I can get m3.5 nipples in plated brass from Sweden . Trouble is the minimum UPS delivery is £17 . The spokes cost £18 for 36 . On top our rotten customs and post office are going to want to extort further . might be worthwhile if the delivery cost was spread among a few people in UK .

Hi, Just nearly at the end of Restoring my 198A. And I have a problem with the Amal Carb. I cleaned it out after soaking it in parrafin for a couple of weeks and fitted service kit to the carb but the bike will not fire up off the carb. If I tip a little fuel down the plug hole she fires straight away. I have fitted a new needle valve and checked the float is operating correctly, that is shutting off the flow of petrol when bowl is full. I fitted a new needle in the same position as the old one i.e in the middle grove of the 5 grooves. And if anyone has a list of the correct numbers for the jets that should be in the carb that might help. Any help or advice woul…

Hi all, I brought a new fibreglass seat unit from Inmotion. Having cleaned it up where it fits around tubes etc. It appears to be too wide.A pal and work colleague reckons the same and say that he had to cut his in half and remove a lump to make it fit nicely. Is this normal with this unit ? Fibreglass isn’t my thing and the thought of doing this is rather scary. But I want it to fit well. thanks, Andy

Hi there, I have recently bought a 199A, and whilst cosmetically it is very good, mechanically it has some issues. This is my first Bultaco, so some help would be much appreciated. There seems to be some funny goings on relating to the wheels. They seem to both be offset in the forks/swingarm. Is this normal or something more sinister afoot? The rear wheel rubs the swing arm unless adjusted out quite drastically. I am wondering if the hubs are from a larger bike etc. I am hopefully attaching some photos that will show the issue I'm having. Your advice is much appreciated, Thanks

Hi all, I cannot squeeze any spark out of my newly purchased Mod 199 350 Coil, condenser and points are new and set correctly At first I suspected a short to ground but after two days if thinking and tinkering it seems my flywheel isn’t sufficiently magnetic any more. Even when turning the crank with the electric drill I only get 3 V AC out of the magneto Any ideas what else could be wrong and how to overcome or test that further? Raoul

Have any of you guys had dealings with Ivan Cirre Motos, near Barcelona. I placed a order two weeks ago and have received no confirmation of shipping, or tracking number. I have sent a message through their website and a couple of emails without reply.

Dear Sirs, Some help identifying these machines would be appreciated. I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of it by the frames. The frame number of the red one points to a standard 60’s 250, but when I look at photographs of the bikes around the same year, the frame looks different. The blue one has no frame number that I can find, but looks to be nickel plated.

Also advice on the fuel tank , I don’t know if it leaks but the rough inside finish and petriol soaked interior means it can’t be sealed inside against modern fuel ,any suggestions ? i’m in Scotland so UK solutions would be appreciated Lee

Hi, while inspecting my newly acquired Sherpa 350 mod 199 I noticed a wobbly front wheel. After taking apart and comparing with the parts book I noticed that I am missing a spacer. Does anybody probably have the needed width of that spacer so that I can make one? Arrow marked item on pic! Raoul

  14. Hi all I have a 1974 sherpa t fuel tank that has been cleaned out 3 time's, but after sitting with fresh fuel in it for 20mins or so I'm getting a yellowy brow colour liquid selling in the fuel pipe. I'm wondering if these old tanks can handle new age fuel or is it slowly desolving lol. I'm thinking about cutting the outer shroud of the tank off and using some other tank underneath to keep the original look. The original tank look like it fiberglass or something. Cheers

I bought my late friend's 198A and want to finish the restoration. He left instruction that the front wheel spacer was the wrong one. Can anyone tell me the correct dimensions for this spacer or better still, where I can get one? I have an ocean of new and used parts that came with the bike but not that particular spacer! Any help would be much appreciated.

  17. Hi Guys, My local engineering company who are to ream out and then press in the steel liner into my back and front hubs has been asking what the interference fit should be. Too small and the hub might crack. Too large and the liner may come loose. My man thought it might be either 4, 6 or 8 thousands of inch. He is reluctant to take it on unless he has the correct spec that works. Any guidance appreciated. Thanks
