It appears that Dibs and Beta have decided it's not worth going to compete in Japan. Strange scenario??? I appreciate the cost implications etc but surely as No1 factory rider they (Beta) want him to represent them in a good sized market for them..

No discredit to Iris Kramer, she did what she needed to do, but is there anyone who actually does not think that Laia Sanz is the best woman rider. To drop from 3 rounds to 2 and then have the title decided on 'last goals the winner' doesn't seem the fair. Also not forgetting the sections are below the severity of sections Laia is used to.

Why don't the FIM sort world rounds out once and for all: A) No minders! The riders have to work on their own bikes! The minder argument may go down the line of 'well its a safety thing re: catching etc.' but I'm sure this can be overcome

Sheffield was as good as ever, sections were even harder, especially in reverse as Dougie found out to his cost. At halfway stage he was leading and looking back to his best form, but the Montesa man was found out by the big jumps and even fell on his final race-he was not in contention then though. Raga took pole spot with Tony Bou as runner up. Marc Vinco was terrific at half time with his cycle skills and I was the one who caught his shirt in the crowd - it stank! Wonder if Dougie would benefit from a return to two strokes, think Beta may be a couple of riders short now. Happy new year to all.

Thought I'd set up a poll to see if our votes tally up with the ones at http://www.indoortrials.com (we can see who is winning as the votes come in)

According to rankings published on the Todotrial website, Doug Lampkin is the best trials rider in the history of the sport. The rankings are determined by number of WTC wins, second place, third etc. It only really confirms what we all thought all along. Todotrial

Sorry If this has been covered, i've been away from trials for a while doing enduro, so this is new news to me. Anyone think Doug can nail another podium 1st on the Beta ...... or has he spent to long on the 4rt to pick up a 2t and ride it as well as he did ? If Bou's anything to go by then the 4rt seemed to bring him on ! ........................ Hope Doug finds his his 100th on the Beta, good luck for 2008 to the Lampkin clan.

From what I'm hearing Toni's injury after training is nasty. I'm hearing he's not riding the opening WC round in Spain and it won't mend on its own.Might be a surprise turn up , but I doubt it. It's clearly a pity for Toni and throws the opportunity of a rare win to someone else.

If Toni wasn't riding, this would've been Alberts year, his riding style is so natural and clean. I thought he rode best at Sheffield this year too. I can't see much wrong with this.... http://youtu.be/7ox0dTY0BSE

Well that's that sorted then! Glad at least I now know and won't be going to the airport and hanging around on the offchance I might fly. I now have two days booked off work and nothing to do Well actually I have plenty to do and a lot of it TC related. Be a shame to miss the opening round to see how much controversy there is with the new rules, but it's the riders stranded trying to get out there I feel sorry for. For me it's just a hobby. For them it's their bread and butter

I'm talking about taking the title from him, not just beating him at one round (Cabby did that indoor, this year, actually.) As riders get away from 22/23 years old (Bou's age, not surprisingly) they generally get a bit worse each year, slowly of course. So not Cabby, not Raga, not Fuji, not Dougie, as they are older than Bou. Fajardo is roughly the same age as Bou, so he's got a shot, but he finished 7th today, so I'm not too confident. James Dabill is maybe only a tad younger than Bou, but as great as he is he would have to make an unrealistically large improvement? Wigg is younger, and phenomenal, but has too much ground to make up. I see at least a record EIGHT w…

I think my maths is right here and that with tonight's victory Toni Bou has now toppled Dougie Lampkin in terms of world championship titles and now has 13 world championships under his belt. 7 indoor (x-trial) titles : 2007-2013 6 outdoor titles : 2007-2012 He also shows little sign of being caught by any of today's riders and unless tomorrow's stars make a very quick leap I can't see him being challenged for another 5 years (another 9 championships) I think its fair to say he is now without doubt the greatest trials rider ever. Can he be caught by anyone in the next few years??

Is Jeroni Fajardo staying with Beta for 2016? Just seen Loris Gubians announcement to do WTC / French champs for 2016 where he says 'I'll share my place under the structure with Jorge Casales' No mention of Fajardo. Is it like an A and a B team set up? Or is Fajardo potentially on the move?
