  1. Use the clutch, its not a race so you don't need the power on all the time.
  2. I use Silkolene / Putoline Light Gear Oil (75w) they all seem to work the same. If you buy Putoline in 4L cans you can get it for £38 posted! It doesn't matter what you use the plates always seem to stick when its cold!

is the wiring ok, it looks a bit rough around the headstock?
  4. there are a couple of ways, In a four jaw chuck and a fixed steady (and a bush to fitted to run the steady) or the slider mounted on on the cross slide (vee blocks and lots of packing), and boring bar in the chuck both methods take a lot of clocking up!
  5. I've done similar on a few sliders, but I used a boring bar in a lathe.
  6. The biggest problem is you can’t order spares from 1965, so people need remanufactured parts to keep them running!
  7. The only good thing about this winter is I can finish restoring my Norton, I won’t be doing a lot else!
  8. They do loosen up after a while
  9. The bore is 72.5mm + or - whatever the tolerance is for the plating, (that's why they have size graded pistons) the clearance depends on the piston material, if its hypereutectic then 0.023 would be fine Measuring it with a caliper you cannot get the accuracy required, therefore if the seller says they are paired, then its probably correct. Build it and ride it
  10. Will will never measure it correctly with a Caliper You need a bore gauge and micrometer to get the correct measurement (a mic that measures 0.001mm) Good quality feeler gauges would probably give a better clearance measurement, if you cannot use the above 250cc bores normally need between 0.04 to 0.05mm clearance
  11. Can you do a video of it running?
  12. as long as Scorpa have used the correct plastic it should be ok most modern cars have plastic fuel tanks, without any problems.
  13. Unless you have a professional spray shop leave 2K well alone. If you don’t have the right safety equipment, it will ruin your health permanently!
  14. Looks like to chrome has seen better days on the top fork?
  15. I went to the doctors today, I keep hearing strange voices coming from my underpants. The doctor said just ignore them, they’re talking bollocks!?!?!
  16. I think the biggest difference would be availability of spares
  17. The best ones, are the ones I get for free failing that, Michelin's and new type Dunlop's work well
  18. Same here, I run my air cooled bikes at 40:1 without any problems or smoke. I Also used Castrol without any issues at 40:1 Could be a damaged seal, or wrong way round?
  19. I've used a DC rack on various cars and vans in the past without any problems I use a trailer now, because I now have a small car. The rack was a lot more convenient to use
  20. The rims are in reasonable condition, inside and out. the drop arms and stubs axles are also ok, do I need to check anything else on the suspension units? I would change the suspension, but they have been welded directly to the chassis! I have one brand new 4x4PCD 25mm hub assembly which someone gave me, but I cannot find anyone else who sells them. A few companies have tried to sell me the 1" hubs!?!?!
  21. My trailer needs some new tyres, but I don’t know if I need tubed or tubeless. currently I have one of each! Is there any difference in the rims? I would normally just buy some new rims and tyres but they are odd ones with the bearings in the wheel!
