Must admit I'm no fan of technology just for the sake of it but carbs have had a good run. Remember trials bikes run that lean you cannot use them on the road in a regular manner. Even your beloved ty monos need choke on the road so this is nothing new. A modern stroker would last about 10 mins on the road with a heavy hand. Time for a change.

Bit anti American sentiment here lads,just remember how good we are at MX compared with them. Trials rules are universally odd,just try explaining them to someone new. Trouble is most riders have been around since Sammy Miller had a paper round and accept rules as set in stone. Whole system could do with being simplified.

Nicely put ,only for a short time until they expire which is about 3 miles if you don't nurse them like a day old baby. Interesting about the insurance though.

These old Scorpas aren't bad news if they're tidy. Mechanically seem to run forever but can be noisy. Carbs fiddly to get at,don't know about spares? Ride ok,as good as anything else that age. Getting on mind,old for a trials bike.

Mines not as precise as say a Sherco with a very exact biting point,maybe a slight spongy feeling. Never slips, but needs to be well in to the bar to totally clear so the biting point is further away than I would like. Never bled an Ossa clutch but every one I've done involves taking the lever off and small metal rod/ spring.that pushes the piston. Then make sure the piston in the master cyl comes right back and use a thin allen key or similar to work the piston so you get a full stroke. Trying to bleed with the lever on never really works well and takes ages. But maybe you already know this.! Cheers.

Certainly would be expecting a 15 model now. 15s have been around for a month or so over here and I assume the main bearing issue has been addressed. Trials bike makers are notoriously precarious,this 14 Ossa I've got I just fancied at the time,it was an ex Six days bike and so far been fine. If we all bought trials bikes with our heads we would all be running 4rt's How boring would that be?

Good stuff,the true spirit of Trials riding shines through. Some riders would get thrown out of an undertakers waiting room for depressing everyone. Anyway by our standard you're pro's,didn't know Gas Gas's could bounce that good. Thanks for sharing. BTW was a bit of that shot at the academy?

A friend of mine has a 14 Evo 250. Has jumped out of first ,but only on about 6 occasions over the year. He's pretty convinced he pushes the gear home and not imagining it. Dealers had a good look at it and can't really do much which is hardly surprising. Any advice welcome.

Hey Dadoff,I know some of your arguments are well contested but to claim Richmond is Northern UK is stretching things though I would accept it is the centre of the Trials world. However,others from further afield seem to claim they were always stop allowed? Surely this isn't the case.

Some folk would buy a 500 if they made one. Have to say no. However just bought a tuned 300 Ossa that will pull away in 5th without slipping the clutch blows my credibility.

Don't want to depress you further but the local dealer had 3 on demo at out trial yesterday. First seen a new one about a month ago. Look on the bright side I bet it didn't snow yesterday.

One of our committee's got one,is a lot easier to kick over than my 300. Never seen him having any bother.

This really makes me appreciate the ground we've got up here. I regularly get members moaning about various venues, they don't believe me when I tell them some riders never see a rock or a decent climb. Thanks for sharing.

You don't sound too serious,try a wee Scorpa 125/143/163 4 stroke. Very civilised with a slight trail bike feel,cheap to run,hold there price. only problem might be getting hold of one.

That was a read. Said it before some of the riders out there would break an anvil ! Until someone in the UK starts producing a decent trials bike we're on very shaky ground knocking any make of bike. Got to be realistic ,modern bikes wont stand repeated heavy use (abuse),that's the way it is. They're not meant to last forever,they're competition bikes. Personally i find the bikes a lot more reliable than the riders.

Good man,spread the word. Our local Sherco dealers out in Thailand over the Winter don't know where. I think he'll be moving out there one day, Maybe get a club going? Ditch that FF helmet unless you're really ugly! Must be others that ride trials out there? It's much more fun riding with mates. Keep up the good work.

Got a 2014 300 but only done 3 trials so far. Can't really fault the bike though it takes one devil of a kick to fire up. There's a few about up here and I think the problems of the earlier ones have been well documented. I have been assured by my local dealer the 14 ones the bike. He had a rider last year did a full season including the 6 days with no issues,the lad replaced it with a 15 one. Like the fact the rad doesn't get full of mud and the grip it gets is unreal. Great air filter set up and no Carb to worry about. Also i like to be a bit different,

Hi Richard welcome,nearest I know is Glenlomond near Kinross which isn't on your doorstep.. Most weekends our members have at least a play or an organised trial be it ourselves,Dunfermline MCC or Lothian Trials club. If you can get on the East Scotland Trials forum it's good for local stuff. Out next beginners/clubman trials the 7th December (Combined with Mickey Oates Montesa test day) Wee bit of a trail as we're in NE Fife. No pack drill though just turn up and ride. Don't think folk were any more tolerant in 1993,you were younger and probably cared less what they said. On a serious note there's been a couple of bike thefts in your area lately so take care. Happy wobbling.

Nice too see we're keeping it light. And Dadoff if I want a lecture I don't need to go on here ,I've been married 24 years, Done trials since the mid 70s,at varying levels,had most makes of bikes over the years. Help run the local club even get called trials convener, Was in the motor trade until the 90s,call my self a gardener now,but really just a glorified odd job man. Also work for a well known children's organisation. And have two Border collies. that look and act even crazier than the one in my avatar. Have a nice day!

Hi Shamie,good on you, we have a load of ex roadies at our we club,even ex North West and TT winners. Most wish they had done a bit back in the day as they find trials like learning to ride a bike again. Done a few trials over your way back in the day,even got down south to Wicklow once. Was a great scene,sure it still is. Cheers the noo..
