Went for a ride today, usual nonsense on my 04 280 Pro when I break off the shift lever. So I think no big deal I'll just play around in 1st for awhile. This worked great until 15 minutes later the top end starts making a terrible noise and the bike starts struggling then dies. This is all at idle and I really was not doing anything different than normal. I pulled it apart and the top of the piston on the exhaust side broke off along with the rings and all the other exciting things that happen. So why would it do that?! Its been running fine for months. Other possible relevant information... I use 91 Octane non ethanol gas, mix 4.25 oz of Schaeffers Premium two …

Hello everyone, I have been reading for a few months and now I could do with a little help..... I have a Gasgas txt pro 280 2005. While out the other day the bike started to run rough and lost power then cut out :-( It was getting dark so I let it cool down then gave it a kick and it started and I managed to limp home :-) The next morning I went to take a look see and the gearbox is full of coolant :-( I think it could be the water pump seal but while I am okay with the tools I have never had a two stroke before and never done any work on them. I dropped the oil (and coolant) from the gearbox and took the water pump off, I have not stripped the water pump yet. Any …

Hate to join a new forum and make my first post a problem one, but that's the way the cookie has crumbled. I come from the beautiful country of Croatia, where, bar one Ossa and another GasGas owner, trials is as a foreign word as Okonomiyaki. I really enjoy it and love these bikes, but mine is being a stubborn idiot at the moment. So this is my story. Bought the bike in '12, rode it carefree for a few summers and then stopped using it for a year while I changed jobs and moved house. Got it to the new house last July, rode it once and then during one ride it just cut out and died. Bike had no spark, I tried all the usual things but in the end I had to order a new CDI.…

Anyone know how much the new bikes are going to cost? Will the extra little features like the titanium front pipe, anodized wheels etc add to last years price? Cheers

Each time I maintain my trial motor I notice how some parts take a lot of extra time to clean or need early replacement. I use my GG 2007 as an example here, but newer models and also other makes are suffering the same issues. I'm sure other riders will have similar issues. It looks like that the manufactures are more concerned about the colour scheme of their next model than trying to handle these bad designs. I know this is delicate subject but I couldn't resist to ask for opinions. 1. airbox: very important to keep clean, but very time-consuming to do. What a joke is this 'valve' at the bottom? And the 2 studs inside that cover the screws of it? All these corners,…

Hi Guys, My first post on here, I'm hoping somebody can help as there is so little information available on the web for Gas Gases of this age. My old (but reliable) year 2000 250 (249) TXT runs absolutely fine generally but I've very recently road registered it and this overheating problem has only reared its head since I've taken it on relatively long runs (only a few miles though!). I noticed that it gets extremely hot on the road, and only at low speeds really. So much so that it actually smokes from the exhaust, not normal 2-stroke smoke, but hot smoke smoke! It smells like burnt oil...you know, bloody hot oil! The whole exhaust system is ridiculously hot, far t…

Hi all, After a couple of hours riding today, as I was about to put the bike in the van I noticed a small amount of gearbox oil on the bash plate and the gbox overflow had done exactly that - but it looks kinda white where it leaves the box. I then noticed that the sight glass was showing as though the gearbox was full with frothy oil....bugger! On returning home and unloading the bike I noticed the oil level was back to normal in the sight glass - about 4mm above the bottom and didn't look frothy at all. I then checked the water level and that's ok. I started the bike and left it running for about a minute and nothing happened - no overflow. ( I know I should have l…

I have. 2004 TXT 280 Pro. Jetting is per recommendations here, fan comes on when it should, running proper coolant, fresh radiator cap. No oil in transmission fluid. I have cleaned and hosed out radiator externals. Running 80:1 using race gas. Problemwas worse with pump gas. Admittedly I ride in San Diego which gets warm, and I do some climbing, but whenever I shut the bike off I can hear the coolant gurgling and boiling. Any ideas?

2009 125 has all of a sudden developed what seems to be a very heavy/stiff clutch when engaging. Nothing has changed other than a recent change of lever. There is plenty fluid in the resivoir and the clutch itself is working ok. Any theories on what might be the issue ?

ok, this may open up a can of worms or just show how ignorant i am to these bikes. awaiting the arrival of my bike but trying to get my act together so when it arrives i can get on it and ride. i was told to ONLY use 380cc atf-f. then someone said 600 and the spec book says 400. totally confused. also, i was told 94 octane gas is fine premixed 80:1 to 100:1 (depending what kind of riding i am doing). then i was told i have to use special 112 octane gas. Which is it? thank you in advance for helping me sort this out. want to do right to the bike and not F it up first day.

Hello all. My first post here, but I've been reading up a LOT, for weeks in fact, on clutch discussions for my bike. But I'm baffled on two things: 1) I cannot, for the life of me, manage to remove my clutch assembly, even after removing the center bolt. Is it possible that on my particular model, there is another retaining part that is preventing its removal? I've seen a few videos, including Jim Snell's, and they just casually remove the assembly. On one video, he lightly bumped/pried with small pry bars to dislodge it. But it just doesn't work for me. In all honesty, that isn't my biggest problem, since the assembly doesn't HAVE to come out. 2) Reassembly problem. T…

2012 300cc, currently running it on 70:1 which works out at 71ml per 5L (5000ml / 70 = 71.4ml) BUT My exhaust tip has quite a bit of black sticky residue around it and it does smoke a little when running, more so than my previous bikes. So could/should I start adding a little less oil?

I've just bought this 2012 300cc from a shop and it's being delivered tomorrow. They've said they believe the previous owner had put all the bling bits on including s3 head and red Klein carb etc so it's not a true factory Raga rep. It has some raga bits on it but also does not have black rims so I think the shop may be correct. So does anyone know what model it actually is? More pics to follow later
