We had a few lads down here in the westcountry doing simmilar jobs on mono yams, but they where told to ride aircooled mono anyway
Is it legal anywhere ???
Still think it is lovelly mind.

I can smell the castrol R

My 06 was well riden in 07 and begining of 08 , Agree with OZ ,no probs
I do clutch oil 6 to 8 trials .engine oil every10 with filter every 20
I use putoline oil (have since new) Quater the price of the elf stuff ..
Do change your plug every 6 months or so ,seems to start effortlessly when new.
After market air filters with built in fire screen work best in mine and i use no toil water wash filter oil ..
-
Oh no i just bought a honda RS 250 off F bay for
-
Lee think i have sussed it
the forks where sticking mid travel then popping back up,
I have stripped and cleaned them, new fluid and lostened the mudguard supports and axle camps bounced them and re tightened ,sorted the sticking, will have to see if its stopped the front going awol
After the set up details you have posted i think i will leave them 1/2" through the clamps and try them.
Cheers Dixie
-
Its that horrid sort of under steer feeling when you think you have the corner dialed look for you line and your bar tucks under and i cant quite catch it
Almost like the break catches for a sec, i have checked wheel bearings and break
-
Still have a bit of a problem with the front end washing out
I have just dropped the forks through the stanchions by half inch. Will this be enough ,everythink else is standard exept bar clamps moved forward an inch
Do i really need to alter the head angle..
-
I can tell you for a fact it wasn't coolant cos it hasn't got any,
Bloody power washers they normally cause all the problems..
-
The standard skid plate was plastic so the 2 mm will prob do the job ,
Only a silly suggestion but have you thought of putting the trottle on the left hand bar and the clutch on the right. now that would be fum swopping bikes.
-
would not touch them on the track
BUT on a real road you can give them a good run for there money,,mine is tuned with Ti pipes but will top out at about 130 ,not fast enough for the straight line boys .but tourque wise it wins hands down
-
The yorkie bike was the one that sparked my intrest ,I was checking out his twins (triumphs)
And the velo caught my eye.
checked out old bike mart and there seem to be enough spares around. Anyone run one on the road ,My old classic british trials bike book says the motor was a reliable lump and the thinest in the buisness,
God i wish i was ritch..
-
Anyone run a vello trialer ??
Havn't seen one down here (westcountry)
Just wondered how they went in trials trim
-
Quick action throtle may not be such a good idea ,but it depends what you are going to do with the bike ,its up to you after all ,but for fine control at low speed the slow throttle is more precise.
But as i said its your bike do what you want.
Looks like you pay a lot less for fantics than we do .
-
Are the fantics still reasonably priced in the US.
Here in the uk they are just starting to fetch silly money,But you picked the right bike to go twinshocking.
Good luck old chap,tally ho!
-
Wanariot,
Just two little points
Firstly as i said a couple of months ago you can do time trials on your trials ACU registration card.(really good fun and only two hours long )
Secondly WHERE IS LANCASHIRE. its in yorkshire isnt it,
-
Thanks chaps ,Looks like i might try the tiger 90/100 route..
There are a few around at a reason cost.
-
Looked at some of the bikes, my god i think i may need another mortgage..
It would be nice to have a 1965 trophy then it would be the same age as me, Then i would remember how old my bike was...
-
wheel spindles . TAKE THEM OUT ,
Only takes a few mins but its hard to carry a bike , Having said that if someone wants it bad enough, Alarm mines are also good , they take a black powder 12 bore blank and you conect a short wire to your bike , if someone moves it whammo ,deaf and dumb.
-
Thinking of trying a triumph twin trialer,What motor should i start with????
Everone i have spoken to with a 350 says the 500 is too powerfull and the boys with 500 say 350's wont grip???
I know it is a matter of taste but whats your opinion??
-
I think we may have had this topic ages ago ,But here goes
My best/worst trials injury was on a beta about 99 when fat pegs started appearing, I dropped off a bank hooked up the bars and pitched off the side of the bike,I sort of surfed down the bank on the side of the bike , then the bike stopped 33" off the ground and my legs are 32" long the left hand foot peg ripped my jeans and but cheek ,blood was pouring out so i asked my mate to have a look(poor sod), he fell about laughing, and said there where 3 big scrapes all stopping at my ring peice ,Couldn't sit down for a week

Hi gunn
Years ago i was told by some of the best guys of the time some advice that I still follow today.
Let your rear tyer down more than you think (max 4 psi)
And stay in first gear, things happen a bit slower in first, try not to use the clutch or front break to much.
But most of all ride and ride and ride.
-
Got my monty out the shed today after a 9 month lay up (forced through injury),just a once over and a bit of wd40
Two kicks and it was going like a sewing machine, you cant fault mr Honda.. magic
-
Has toni bou won more times than adam raga???
I think the self proclamed King of trials has been short lived ..
What are the facts?????
-
Might not have been a bad idea having a jacket like that last year when a blind car driver pulled out in front of my aprillia.
Even after i just missed the front of his car he rammed me onto a sign post. That hurt a bit. If I had been on my old fat boy i would have spun him out the way.
Your mother could probably ride better than most R1 riders or should i say pointers anyway.Sorry R1 guys its blades and gsxr's aswel,Not many about at the moment but wait till the sun comes out..
-
Do you use a pressure washer when cleaning up?
when you next get the bike hot take the oil filler plug out any miosture should have evapourated by then , and check you breather pipe from the gear box . put it all back with fresh oil.
Dont spray the gearbox sprocket or engine for a couple of rides and see what happens ..
Is the coolant level falling ????
