Hello I've recently bought this Tiger Cub built by Fred Hardy; I have his hand written notes on the various mods he had built into it. I believe that Fred sold the bike to Phil Clarkson of Leyland some time ago. Does anyone recognise the bike? Will the modifications mean that it would have to enter as a "Special" in Pre 65 club trials? Thanks Magnus

  3. Started by old trials fanatic,

I have waited a bit to post this and thought long and hard about how to word it so that it doesnt seem sour grapes. Well been unsucessful so if it appears so perhaps it is a bit but i am generally interested as one of the clubs i ride at, which will remain nameless, apply tie breaks in what i feel is a strange way. Let me explain. I am not that good a rider but enjoy my rides. Sort of a midfield dabber and wobbler on the Clubman route. Now the other weekend i had a particularly good ride and all yes all the guys who always beat me had a bad day or suffered mechanical trouble. This resulted in this dozy old fart actually finishing on 1 mark lost unfortunately this was …

  6. From the Bemrose with 200 entries and over subscribed, to this weekends round with an enrty of approx 35% that number. Many top names who competed in the earlier rounds appear to be dropping out each round. So! Where is everyone? Why are the entries declining each round? What's gone wrong with the championship? Other classic championships appear to be going from strength to strenght ie, the PJ1 Northern British Bike Championship and that's without twin shock classes.

I need the chrome front pipe for a Bultaco Sherpa 49 - the original horizontal type not the kit version as fitted to type 80 for the downward pointing silencer. There are none available in the UK at the moment, I've tried the US with Hugh's, Hogans and a couple of others but no luck. I've found a website in Spain for Romeromoto and they have them but I can't speak Spanish and his English is not too good - communications have failed after a couple of e-mails.... He has them but I just can't order one... Does anyone know of anywhere that has these exhaust pipes for sale? Mr Greeves - do you know of anywhere in Spain that I can get one from? They must be available somewhe…

I'm planning to put a Bultaco rear wheel on a C15. I also have the swingarm and am wondering if it may be a better idea to install that also. From what I read, the C15 arm has limited tire clearance and is improved if made longer by an inch. C15 type mounts could be welded to the front of the Bultaco arm to accomplish both. Has anyone done this? Are there other recommendations?

  13. Started by cub200,

A few years ago I bought a couple of brand new oval alloy barrels from a supplier who shall be nameless in the UK and fitted one to my trials Cub. After about two events it had smoke and oil spewing out all over the place and required stripping. I found that the liner had spun in the barrel which misaligned the oil drainage holes resulting in the problems I experienced. I tried contacting the supplier who ignored me completely and I would add that the supplier wasn't UPB, AWR or Armac, but he is well known around the UK. Can anyone tell me if this problem was rampant or was I just unlucky getting a couple from a bad batch, I have always been afraid to use the ot…

  15. My father, Tom Ollerton, who was a very keen rider in the 1950s and 60s has passed away at the age of 91. Dad was a very active member of Darwen Motorcycle Club in Lancashire, and competed in the Scottish Six Days Trial many times. He worked for many years at Anelays Motorcycles in Blackburn, who were the original concessionaires for Bultaco in the UK. In 1962 Dad became the first man to ride a Bultaco in the Scottish (his was the only Bultaco entered that year). He rode it again in 1963 where, once again it was the only Bultaco entered. In 1964 he was joined by Oriol Bulto, who was most impressed by the modifications that Dad had done to his machine to convert it to a t…

As many of you will know, we had to cancel the Retro65 2 day trial due to be held near Welshpool a few weeks ago. 60 entries were needed to make running the event financially viable and at the closing date we had only received 26. On the same weekend the Scarborough club ran a two day, Westmoreland club held a round of the Sammy Miller series and then there was the Euro Trial in Gloucestershire. Are there too many events or should we have followed the trend and opened the trial to Twin Shocks, Air cooled Mono's, Trail bikes etc. and had two routes instead of trying to run a genuine classic bike trial with a single route?

Hi there! I am converting a street tiger cub into a trials bike. The bike was sittig arround the house for a decade, and never have time to start the project. After seeing a couple of tiger cub trials bike I decided to convert my street cub into a trials. First of all I want to do a quick mock up and start the engine as it is now (with the street gearbox) After that I will change the gearbox for more low end power and better climbing caracteristics. I alredy bought a mid 70's front fork from a kawasaki ke 125 and now I want to lace new rims to the existing hubs. I have a couple of questions for the more experienced here In first place I want to know if I can use a wm3…

Sadly the enthusiastic Bates family have cancelled the above event that was going to run this Saturday 22nd October due to lack of entries-just 20 entries recieved that would have run on sections used pre 65 for the British Experts Trial.
