Hi, just picked myself up a 2009 txt 250 in lovely condition. It does however have a really bad rattle / knock that you can hear at idle. It disappears when you pull the clutch in. You can also here it at slow speeds in low gears. It sounds rough as hell lol. Please tell me it’s normal!

I just picked up a 2001 321 TXT and had couple of question for you GasGas owners. 1) The four bolts that hold the seat and fender unit together. What's the secret to getting the bolts to thread properly? I must have spent two hours trying to put those back in after cleaning my air filter! 2) Anybody know where I can get a service manual for this bike? Last but not least is there any other modifications that should be made to this bike? It's bone stock from what I can tell. Thanks

Hi, been having a flick through as I'm a newbie, not only to this site but trials in general. I've been to see a few trials and joined the ACU as well as a local club. I've got hold of a bike, a 1996 Gas Gas 250 Contact. It's rough around the edges but was blooming cheap! Only problem is, I can't get the bugger started! I've started at the carb, cleaning all the gunk, sand and rubbish out. Checked there's a spark which there is. Cleaned all the rubbish and mud from all I can see wiring wise. But still can't even get a splutter. With the plug out I set the engine to bottom dead centre (screw driver down the barrel) and squirted in some easy start (straight into the bar…

I'm about to change the fork oil for the first time, and got some questions There's a little screw in the bottom of the fork, is that for draining the oil ?? When the oil is drained, must i open the large nut at the top of the fork leg or what ??? The bike is a 280 - 2003 Best regards Christian

I have a chance to buy a brand new 2017 Gas Gas contact 250, but couldnt help to notice that it is priced significant lower than all the other 250s in the class including a Gas gas 250 TXT when you compare the specs of the TXT and the contact, they are almost identical! What is the catch? if there is any. Does anyone with trials experience know these bikes? the contact seems to be new in the gas gas trials line! I m contemplating to get one Saturday. Folks, new to the forum, GG and trials generally.... can be found on other forums under same ID. Just bought the above as my first trials bike.... the guys who make this look easy must be magicians! Hard, especially in soft sandy stuff! Bike is ok for its age, used but used ok and looked after well..... seems to have starting issues, or you need to be a 2T Jedi to get the thing to kick! Sometimes I can start it ok, other times I can't get it to fire at all. Couldn't get it to start whe it was hot (outside also, low 30's, moderate humidity), was running ok but when I killed it to take a break, it wouldn't come back.... had to push it home! hello guys i need addvice. i did ask this a wile back and i was told it was normal anyway ive noticed if i pull the front brake leaver when the the front wheel is off the ground it stopps the wheel ok but theres movment back. and forth i didnt notices but when ive had a good look its the disc that moves is this normal????

Hello I've recently seem an '09 Gas Gas 250 Pro with a button on the handlebars that apparntly gives different power options simular to the one found on some enduro and sports bikes. It had a 'sun' and 'rain' symbol on the switch implying harder os softer power delivery according to conditions? A bit of research has turned up no information about this on here or various other site's and a friend's identical bike hasn't got one, nor has he ever heard of such a thing! Has some joker fitted a switch off a Gas Gas enduro bike to confuse the ignorant (me!) or am i just not looking for information in the right place? Recently bought a 2014 Replica and read that the spring is rated for a 70kilo rider so my question is, what's the merits in buying a heavier rated spring as I'm 96ish kilos, though bearing in mind I ride clubman and not very well at that.

I have been looking at the 2014 GasGas200 as a first bike, my questions are: would it be suitable for a 42 year old beginner at 14.5 stone! Would I be better off with a 125 2015 model from a resale point of view, in case I can't get on with trials! Would a 250 be too much for a beginner?

Hi everyone I seem to remember there have been posts regarding your Keihin set up, but can't seem to find the one I need. For your information, I have a 300 TXT Pro, flywheel weight, spacer on top of cylinder and slow action throttle. All that has really calmed it down, but since putting the spacer on the cylinder head I haven't managed to get the carb running right. I've got a JJH needle, 125 other jet and have just reduced the 45 jet to a 40 as it was very rich and i'd turned the air/mixture screw to only 1/2 a turn from fully in. What is the difference between a txt and a pro? I am totally new to trials and have recently bought a gasgas 280 which i thought was a txt pro. But reading the posts it looks like these are different bikes. The bike seems spot on but anything would with my standard of riding. Cheers Neil

searched the forum but could find what i was looking for.. what i want to no is how much ATF oil should i put in my 2002 gas gas txt 280?? iv been told 700ml by the garage i got it from, but few others iv spoken to say, 450ml and as theres no dip stick on the bike i have no idea what i should put in. I put 700ml in on the last oil change but just seems alot and to change it every few rides costs a bit.. any one help me?? im using motul dexron iii atf if that makes a difference?? thanks in advance

As above.... moved house at the weekend so had the fun part of riding the bikes from villa to villa, GG as sat for couple of weeks after it was last used and fired up ok (as well as GG do!) after a couple of kicks... when it started running it was making squeaking noises however. Engine appeared to be running fine, no issues.... a bit concerned about the noise though. Seemed to be coming from low down, maybe the water pump? Cleared after a few minutes... will kick it over and try and get a video to check myself again. Last time it was out I pressure washed it (exhaust bung in) and run it afterwards till the float bowl was empty. Common issue? Or something sinist…

Hey, All!!! I apologize if this has already been covered. I did a "SEARCH" using terms like "clutch removal" & "removing clutch", and basically struck out. Here's my problem: I'm trying to remove the clutch on my 2010 280 Pro model. I'm to the point where I need to remove the 4mm allen bolt in the center of the clutch. The bolt on my bike appears to be "stripped", and at the least, is VERY shallow. The once 6-sided hole of that allen bolt is now more or less rounded, from what I can see. I probably was the one that did this. The hex key I have that is long enough to reach down to that bolt is one with a "ball end" on one end, and that's the end I tried to use, bef…

Hi guys, Recently rejoined the trials scene after 15 years away from it and got myself a 2019 300. Now the excuse for a manual talks about adjusting the clutch feel from Soft, through medium to an aggressive setting. Currently after riding the bike (albeit 20 mins in 2 quick sessions) to get bars, brakes and clutch lever setup. I am finding the engagement a bit too long and am assuming its in the soft setting. Now the manual shows a plate/spring with multiple holes. Anybody got a guide or able to describe how to change this. Not had the clutch cover off it yet. But will do at some point this coming week. Hi guys I'm trying to remove the thermostat to replace as I'm still not confident the fan is working as it should but am having difficulty. Top right of radiator - I've removed the cir-clip holding the thermostat in. I've tried pouring hot water down the gaps to help free up the o-ring. Still the thing will not budge. I wanted to check on here first before I give it too much just in case there was any tips / technique to removing. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers James
