Aircooled Monoshocks

Hi...My TY250R mono starts 2/3 kick and ticks over fine, once I kill the engine walk a section and go back to kick it over it wont start, I've tried leaving the petrol on/off but no joy, anybody else experienced similar ?

Besides the obvious disc brake, graphics and I think rear spokes is there much differenc between the TY mono with red frame and plastic tank and a Pinky. Not fussed on the TY with a steel tank. Thanks in advance

I've noticed that in the ACU Classic trials that they are using the new Scorpa air-cooled 125s and this lead me to thinking. I noticed that the bore on the Montesa RT4 and XR250 are the same. I have the chance to pick up one of these bikes but know nothing about this model. I seem to be missing the gap between the 349 wich I owned and the 310 wich was much more like the modern cota. Are spares easy to get? Did they send very many to the U.S.? i just picked up an old TY250r mono thats in good shape and has had many of that periods mods already done. Maybe I should pick up the cota and sell the TY. Thoughts anyone?

Hi all, Spent a couple of hours in the quarry on the weekend just having fun and then it happened...bike came down on top of me but I managed to save any damage(bike not me)...as I was holding it up (and trying to think how do I get out of this one) it occurred to me does anyone really give the underside of the engine a really good clean? Just a thought Feet up!

Steve Jewitt was the Mecatecno uk importer and was based on the High street in Driffield ,Northumberside. I think his father may have been named Colin. I need to ask him a few bits a pieces re the skywalker and Dragonfly bikes i have.Noone has any info on these bikes at all and i figure that Steve may be my last chance at shedding some light .Is he still involved in the biking community?. Hi just wonderd if anyone would know where to get a front disc cover for my ty mono .it's had the 80s shirty convertion at some stage .

I am currently rebuilding a JCM 240 Europa - one of the Streit models - I think 1989. I dont appear to have the correct rear brake set up. does any one have a parts diagram or photo of the correct caliper & cylinder? unit I have is a Brembo but the hose looks short, Cylinder mounting screws are 6mm - holes in frame are 8mm. any of you guys have any experience of this?

It looks like all the previous TR34 owners have upgraded or broken their bikes as they have stopped asking questions! Therefore it is my turn to ask a newbie question. I've not done an oil change on my 1989 TR34 yet and I have no idea what oil to use. Reading other threads has left me bamboozled. I know I need 800cc gear oil as it states this on the Beta website. What is the best grade oil as I don't have to worry about having a Beta with a dodgy hydraulic clutch? Also I'm currently using up an old Motul 2T oil at about 70/1 with the expensive shell high octane petrol. hi i allready own a beta but on sat im picking up a honda i think its a 200 2 stroke mono shock can any body tell me what model it is looked at tlr but seems to be twin shock its old but was riding it on sunday and its very good for its age it has the tank and seat unit all in one and is blue and white not paying a lot for it cheers

Hi, I'm considering a 1985 jap import TY 250 Mono, just wondering what peoples thoughts are on these, any pros cons or things tor look out for? This has the autolube fitted, is this system easily removable, being an import are their any specification changes to be aware / wary of? Cheers!

Hi, I have a TY250 mono with a pro monty front pipe and sammy miller back box and rebored to 261cc with wossner piston, just wondering if there is a carb upgrade from the original as can not get it to run right always running on when it gets hot tried cleaning carb out I have left jetting as it was. If there is a carb upgrade where to buy one from

hi guys can anyone help im trying to remove the engine in my ty250 mono but i cant get the bolt out that runs thru the rear of the engine case and the swingarm, i have tried heat, wd40 and i just cant get it to move and cant replace the mains and oil seals till i get it out thanks in advance j ps runing out of knuckles to skin now

I finaly found a TY Mono 250, I had a 350 a couple of years ago but could'nt pull myself to fix it ( a 350 was not what I wanted ) so I sold it for the price I had paid to someone who was locking for one. My new aquisition need some tlc but is in a fair shape, I don't want to make it a SSDT winner but a good reliable trial machine. In the serial number there is 44H so I assume it's the model, Since it's running I was able to test ride it at home and first thing that came to mind was " Am I on the second floor? What are you running for gearbox oil in your TY250 or 350?

Hi all As anyone who has owned an early Beta knows (and has scars to prove it) the kickstart is very ordinary. Has anyone drilled and tapped the kickstart shart and fitted a later model kickstart?
