Quite happy with the way this is going so thought i`d put a couple of pics up to see what you guys think. I`ve got a new in-motion seat cover to fit and give the bike a good check over but its running well enough since the mikuni carb conversion has been fitted. Hasn`t been a cheap build but okay considering the state it was in when I got it. Another one saved from the scrap man.

  4. Started by sherpa,

decided to use the top end off another 340 that I've been restoring in order to save a little money putting my stolen bike back in service. I notice that the piston on this bike has no holes drilled in the sides as my other 340 has. Both jugs are identical. Will this make a big difference in performance? What is the purpose of the holes if the motor will run without them?

  5. Started by schmorgas,

I have a 350 Bultaco from the seventies that is a definite restoration project, but I don't know just what it is. It has twin plugs which I thought would be for a quick change over mid section if the other plug fouled. But now I'm wondering if it is a moto crosser Pursang. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter, cos' I'm going to sell it and have no idea what to ask for it.

Hi, this is my first post here. I have most of an M116 350 Alpina which I got for $100 20 years ago and I have been slowly gathering up some of the missing parts. The main things I still need are a piston and con rod kit. While pistons are available new, they are quite expensive. Occasionally on ebay I see listings for NOS pistons from other models such as 360 Astro, Frontera, etc. Are any of these suitable? I believe I am currently at standard bore but as the cylinder is quite rusty it will likely need a rebore in any case. Alternatively are there any more common Japanese model pistons which can work? Probably I should just save up and get the proper thing, but any sugg…

My 159 is currently at 1mm oversize but could do with a rebore as there is some light scoring after the small end spacer broke up. Is there a bigger oversize than +1mm or will that mean a new liner or scrap the barrel?

  8. Have fitted new points condenser and spark plug. Bike won't tickover, the air screw and throttle slide screw have no effect. The pilot jet is a 40 and main jet 123 as checked by Bultaco uk. I have had the float level and needle up and down no difference - bing carb. It starts first or second kick but just won't tickover yet you can keep it at a near acceptable tickover a speed on the throttle cable. It revs slowly. I took the silencer off (original big black thing) and was going to see dremel it and repack it but it blows through fairly easily and I just can't see it being that that is causing the issue. Any ideas? Where is the advance retard on these? I bought the manual…

Gents, I've noticed on the bultaco brochures (on Todotrial website) that the model series 124 & 150 have 1315mm wheelbase listed as opposed to 1330mm for earlier Sherpas. Can anybody tell me: 1) is that true - ie did they really have shorter wheelbase? 2) if so what was changed from previous models (M91, M80 etc)? Was it shorter swingarm, steeper rake, less offset on the triple-clamps or what? There is a bit of an explanation on todotrial, but its in spanish & I can't read spanish & it doesn't make any sense attempting to translate with my spanish dictionary or with google translation. Can anyone translate: "gracias a un menor avance de horquilla" Any…

Hi all, Could anyone tell me should there be some sort of seal/rubber betwwen the rear exhaust section and the middle silencer on a 78 Sherpa. If not what stops gasses leaking from that joint. My bike leaks from there but because I am out of country I havent had a chance to strip it yet. It would be handy to know so I can order parts ready for when i get home. Cheers Marty
