sunshine shone throughout the day as the two hundre…

Can anyone tell me how common bike swapping is during the ssdt. Obviously against the rules I presume but not uncommon I'm lead to believe, anyone care to comment

Number Eighty, caught dabbing. Only #264 has dabbed less in the last five days. So this is one of those rare shots. That's unless someone claims he didn't dab in the photo? Runner-up cool picture goes to the photo taken moments before this alleged dab.

I know the routes are due out about now, but does anyone know if it will be the usual group Monday afternoon? Lagnaha, is that what it is called? The one where they sell the cake and tea from the hall opposite. Coming up on the road bike and won't get there until Monday pm so will head straight there if that's the case. Then sort out programmes and tents and stuff later. Cheers Dave

Heavy rain and strong winds at times failed to knock Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) off course as he moved within touching distance of recording a seventh Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) win following his performance today. Lampkin parted with only one mark on day five to open up a commanding lead ahead of tomorrow's final showdown as his nearest challengers faltered in the testing conditions. Sam Connor (Beta) will head into day six trailing Lampkin by twelve marks as he dropped ten marks today, that being his heaviest daily loss of the week to date. Connor will need to rediscover the form that has seen him sit close to or on top of the leaderboard all week if he is to claim t…

Hello Can anyone tell me where to get the thin yellow plastic that some company's use to make their number plates? I bought the complete kit from splatshop but the plate cracked the other week and I want to make a new one plus a few spares

Wow... 6 for the day, all single dabs, same as Colomer and Jim Lampkin. Plenty of 'names' have cast away double that! Very Impressive!

I know this is a long shot but someone in this website is bound to have a complete collection of SSDT programmes so where better to ask. In either the '72 or '74 programme there was a b&w picture of spectators watching a rider going through a section at Ben Nevis (I think it may even have been Malcolm Rathmell) and it just happened that me and my dad were in the photo. I used to havre a copy but managed to misplace it over the years. I know it's a long shot but if anyone has a copy could you please post it or e-mail me a scan of the picture. For all I know someone may even have al the programmes online already. Thanks.
