Would any restorers give me a little guidance on a quote I have received for some chroming works from a company based in the UK. I wanted a set of swm mudguard stays and kickstart shaft chromed and have received a quote of stg 345 plus vat.. Owing to the fact I had some fork legs chromed last year for around 175 I thought this a tad excessive... or does this seem the going rate.. Thanks

Greetings, I altered a Suzuki 185 trail bike for trials service and it's coming along pretty well. The motor is stock and I made a pipe to get it going and now want to make improvements with pipe and port timing. Most of what I need can be found in factory data or engine measurements except engine RPM range typical in amateur trials. I would guess 800~6000 with peak around 4K? Does anyone know better? Thanks!

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Madrid we have the classic bike show. A good friend has been preparing a Spanish Pre-65 bike for the last year as a Top Secret. Nobody new what he was working on. Today I took 2 of my Bultacos to the show for sale, and there was my friend preparing his bike in a stand covered with a canvas. I beg him hundred times to show me the bike before tomorrow, and at last he said yes. What I saw there was the most beautifull trials bike I have ever seen, thousands of hours of work and so much love to trials into it. And he says it works perfectly

Help needed to identify Villiers engined frame ,thought it might be Cheetah but after asking some Cheetah owners we don't think it is . Main frame looks similar but swinging arm and wheel adjuster are completely different , Any help would greatly appreciated in trying to identify what it is

  7. I am starting to plan our round of the Sammy Miller Classic Bike Championship and wondered if any riders had a view on how far the trial should ideally travel on the road. We can visit groups of sections used in the National Colmore Cup or even sections used in the 75 mile OK Supreme LDT, or anything in between. What distance is likely to attract the most classic entrants? Pete

Right then, now the Fantic is nearly re-built I want to start making some plans for a trip (or two!) away in 2012! I've always fancied doing a trial abroad but it seems unless you know where to look they're not so well advertised. So... is there a definitive list of trials (ideally multi-day) for twinshocks in Europe (or the UK come to that) that shouldn't be missed?! If anyone has dates or links to the club sites it would be much appreciated! Thanks very much!

A couple of minutes about her at 19 minutes in http://www.bbc.co.uk..._Fun_and_Games/ I remember her riding Bultacos in the Scottish in the 60s. If I recall correctly she had a shop, the eponymous Sportman's Emporium, selling trials bikes.

Hi all, not been on a bike for 15 years ish and very new to trials. I was looking at a more modern bike like 2005 or newer but i have just come accross a bargain restoration project locally and the guy just wants shut. Im in need of help please as i know very lkittle about bikes and a list of what to look for initially would be massively appreciated or if you could point me in the right direction to a thread or something. the bike needs a few bits which im aware of and ill list these with a few picks. Im up for a nice total rebuild over the summer and i can grab this for less than 200 notes as is! the guy is moving on and it has to go so rather than him spendf more time a…

Hello, the attached picture is of an Enfield Starmaker i am trying to identify the forks. I need some for the Johnny Britain works 1964 ISDT bike that Hitchcocks motorcycles have acquired. As far as we know they were made by Reynolds, most likely built by Ken Sprayson for the ISDT bike. He made some similar ones for Geoff Dukes Norton so few questions any idea where I can get a set ? we’re they used on any other trials/scrambles bikes ? any idea who could make a pair ? thanks Richard

  16. Today the new rules for 2013 have been published in the RFME web page. A small "revolution". Handicaps, and more strict ruels for the classic trials, although modified bikes are admitted, they will have the highest handicap of 1,3. New rules as the sliders must have the original stands for the mudguards, modern stands will take the bike to a handicap of 1,3; and much much more. Have a look here: https://fedemoto.info/ImgFCK/file/2013/TRIAL%20CLASICAS/Reglamento/Reglamento%20RFMETRClasicas2013(1).pdf

I am familiar with the AMAL concentric Mk1 carb but is the Mk1.5 the same as a Mk1 with the addition of a choke. The Mk2 looks different externally but what are the changes from the Mk1 & Mk1.5. Is the jetting & slide common to all three types ?

  18. My father, Tom Ollerton, who was a very keen rider in the 1950s and 60s has passed away at the age of 91. Dad was a very active member of Darwen Motorcycle Club in Lancashire, and competed in the Scottish Six Days Trial many times. He worked for many years at Anelays Motorcycles in Blackburn, who were the original concessionaires for Bultaco in the UK. In 1962 Dad became the first man to ride a Bultaco in the Scottish (his was the only Bultaco entered that year). He rode it again in 1963 where, once again it was the only Bultaco entered. In 1964 he was joined by Oriol Bulto, who was most impressed by the modifications that Dad had done to his machine to convert it to a t…

Anyone have a suggestion for buying all the bits and pieces for making your own, very high quality, controll cables? I have a need to create my own cables for some custom bike projects but everyone I contact wants me to send them my old cables and they will build a new one from it. I have no old cables to send. In fact no cable exists for these bikes. Thats why I just want parts. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Aaron

Hi there,l was wondering if anyone could help me with the optimum port timing in degrees for the Villiers 32a motor for trials, both opening and closing of ports.I am looking also at exhaust header length, is there a formula that may apply? I notice quite long headers in various vids. Thanks.
