But really appreciate your advice... Hows that move in which i hop up the ledge called? splat? and what if i touch the ledge with my front wheel a bit to aid going up?

I rode to the edge of my property to do some trial riding to break up the monotony of practicing in my back yard and came across a couple of logs at a steep angle to the trail. There isn't enough room on the trail to hit them perpendicular. How do you cross them without kicking the rear end out from under you or stepping down to pivot turn over them?

Was at a trial today and one section very slippery long hill climb pretty steep 3 out of4 times I never got grip at all and failed the climb Early just spinning and once I got decent traction but had to much power on or weight to far back and flipped my bike but felt I had enough momentum up until this point to make it any pointers in what I could try

Hi guys I would like to know how often you boyz train according to the weather? The sun shines here most of the time but its been raining for the last 2 days so I figured ill use the wearher to vary my training and learn a bit more about finding traction. Ill be up at 4am to load up and take advantage of this rubbish weather as the rain seems to stop by late morning. So, if any, how often or important do you think training in cr@ppy weather is necessary?

Something has been nagging at me and I wanted to get input from you guys. So when we're on trail rides, we always try to look as far ahead as possible. This also counts for techniques like pivot turns, floater turns, etc.. The question is, if you have multiple obstacles in quick succession, especially requiring intermediate techniques like the double blip so you can't simply roll over everything, when do you switch your focus from the first obstacle to the second? For instance, let's say you got a double ledge with the first being undercut and requiring a japzap. To get a solid front wheel punch, you need to look at the ideal point of impact righ…

I'm curious about what the top riders do as far as diet is concerned when training for competition. Do they follow a very regimented program all week long, 365 days a year, do they only eat certain foods a couple of days before a meet, and then eat whatever they want in the days that follow? Personally I find that my stamina is one of the biggest factors that cost me points as I go through a competition, because I loose form and can't execute techniques all through the day that I could do the first two laps, etc.. So I'm interested in learning some things I can try to maybe improve from a diet perspective of training. Please be as specific as you can if you don't mind…

I posted this question before and it bugs me! I have rode mototrials all my life on the balls of my feet. Started riding bike trials a few years ago and the top riders around me said ride on the arch of your feet, on pedal bike that is. With todays techniques as a weekend warrior it seems like riding on the arches makes since. When riding this way I seem to keep my heels down more and my elbows tend to stay up. I tend to ride more sqaure, if that makes since. One huge weakness I have is not using my legs more, but moving to my arches makes me feel like I'm taking a huge amount of weight off my arms. Feels like I can hop better also, off camber stuff feels extremely akwar…

I've the basic full lock turn technique on hard grippy surface down, but on a slippery surface like hard pack dirt covered with loose dirt I keep getting into trouble with the front wheel pushing, sliding on the dirt, enlarging the turn. So I am wondering what's the best technique: keep the bike as straight as possible and lean it in the turn as far as possible? Or anywhere in between. Weight inside / outside peg? Inside / outside bar end? Weight or un-weight the front wheel? Anything else? Thanks. DC

This new forum is a great idea. Thanks! If any of the mods have the time and inclination it would be really handy if they could trawl through the forums and move some of the existing relevant threads here to get things going. It may even be possible to add new moderators whose only extra power is to move threads (handy when you add a new forum, and also for general housekeeping!). Just a thought!

Good evening fellow riders, I am getting arthritic type pain in my index fingers and knuckles after riding. I am also getting pointy bits on the side of my index knuckle joints from the obvious repetitive use of the clutch and brake. Has anyone else experienced this, and have any wonder cures or suggestions, I have tried riding with two fingers on the levers, but find that quite awkward. Cheers in advance.

Is it just me (rubbish older novice) or is grip reduced by cold weather on a trials bike? I was out yesterday and on admittedly, very soft ground I could barely move forwards, never mind anything resembling a tight turn without the front washing out, even on level ground. 4 psi front and 3.5 psi rear. Michelins.. The bike is a 2016 250 Beta Evo 2T so I can't blame the bike at all. I'm finding it very frustrating, any confidence I had is literally slipping away. Also, long steep slippery descents, what gear do you guys use? I'm using first going down, clutch engaged and as much front and rear brake as I feel comfortable with... Feel like I'm banging my head…

Riding is hard on my arms. My forearms get pretty sore and can stay that way, mostly the extensors. Are there any techniques or tips to help a person ride with less arm and more leg? Just trying to use less arm does not seem that effective. I do exercise and stretch my forearms so believe this is a technique issue more than a fitness issue. Age does not help.

Hi all, I have just bought a Rev 3 to do some trials on, but my trials skills are woefull. I think maybe a few hours of training in the basic techniques will go a long way....anyone know of anything in the Norfolk/Suffolk area, if not, I can travel so any recommendations? I did a trials event 3/4 years ago on my Montesa 315R down in Sidcup before I moved to Norfolk....I think i came 3rd from last....I'm guessing the other 2 guys DNF'd But even that trials taster brought my enduro skills to new heights, bare in mind I have low standards that I fail to live up to! I rode enduro's/hnh's for a few years on a sportsman scale, but I want to get into trials in bigger way now …
