Gas Gas

Stripped carb again. Changed idle jet and re set the float and changed oil to Putoline. Starts fine, but still splutters. Played around with plug gaps (got three set up) Still not smooth. Stutters and not as crisp as I would like to think it should be. Hesitant and then bursts into life. I am always mindful of what me and my mate say about issues. If you think it's fuel it's probably electrics and vice versa. Are there any other check or thoughts out there please? Getting a bit frustrated now.

Just bought my girlfriend this bike so we can ride together took it out for the first time got her on it off up the hill she went got towards the top bit to stiff and a bit too much throttle and up she came flipped off the back on grass nothing to bad she was ok pretty much just stepped off it ,but now the bike has no spark can anyone help I've started stripping but just need a bit of help now all plugs connecters look ok many thanks Dave (bristol )

doing an overhaul of the bike and it needs new seals on the front forks. Can someone tell me what parts i need to order please ? i hate to do just the seals to find out later some other parts should have been done at the same time. Tia,

Hello, This appears to be a common thread on these bikes - as in they can be hard to start. My '09 250 TXT Pro just depresses me to be honest, it's getting to the point where I choose not got use it as it will play up at some point by not starting. I've a KTM 200 Enduro bike and that's a dream to boot over in comparison! The GG has got a 36D needle on the 3rd clip position from the top, a 118 main, a 33 idle and a 70 starting jet (I've tried a 90 in there with no success). Mixture screw is about 3 turns out from fully closed. It does tend to start eventually with the choke on, but it's not exactly a first kick even in that scenario. Hey, All!!! I've got a 2010 280 Pro TxT with the 40mm aluminum Marzocchi forks I'm working on. Wasn't too sure the videos at Gas Gas USA were "relevant" for these forks, so that's why I'm posting here...... I started out doing (what I thought was...) a simple oil change of the forks. I took the fork legs out, after loosening the caps. Removed the caps, springs, & spacers, and then turned each fork leg upside down in an oil drain pan, and let them sit that way over night. The oil looked thick & yuckky. Not much yuccky oil came out, but so far so good? Next day, I thought while these forks were this far apart, I'd see If I could get my previously stuck rebound ad…

Hi all, as you can see from my post title my bike has died, A sorry attempt at taking up a sport if ever there was one. Whilst on my first day ride out at Kinnerstons farm, Llangollen, the engine made a few funny clicks followed by fast tapping. Turns out small bits chipped of the edges of the ports, scored the side of the piston then got smashed against the head for a few seconds before dying. lost compression etc. Problem seems to be finding a replacement barrel/piston/head. Its an old bike and the odd similar parts i've seen are asking for silly money (£170 for a barrel). Does anyone know if i can fix it some how cheaper, re line the barrel etc. Failing that w…

Hello All, I am relatively new here and I would appreciate your input. I just purchased a 2002 TXT 280 Pro that appears to have had little use over its life. From my research of the past posts, it looks like this specific bike has had high failure rates of the trans, clutch and you need to start it correctly to prevent failures. With the small trans oil capacity I need to change oil more very often. We purchased the bike for a very good price as it was not running and needs tires. I cleaned the carb and changed fluids over the weekend. It started up with little effort and it is a very nice running bike. The old trans oil looked good and the clutch seems to work just…

As above, my '14 model came standard with a JJH needle which I have always felt was a little lean coming into the mid-range. I'm just curious if GG has changed this needle as std between then and now ? If so what is it please.

Hi I am trying to make my throttle lighter . I've tried oiling the throttle tube doesn't make too much difference. Personally i see no piont in them as its just GasGas's way of clearing the old 07's before the 08's come out. all you do is get a normal 07 the trick it up and tune it and its just as good and less expensive. The only thing thats different on the RAGA to the TXT is the exhaust position, different carb setting (both of which you can do on an 07 TXT) and the shock absorber is different. apart from that the other suff does not make a differnce. stickers etc painted swinging arm etc. What do other people think??

Got a leak in my master cylinder hose, so I took it apart to replace the hose and found this fairly soft black rubber item inside the master cylinder. It did was not attached to the lid so when I removed the lid it remained in the master cylinder. There doesn’t seem to be any hole in it so I’m pretty sure that the fluid goes into the master cylinder before this does. I can’t see any purpose for it, it just seems to reduce the volume of the cylinder! What’s it’s purpose and do I need it in there? Thanks

Hi chaps,i need to sort this dragging clutch out on my sons bike.its not a major problem but i just want it right for him. I`ve been advised to buy a new clutch pack,but before i do,has anyone had the same problem??,i know about measuring the plates etc,but i`ve been told that it could be the `o`ring behind the top hat thingy behind the casing thats worn. The lever is nice and light,clutch operation is smooth,and yes i have back bled the clutch from the casing. Another thing is that although its dragging when lever is pulled back to the bars,the biting point is in what i would say is a normal position. Got any tips??? Thanks in advance

My 2012 GG 250 Econo is coming on Wednesday... What is the recommended type transmission fluid for this bike? Also, its coming with Pirelli tires, which I am not familiar with. Any likes or dislikes about the Pirellis? I've heard that I should run 3 psi and 6 psi, rear and front. Thanks!

Revised to account for developing scope.... Went out for a run this morning and noticed what looked like a leak, wasn’t sure if it was from the cylinder or the bike had boiled over. Checking it out when I got back in, looks very much like a leak... thought it was idling high. Backfire on one of the kickstarts a tell tale. Hi could anyone tell me what length this front pipe is on my bike (long or short), it was supposed to have a short pipe put on it but something tells me it is a long. i will post a pic.

Another thread on top of the ones I’ve been googling.... bike is back together and as clean as it’ll never be again.... finding the setting of the chain adjusters a bit confusing, not used to snail cams yet and a little unsure about the tension/alignment on the GG. Is it normal / expected to end up 4 notches out? Some points to consider: Chain tension is coming what looks to be ok at 10 from the end (pointy end - thumb’s worth of gap and some slack in the arm). Bike is a 2018 TXT 300 pro and I ride closer to sea level 90% of the time. I'm on my fourth tank of fuel and used up most of some leftover Motul 710 2t mixed at the manual recommended 67:1. Seemed to run great without excessive smoke other than a bit a pig to start compared to any other bike I've owned(plan to try a few recommended tactics) Considering trying Motorex Cross power 2T or Maxima K2 next which are readily available in the area. Motul 800 would likely be overkill and has a much higher flashpoint. Not sure about stretching Motul 710 to 80:1 which sounds lean on oil. Looking for a couple recommendations on tried and trusted oils and if most guys leave …

Has anyone had a problem with the plastic fuel tanks swelling on the latest gas gas ? My tank has increased by 20mm in length and has to be forced back into the frame making the fuel tank bow causing a gap between the frame and fuel tank

Hi Guys, My 1998 txt 270 is puzzling me when it takes over 30 kicks to start it! it never used to be like that! but once its runng is fine and will start frist kick after that! The bike is a quick bike, it has slow action throttle on it and makes no difference what so ever. I cleaned airbox and filter, pulled carb off and cleaned it, only thing i noticed was on the chock jet, the rubber O-ring was a bit perrished on one side, so im not sure if that would stop it starting? I replaced the plug in it, for a new one too. any suggestions? Cheers Regards, Colin
