The last US World Round was 2008. There will be no US round for 2012. Thats a 4 year dry spell, the longest ever? The Aussies have a WR for 2012.

Just curious about the section difficulty for the EX and PRO lines; is the scores in the PRO class going to be single digits for the winners or will there be a real challenge to show off for the "media"??

  3. Started by sideup,

Andy, I have a suggestion. Since about 80% of the posted topics on "Across the Pond" turns into Lane making some unrelated remark against the NATC, why don't you give him his own category. That way it will not clutter up the Across the Pond forum. AND In that way people who wanted to read this type of stuff could easily find it. Any suggestion for a title? Jack

Ok, After reading all the great posts in the topics about how to save our sport in the U.S., it looks to me that three main obtsacles have emerged. #1 The economy, which we have no control over. #2 Distance. Not much that we can do about that either Heck, Utah alone is 1.5 times the size of England, 89,000 sq miles, compared to 50,000 sq miles. As far as I know, there is not another Trials rider within 100 miles of where I am sitting in my kitchen. So, if a rider is going to make that 3-4 hour one way drive to get to an event, how do we ensure (as much as humanly possible) that he has a good enough time to want to go to the next one? #3 Section difficulty. T…

Pat's out time is 9:58 AM. #45 in your program. Weather is drizzle rain, but looks to clear by the afternoon. About 50 degrees. Course looks to be very technical. Mountain sections, forest sections, river sections and beach sections. I don't have to tell you, the Junior class is stacked with talented riders. With that.... Go Pat Go!

I was a spectator both days and was VERY impressed with the European Youth riders on their 125's. They made most of our Expert riders look really bad. It was almost embarrassing. Here are their scores from Sunday: YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL RESULTS 1. Alexz Wigg - 34 2. Loris Gubian - 36 2. Matteo Grattarola - 43 4. Sam Haslam - 46 5. Lee Sampson - 51 6. Alfredo Gomez - 64 7. Ross Danby - 70 8. Nicolas Karim - 71 9. Robert Andrews - 80 10. Christian Kregeloh - 91 11. Alexis Roscapana - 105 Here are the top three US Experts scores: Ray Peters - 96 Will Ibsen - 105 Sean Bird - 109 They rode the same "green" lines. Ray and Sean as well as Travis Fox who fai…

Some of the clubmembers are having a discussion regarding interpretation of the written NATC rule for foot rotation. The choices are: (1) one point for the foot plant and another point for rotating the foot= 2 points for dab and rotation. (2) One point for for dab and no added point for rotation= 1 point for dab and rotation. We all agree that a dab and drag is 3 points. Any opinions? Jon

You make a grave mistake living in the past and comparing you or me to anything happening today Ron. We are old news! You also make a BIG mistake using Geoff Aaron as a role model or yardshick Ron. I'am glad to see you fired up though! Don't get me wrong, Geoff is a pal of mine and I give him a helping hand anytime I can having walked the path before him. I know how tough it can be for him! Yes he is a great businessman and a really nice guy. I wish him great success in anything he does. Especally winning at life after trials, which is really 1st prize after all. Only, and I mean only by comparing any US trials performance standard to Sanz and Raga, then to those t…

As a newcomer to the sport 6 years ago I had this idea that with the computer age and trials forums that trials was going to get a shot in the arm as the rest of the country learned of the sport and grow. There was a lot of talk Michlin, Alan B and others cussed and discussed the best plan to grow the sport and even if the sport needed to grow. Many said Trials is what it is it wont grow and it wont die at the time and didnt necessarly agree with that statement but im starting to come around. Here is the problem from where i live (sw missouri) there is/was 5 clubs within 300 miles the avg attendence for a club event is as roughly as follows club #1) 25 riders 3 under 18 …

What should they do next to WOW the crowd?, They should have some pretty good backing now to set up props. My first thought is a van or car or motorhome, U Haul Truck. People need to relate to something. When you say they rode up a van, people have a grasp of what they did. When you say they jumped from one stand to another it is hard to get. I was thinking a hot chick to bunny hop over or more hot girls is always good. A good chase scene. What ideas do you have.Lane could help them (seriously). Ringo could MC, Pat could give a speech?? Lets give them some ideas (like they need our help).

I was thinking recently about world contention, and thinking about similar sports etc. and what it took too get there. I drew the parrallel in my mind of gymnastics and Ice skating. I do not know much at all about those sports, but some thoughts came to mind. The World champions in those sports start training at a very young age. Often times moving to a different location to be closer to a world level coach, and to be around a peer group of similar minded individuals. I believe that many times, these kids are in effect sent to almost a boarding school type atmosphere where the principal focus is on the sport, school work and social life (if any) is stuffed into the b…

Was thinking about the growth of trials a bit, and was thinking about the arguments about why trials does not grow, and the comparison between MX and Trials, and the recent explosion of the X type or freestyle type riding. Commonly it is said that Trials does not have the thrill of MX with the close finishes and the race to the wire which makes it more of a spectator friendly sport. We do not have that, and will not really. But what if instead of looking at MX, we look at Hare Scrambles or Enduro. At least in my area, they are immensley popular and well attended. They do not have the "finish" nor are they very spectator friendly, matter of fact, they are really more …
