Classic Trials

Hi Guys I am building c15 trials bike ( non competition ) . I have c15 distributor type engine still missing few bits ( kickstart other small bits ). most of friend says your c15 big end will gone soon. from last few days ,, i am thinking of getting Bsa b25 or enfield 350 engine , what you guys think is it doable ? or should i focus on fixing the c15 engine i have , trials bike surgeons/implants specialists , please advise. Is it just me or is anyone else seeing the beginning of the end for the larger pre units? Most the 'classic' trials these days are all geared towards the twin shocks, Bantams, and C15's. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not against the bikes or the riders, but will the heavier weight machines (and rider for that matter) have a place in classic trials in say 4/5 years time? I did a trial today (... up front I'm not the best rider in the world, far from it) and in my class there were about 4 entries (easy route, pre unit) out of a field of around 70. So, did I enter the wrong trial or do I need to change my machine? I think it's sad that there are only a few trials left…

90 riders were entered in the programme for this years Arbuthnot, a great day out in the sunshine. Considering the rain beforehand it wasn't too slippery in the sections,but the tracks in between were a real challenge at times and would have made great sections in their own right.I did feel for those hardy types riding the Colonial route on road tyres ! It really is a great day out,more an adventure than a trial at times,you see some amazing bikes and ride through some very beautiful countryside. Legs and shoulders were more than stiff this morning, over 80 miles,mostly off road on a rigid take their toll. Anyone got any links to photo's, there were plenty of people tak…

This is a question to any Spanish forum members.. last weekend a English friend of mine, resident in France went to ride a Classic Spanish trial. On arrival and presentation of his French licence was told this was no longer acceptable and the only option was to purchase a day licence at quite a cost. My question, has there been a recent change whereby Non Spanish licences are now not acceptable, when riding in Spain. I try to get down to three or four a year and would like to know before making further arrangements. It would be a real shame if this was the case, but I fully understand if its and insurance issue. Hi guys and galls, I've just been reading an old post about the classic Jack Wood 'River Kwai' section and all the stories that went with it and it got me thinking back about other classic sections from days gone bye, like 'Tremorithic' in the 'Wye Valley Traders' it was a cracking section in a fantasic trial (one of the best IMHO). If you didnt get up the step you had to be hauled up by two or three blokes using a rope and grappling hook, it made 'Witches Burn' look like a main road. It was 3rd gear from a standing start and slippery as hell, if you did manage to get up the step I think there were 3 more sections waiting for you straight after. Happy days

Can anyone ID this (Villiers) cylinder that came in the box of bits with my Cheetah. There are a few pictures of the same cylinder on this link. There's a 5/16" thick phenolic spacer below the cylinder and it has a chrome bore. Regards David

Hi there I am currently trying to get my Montesa Cota 349 on the road and I am looking for the frame number to find out how old it is. I have been intouch with sandiford and they have said it should be on the headstock but I cannot find it. I gave them the engine number and they say it is a MH349 but the tank says cota 349, prehaps the engine was changed? Any help much appriciated. Cheers, Nick

You may have seen at the Malvern show a really fantastic Mick Andrews replica James frame on Alan Whitton's stand. I have been thinking of building a really trick James, possibly inspired by the one in the Classic Dirt Bike mag and thought that this frame would be the right place to start. Having spoken to Alan it appears that ther are currently only 2 of these in existance at the moment, Mick's own one and the one that Alan is building for himself. They are made from 17guage T45 and there have been a few mods including slight adjustments for the steering geometry as required my Mick. Restoring a 199B bultaco for twin shock competition and curious if converting to the type of rim that uses the external type spoke as opposed to the through the rim type spoke would be an advantage?

Hi folks,I've just bought my self a '72 250 Ossa Mar.I had one in the late '70's,purchased from one of the staff at Windsor Comp Shop.It was fitted with a reed valve when i got it,and it rode better than my mates 310.I would like to fit one to my bike,any ideas where i could get one?

I have a 16M engine and I am confused by what Alfin barrel will fit , what is the flanged type? Were that that many different Alfin barrels? Does anybody know how many were made?

Hello all - I'm a veteran sportsbike rider - Ducatis and Suzukis - but I started decades ago on a Yamaha enduro. I was just offered a 1970 Bultaco Sherpa T 350 that has sat in a barn for the past 40 years. It does not run, but the piston is not seized and turns over in the cylinder head. Are there adequate supplies of parts to restore this gem in the rough, or am I self-inflicting major brain damage if I do this project bike? Thanks!

Just bought a Bsa b40 with the gb engine Can anyone help with the correct gearing Also not sure if the main jet is right carb is a Amal 626 running a 160 main Recomended sparkplug? I am sure there will bemore Marty D

Hello, I have a Wassell trials bike with a Sachs 1251/5A in it. I have heard of and would like to put a BSA motor in it. I'm a two stroke guy and don't know anything about BSA single 4 strokes. What type / model / size should I be looking for? This bike will be 100% Trials. Any help and advice will be appreciated. If anyone has a different or better idea on a 4 stroke motor for this frame, please chime in. Thanks
