Trials Transport

Hello! Does anyone know of any way to transport a bike around without a tow bar? I've got a VW Scirocco and the Mrs has a T-Roc, but she has to get it serviced at a VW garage and they've just quoted silly money to get a tow bar fitted. It would be cheaper for me to just buy a used van but I don't have anywhere to store it. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Is there a potential boot rack system that could carry the weight or any other mods? Cheers, Ollie

so say you did want/need to transport your trials bike in a car .. assuming you removed the front wheel ...any advice on how to protect the forks also how to stop the bike falling over ? or is lying the bike on its side on a tarp an option ? Cheers

Hi I am looking to buy a van, I have seen the Fiat Doblo's driving around and they look like they would be a good size, as they appear to be slightly larger than the same age Vauxhall combo (2003ish). Has anybody got any experience with this van, Ideally I will be wanting to fit in 2 bikes on the odd occasion! Otherwise I think I am going to be going down the route of an older style combo van. I'm thinking about purchasing a Merc Vito 112 - any idea what sort of mpg I might expect if driven reasonably, both around town and on longer weekend jaunts. Any pros and cons that you may like to share would be much appreciated. Thanks fellas

Saw this motorcycle sport trailer at a recent motorcycle show. Was pretty flash in the flesh and could even carry a camp stretcher or two to sleep in for an overnight trials comp??? The front compartment has battery for lighting and a big area for dirty gear... muddy boots et cetera, hose out when home??? Cost was just under 10,000 english pounds.... don't know if thats good or bad in England? It was $18,000 hearer and seemed reasonable value for the fit out. You can even cook up a storm at lunchtime ...on the bar-b-cue!!! It also has water tanks. I would like it to have a bit more clearance for off-road towing to get into the harder camp ground accesses? One of the headlights on my LDV Cub (rebadged Nissan Vanette) has failed. No biggie, but I can't work out how to remove the headlight unit so that I can replace the bulb! I've tried every retaining bolt and clip in the vicinity but the unit remains very securely attached. If anyone has one of these beasts and acan point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. I currently own a citroen saxo. I'm thinknig of saving up for a 4x4 but until that time comes, I need something to transport my bike (when i buy it) to its destination. Would I be able to get a bike rack for a saxo? Or better to just get a tow bar and trailer? What sort of expense would I be looking at? I live in the north east so that guy down kent who does quality trailers wouldnt be much use to me

I'm shopping for a first trials bike and a new (used) car at the same time. I'm looking at different minimal setups for hauling, either enclosed or on some sort of class 2 (1 1/4", 350lb tongue weight) hitch carrier. Most carriers are for Class III hitches and fuel economy really suffers with that capacity vehicle. Trying to avoid a trailer too but need to read more on that. The Honda Element is one of the best candidates i have come across so far. A trials bike should fit fine with some fork compression, or maybe deflating the tire, spinning the bars down in the clamps. Hi all i am new to the world of trials and i have just bought gas gas txt pro 03 125. i was wondering about theft insurance. is it covered by your home insurance? or is there somewhere i can get it from? Any help would be much appreciated ! Cheers!

As I am 17 and have booked my driving test I am currently looking for small vans which can fit two bikes in. First looked at Ford Connect but they are too expensive for my first vehicle so was wondering about a Vauxhall Combo. Can anyone that has one tell me if they fit two bikes in and please could they post up a picture? I don't want to buy a van and end up with it only fitting one/none bikes in! You may be thinking that a car with a rack would be better for me but van insurance is alot cheaper than car insurance for a 17 year old! Many thanks

Just got myself a vivaro and intend on stripping out the back and starting from scratch. Has anyone got any pics or ideas for a good layout? Ie. good places to build hidden storage for oils and lubes and riding kit etc. has anyone ever raised the ply off the floor and built a draw underneath?? Hello All, Just getting started in trials and I'm looking at the best way to transport bikes in the back of a van. The proworks quickload system looks like it would be ideal but I'm not sure if trials bikes would be too narrow for the footpegs to fit into the footpeg clamps, the system looks like it's designed mainly for MX/enduro bikes. Could anyone give me an idea of the width of trials bikes from footpeg tip to footpeg tip, or let me know if the quickload system is already in use by anyone on the forum? Has anyone got one of the new shape VW Caddys? Will a trials bike fit in? Im pretty sure that one will but i'd like to be sure before I go and buy one!

Looking to downsize to a smaller van, like a Caddy or Connect? Can you get a bike easily into the SWB Versions of each, with wheel turned Will 2 bikes fit? I am plumping for a 2 litre Caddy, but the new Connect is hard to ignore as it's a lot cheaper Anybody got experience of either brands?

Can you get a Trials bike (4RT) in the back diagonally with tailgate up or is it tailgate down? Can you get 2 bikes in with tailgate down Is loading easy enough on the higher bed, compared to an average barn door van ? Just thinking about a pickup over the Van Any other downsides ? (except the obvious lack of security & bike on view etc)

Hi, Can anyone point me in the right direction to Registering an 30 year old OSSA with the DVLA, I would like to Road Register the Bike, I bought it as a Restorastion project without any Paperwork, dont know if it ever was registered. I am super psyched about the Transit Connect comming to the States. As long as we don't ba$tardize it like the Focus it should be a good thing. Ford Transit I have always liked the Sprinter unfortunately I don't work for that company. I do work for this one but have not had an opprotunity (yet) to put it through the paces. I don't think that we will get the diesel but I have a couple of questions for you EU boys/girls It looks like it will take two bikes. Am I correct? It looks like i could put a full size cot in there maybe two. Have you done this? I would guess that a bunch of you use these. I am not worried about the whole reliability thing. I am on the fix…
