I got out on my bike today and after a couple of hours of pottering about the bike started spluttering like it was running out of fuel I didn't realise I had it on reserve already I got half way back to the car park and the engine cut out topped up the tank and when I re started it wouldn't idle so I adjusted idle and started to ride off when the bike spluttered and died. Now the bike won't start and there is no spark new plug or old riders where I was said it might be the stator as is a common problem does anybody know how to check them so can rule this out before I drain the coolant again! I have multi meter and the fly wheels off. Bikes a 2007 rev3 250

Just thinking out loud...not something I'm gonna do yet, 'cause mines OK... BUT.. seems like quite a few people experience niggling problems with their Beta mikuni carbs...(which I know before anyone gets upset) can be sorted out.... anyway..my point is...it seems on many other bikes like Gas Gas Sherco etc, people switch to a different carb alltogether. Never really heard of anyone doing it on a Rev3....and so I was just wondering why...just curious??... yes probably mindless curiousity..but there you go...any comments will be interesting to me at least

Reet, you're all gonna be fed up of me 'cos I've just bought a Rev-3 and as any regulars of the GasGas forum will tell you, I ask some dumb-ass questions. It's an extremely clean, little-used 2003 270 - so little used in fact that the engine's still slightly "tight" and it's closest that I'm going to get to a new bike in the forseeable future so I'm as happy as <insert reference to something very happy>. I'd like to get hold of a manual, if such a thing exists. Not because the bike needs any work at the moment but I always like to know the factory-recommended amount of gearbox oil, fork oil, premix ratios and the like. Does such a thing exist in downloadable form…

Is it just me and my Rev3? I've noticed that when dropping down steep / long inclines my Beta acts like its trying to load up - kind of burbles a bit making me want to blip the throttle to clean it out (doesn't want to idle very well till the terrain flattens out). Is this only my bike, a Beta trait (raw gas getting dumped in the inlet tract when the carb throat is pointing toward middle earth), or something that happens on all bikes?

Hi All I'm new to this forum so first of all a big hello to everyone and thanks to everybody that has posted in this forum, I've found some really useful information. Secondly, I've just baught my first bike, a Beta Rev 3 270cc 2000 model. When I got it I didn't know much about it, and thought the gearbox oil was the engine oil, not knowing the oil needed to be mixed with the petrol I filled it up with pure petrol You can imagine my horror when I realized that 1/3 of the way down the manual from the beta website changes to English and says that the oil needs mixing with the petrol. So, Foolishly, without any precision, I poured a little oil into the tank. Anyway, I…

Hi all, Ive been working on my 2006 beta rev 3 trails bike for days now trying to find the cause for an issue im having. Bike runs and idles ok although the exhaust does pop a little but im unsure if this is normal with it being a two stroke. The issue im having is that when i rev it up even on the stand and in neutral, the bike takes way longer than expected to return back down to idle. Ive chased a whole host of potential problems and I cant seem to find any faults. ive checked the airbox for cracks or holes and found none, ive checked the airbox to carb rubber boot and found no issues there and then ive taken the carb apart and cleaned out all the ports by s…

Hi First time for me on these forums and soon to be first time for me on a Beta after 12+ years on a Gasser I have been a Gas Gas rider since 1995 and always loved them, however with maintenance time becoming scarce I have decided to move to the less time/maintenance intensive Beta. Having ridden a 250cc and a 270cc I have ordered a 270cc, primarily as it appears to offer more low down grunt and grip (please correct me if I am wrong on this!) I have heard people discussing the carb issues on the Rev3's and am now wondering a) exactly what the issues are?? and what I need to ensure is done to the carb before I collect my shiny new bike?? I have spoken with the …

Anybody know what the thickness of the stock 2013 300 EVO 2T is? I'm thinking of dropping some compression with a thicker gasket before this thing kills me.

Hi, I've just sold my 2000 270. Before I sold it it was running perfectly and had just been serviced with a new plug, filter, oil, etc prior to the lad coming to have a look at it. The lad rode it at my place taking it all the way through the gears - rang his mate who had a Beta for any advice and was happy to take it away. He had it for a few days and he said it was running perfectly. He decided to drain the tank and alter the oil/gas mix - I had it at 75:1, he went for 70:1 - cleaned out the carb and changed cleaned the plug. As soon as he had done all this the bike - he says - ran like a pig; OK upto a third throttle then lumpy and misfiring. He told me he phoned hi…

I've just bought a '96 Techno 250 and I'm just figuring it out! The clutch drags but the great posts on here have pointed me in the right direction with that! With regards to the brake disks, are the disks themselves floating? The disks look 'loose' to me but the previous owner says it's normal?? What gearbox oil is recommended and how much is normally required? What's the best oil to use also? Thanks in advance Steve Edit - Just found out it's a '96 Model with the Orange and Grey colour scheme.

Hi all My other post was becoming a little off topic so thought I'd start a new one. Basically, I've got no spark at the plug. It's got a brand spanking stator on it, I've cleaned the plug, checked for splits in the wires, checked the cut out switch, cleaned up the terminals on the coil, so no my next best bet is the CDI right? Wrong? Any other suggestions? Am I correct in thinking it will still run with this connector block disconnected? Obviously, I'll have a hard time stopping the engine, but for the time being I'm just after a spark. Much appreciated Glyn

So how is everyone liking there new Evo's? I'm saving for the 290 near for end of the year, so I'd like to get feedback from people who have put some miles on it. How is the power on hills compared to the 270 Rev? Is the motor quite a noticable improvement over the 270 which you can't really complain about? How long of a ride can you get from the little tank? Trail riding average I'm guessing 1hr???? Trials about 1.5hr?? So ya, just brag about your new bike, I'd like to hear the goods and the hopefully few bads! Thanks guys! Cheers

My mate has had his EVO for about a year now and at first it would just randomly stall all the time which we though was due to a blob of aluminium rattling around in the fuel tank left over from where the previous owner had filled a tapped hole with weld! We thought it was cured but its still stalling all the time but pretty much only when the rear wheel is lifted off the ground. So far he's done all the usual things like: New spark plug Factory settings on carb Cleaned carb Checked reeds New fuel filter Reset float level Throttle cable adjuesments Idle adjustments New air filter But we still have this REALLY annoying problem! I seem to remember having…

Hi all I was having an occasional stall. It seems like it would just run out of fuel. Totally not reproducible deliberately. Plenty of spark on the plug. I checked the fuel line. I checked the petcock. I checked the vent hoses. I have dissembled the carb more times than I can count. I can now take the carb out in less than 1 minute. I have cleaned the carb many times after first taking it apart. All the orifices are open. I have checked the float level. It now hardly runs at all! I can start it but now there is no bottom end and it runs very fat. Help
