Road Legal, MOT, Insurance etc

I have a bike that in 99.9% sure i registered, the chap i got the bike from told me that he never recived the V5 and never chased it as he only used the bike off road, the bike has also done the scottish so there is a good chance a V5 for the bike is floating round in someones draw. As i dont know the reg number can i still apply with a V62? or is there another way to find out, i cant get dvla on the phone the are ALWAYS too busy

Hi guys, I rang Carol Nash today to insure my non road registered Beta Evo 200 2013, the girl asked if it was in a garage or shed i said it was in a 17 x 9 foot breeze block shed, she asked if i could get a car in to which i replied no as it only has a pedestrian sized door which is of steel construction, she said the underwriter would not accept the building as it was not classed as a garage.........Help!

Hi Everyone, Just got off the phone from Carole Nash and they're saying that they won't insure any trials bike worth over 5 Grand, and the bikes got to be road registered to put it under a motorbike policy. Anyone use any other off road Insurance companies.. Thanks in advance

So, I have a classic bike, new to me I have HPI'd the chassis number and nothing comes back, so it's not registered I have a dating letter from the UK importer, stating date of manufacturer (but bike is not for road use??? on it) I need to get it MOT'd on the chassis number Which other DVLA forms do I need and what do I do to obtain a NOVA form form HMRC, to satisfy DVLA Can someone lead me through it, in simple steps..........A to Z?

I am considering buying a Suzuki RL250 which has a Whitehawk frame. The bike is not registered. There are no numbers on the frame and I must be able to road register this bike in order to use it on road trials. There must be quite a few Whitehawk framed bikes out there and some must be registered. Can anyone give me a steer on what I need to do.

Has anybody done this? At the moment everything I have is insured on its frame numbers anyway but it would be nice to have a proper registration number even if it is a Q. I have had a look at DVLA information sheet INF85 and it says "You should send documentation showing the Vehicle Identifcation Number (VIN), engine number and proof of ownership with your application" I could probably in most cases find the original hand written receipts if they haven't fallen apart, but does anybody know exactly what they want? And what I can send if I can't find a receipt? It would be easy enough to take a photo of engine and frame numbers to send along with the application. …

Hi, Can anyone tell me what I need to be able to (briefly) ride my new Montesa 4RT on the road. It is in the process of being road registered (7 weeks and still no sign of a V5!!!) When I last done this a long ago you needed a fork leg speedo, rear reflector and bulb horn. There will be occasions where it would be convenient to be able to ride it rather than push it.

part way through road registering my gas gas 280 txt progress: MOT Dating letter Insured on VIN number V55/5 filled in and sent off Came back saying i needed to apply for a NOVA to sort VAT out. did this online ands its telling me i now owe £130 import tax on it. Been looking to insure my new Gas Gas (not yet picked up) for fire & theft from home as it will be worth £5k+. I tried Carole Nash off road insurance and they won't insure anything over £5k at all. I can't find anyone else. MSM only cover road registered bikes but I don't need to register it on the road and doing that will also make it more expensive as I'll have to tax it as well as register and insure it. Anyone else do off road theft insurance?

Hi I'd like to get my enfield crusader road legal , but ive only got the old log book style reg document and ive never changed to the modern doc as i believe the log book would have to be sent in and would be lost is this correct ? could anyone here clarify the procedure ? thanks greg

I have fantic motor 268 80cc junior trials bike from about 1986. It is mono shock with drum breaks which were only made for a short time, not sure when though. I am looking to make it road legal but i am not sure whether i need to do any importation paperwork, as far as i am aware it has been in the uk since new and it has no paperwork and has not previously been registered. does anyone know if i would need to go through the import process before i register it? Ok, so I know that in the UK you officially need a horn and a motorbike-sized number plate for daytime running on the road, and in France you're ok with an LED front and tail light (brake light too?), and a mini number plate (not sure about horn) ... what about in Spain? What's the minimum equipment for a trials bike to be 100% legal?
