  1. Keep you eyes out for the XR 1200 single make series this year it should be good racing. A couple of big names have signed up allready. I bought a road going one just befor christmass and if its anything to go on the racers will be fantastic. There is something verry satisfiying about going up the inside of an R1 on a roundabout on a big twin, sat bolt up right pretending your not trying, depending how long the next straight is most of the time they come back past so you can do it again at the next twisty bit,Deep joy.
  2. Depends how you ride ??? The biggest improvement i made was fitting a twin map ignition ecu. The bike was transformed, I had it set with the softest and most powefull settings (mild n wild), but only ever use it in old codgger mode.

    Irc Rear Tyre

I find a tubed tyre grips ok and does not give problems on a twinshock, and you can fix a flat in the car park. If you ride really hard or do the expert rout you may need a tubless but for ordinary twinshock its not worth the extra cost. If you really need a tubless tyre fit a new rim then your sorted
  4. Got my acu handbook yesterday and thought there would be a disscussion on here somewhere. The real answer (my own humble opinion) is the course plotters, its up to them not to make the sections any tighter, I think that had a major impact on trials last time it happened . "que the music" When i was a lad i used to do wessex centre events with road work on a fantic 200 (about 80/82) and there would be 60 to 80 riders regularly competing. When the first of the hotties started messing about instead of riding , the sections became harder for the four or five guys that could ride them, and impossible for everone else, and within a couple of years the entrys went down to about 15/20. So please section plotters think of the ordinary guy ,nowadays with the multi route trials it may not be as big a problem , The a route guys can have it as hard as they like..
  5. I have been looking for some twinshock dvd's (preff origional footage from late 70's early 80's ) Cant find any ,got six from the scotish pre 65 stuff and it has a few clips of magical mick and a few other legends, If anyone knows where i can get some let me know. Thanks
  6. Hey bo, Not only have you tried to steal the great honor of living in the real CIDER COUNTY, SOMERSET. But that looks like my dogs blanket in the background, You hereford boys we should have left you to the welsh. Really nice bike though..
  7. Scorpa 3. how fast do you go on your trials bike?? when i am on the road i use them, but at low speed i dont think it makes a lot of odds One of our local hotties lost a finger a couple of years ago and he had gloves on, Also at a southwest championships a few years back a bloke smashed his thumb and guess what gloves on.. You like them ,some dont, no rights no wrongs , just personal preference.

    Sparkplugs

I seem to remember in the old days we had different plugs for winter and summer use. What plugs are you using and do you leave them in all year round?? I have a 240 by the way.
  9. We have one on my wifes vitara its been on for about 15 years (my god how time flies) and i had one of the high tensile bolts shear off going into the car park at a trial so now i always carry a spare set and check them now and then But to be fair they where about ten years old at the time and i had been hauling a husaberg then a ktm ,aswel as my trials bikes around.
  10. SEE dont even wear gloves in me new picture.... Here on the left..
  11. Never wear them. try putting honey on an old tea bag (hot) and holding it on the thorn it will bring the puss out,My nans old trick but she did wear gloves on her harley but not her trialer. I never seem in control when i have gloves on and they slip arond in the wet, When it is hot and sweatty i just grab a bit of dirt or dust and hey presto insant grip.(another of nans tricks)
  12. How long have you been riding it ?. Did you strip it because something broke? If the answer is it was running fine and you cant see any broken bits in the cases, and it is a buget bike put it back together and dont woory till it does break. That is probably what the last guy did, hence no bits in the cases.
  13. Hi M/M the way prices are at the moment if you plan on keeping the 315 its almost as well to buy a cheap whole bike, That way you have spare wheels (no puncture worries) and one of everything. I have seen good 315's go for as little as

    Honda Tlr

I cant understand some remarks about the bike, like it look old fationed, its a twinshock it is old fationed. A lot of people seem to want to make there 25/30 year old bike as competitive as possible, WHY if you cant take loosing on a modern bike GIVE UP ,dont come and spoil twinshock. Who cares who spends what on what its the love of bikes that should make you go riding, and at the moment twinshocking is still a good day out who cares who wins or how much there bike cost. The real danger is lots of people need to win and see it as an easy way to a few more trophies that spoils it for everone else, I had a serious road bike accident last year and nearly lost my right foot, I cant start my 4rt yet or take to much punishment, but riding my old fantic has really helped and made me remember how much fun trialing actually is.
  15. I love bikes the louder the better No negatives from me i was re living the bristol dirt bike show days , Propper show ,who needs sponsor logos, girls with hand outs ,corporate hospitality ,and a two pound fiffty cup of coffe????? Well maybe the girls????
  16. It might be aswell to build it back as an xr all hondas seem to be popular and gaining in value then get something a bit softer to convert. but in the end you can turn anything into anything for a price, how well it works is another thing.

OH NO ! more money i need to spend but havent got There was a picture of this in old bike mart it looks fantastic, will have to see how they go
  18. I hate you big john lovelly bikes and hair will fate ever smile on me???????????
  19. Down here in the westcountry we have some really good two hour timetrials set out with the enduro boys in mind, they are the ideal introduction and you can use your trials reg A good freind of mine used a 315 monty in a couple of enduros, he fitted knobblies and raised the front guard then cable tied a spare inner tube on the rear guard as a seat, it looked like a old greeves challanger. by the way he won the clubman class every event he entered
  20. Another point worth mentioning a factory bike in the good old days was just that,it was probably about six or seven years old when it was retired, and all through its life it was cotinually improved. a modern factory bike is only a couple of months old ,then most of the special parts are on the next production model the budgets on modern works bikes are more than the entire running costs of our entire bike industry. but if you want something and can aford it then it does't matter what anyone else thinks go for it, if we bought bikes to make money we would be verry poor indeed

    Clutch Arm

I am just in the process of modding my 240 fantic ,there seems to be lots of different opinions on clutch arm length who has lengthend the arm and how long ???? for the moment i have gone back an inch and down 1/2 inch with the foot pegs is this enough ? i have left them higher than most because i liked the way they didnot catch the ruts and rocks in sections, will i end up dropping them?? thanks in advance
