Hello; I have recently purchased a montesa cota mh 349. I think this is the only example in here where I live. Its funny that I bought the bike by just looking at the photos , and actually I had never seen a trials bike before :). its not something you can come by here often. The bike was brought here by a spanish family with a caravan 8 years ago and left over here when going back. well I am lucky that the bike starts and runs well, all 6 gears can be selected. is has stupid enduro mud guards and head light . Rear shocks are far gone and fork needs rebuild, kick starter is quite hard (even I am used to this with my old KTM, but this one is on the rihgt side!!!…

I fancy a Repsol 4RT for no other reason than I like them, I have been riding trials about 2yrs now and I am always in the last 1/4 of the results on the clubby B/easy course, I currently ride a 2010 250 Gas Gas which I have had to calm down by fitting a low compression head, slow throttle and dropping the front 1 (I now really enjoy riding the bike). I'm changing bikes in the new year and it's between the 4RT and a new Gas Gas. What are your thoughts on a 4RT for a crap rider ?

Hi all, As the title, i have a 315 but was thinking of modernising it and freshening it up with a 4rt rear mudguard. I have seen pics of bikes with them on so i know its do-able, but how?? Obviously it will need to be cut down at the front, and a hole drilled for the top bolt to go through but does the rear subframe need modifying to accept the rear fastening points? Thanks for any advice!

Hey guys, bought a 2003 bike a few weeks ago (LOVE IT) and other than the knock it pulls like an absolute train!! Anyway, here is the video of the knock. Some friends have suggested the small end bearing. My dad has just rebuilt his Beta Techno and it sounds like a sewing machine compared to mine now!! Any ideas? Also, I live in the UK and I can't find a small end bearing/con rod kit anywhere. Does anyone know where would be best to look? I don't mind paying overseas shipping if it is this that's the problem. Cheers

A couple of local lads bought a new 4RT each a few months back and are having issues with the fork seals. One bike sprung a leak on one leg and it was replaced under warranty. It has now blown the other seal and the other bike has also now got a leak from one seal Neither bike has had hard use as they are both novice standard and just go out and play on them, not ride trials. They've only been used half a dozen times. Another rider who had a new 4RT has said it's an issue and replacing the seals with new standard Montesa / Honda seals won't cure the problem, you have to use green seals. The dealer is miles away but will only provide standard replacements under w…

I was changing the oils in my 2005 4RT today. I found that the engine had over 900 cc of oil in it and the gearbox had about 5 cc. I don't think this is a good thing. How did all the gearbox oil get over to the engine? I found an earlier post about engine oil going into the gearbox due to a pinched breather tube. All my breather hoses are open. I put 540 cc in the gearbox and left the engine cover off to see if any gearbox oil is going to run through to the engine overnight. Does anybody have any advice or opinions?

I hope sombody can help me as this probelm is driving me mad !! Have just bought a 2001 315R Cota. Ths bike starts and runs on choke and revs up and settles down fine. When I turn the choke off this seems to starve the bike of fuel (I think?). If I don't touch the throttle the bike runs for a about 15 seconds then the revs climb and it just dies. I reckon this is fuel starvation and the revs are rising as the mixture gets weaker. I have had the carb apart, blown carb cleaner through all the holes and jets that I can see, have taken all the jets out and cleaned them. I also thought it might be an air leak so took of the carb stub and reed valve block. Have visually looke…

I haven't written anything here in years but now I have information that I think some will be interested in. This will be quite technical so bear with me. I am writing this from the standpoint that you know how the use the HRC software to change the mapping in the ECU. More info to come. Background Almost a year ago now I came across some software developed to flash the ECU of different Honda motorcycles. Being an engineer I started to wonder if it would be possible to use on the 4rt. I have always been annoyed that the HRC software only lets you modify fuel and spark advance in relation to some maps that are unknown. After some research I found that the flash sof…

Took the plunge recently and bought a 4RT. I'm getting along with it quite nicely, love the suspension and the power characteristics 99% of the time, the exception is hillclimbs. The bike doesn't rev high and doesn't develop power, it produces low and midrange torque by the bucketload, but when you need to really fly up a hill it won't. The bike is exactly as it came out of the box, investigation shows 3 diametric restrictors in the exhaust and one immediately after the throttle body. The one after the throttle body was the surprise, it's a disk completely filling the intake with a tiny (guess 10-13mm dia) hole punched in it low down. This I assumed was the problem, in…

Put my 2006 4RT away a few weeks ago running. Would not start today. Tore into it a bit and discovered it had spark and would fire with starter fluid. Further investigation reveled that the pump did not go on with 12V dc. No noise, no fuel no nothing. Before I send someone a whole pile of $$$ is there anything Im missing? Jason

Hi bought myself a 242 few months ago. I'm surprised how little there seem to be around. What's the reasons for this any ideas? Also is there a way of stiffening up front an rear suspension without spending a fortune seem to be bottoming it all out. But I am 17st so not really surprised. Thanks in advance

Just looking at some used 4RT bikes recently to buy .......................I've had a 2005/2006/2007 4RT before and used prices seem to be going up lately.................lack of supply In comparision to other brands of trials bikes, they seem to represent not good value today For example a 2008 Beta 4T 250 from a main dealer can be had for

Apparently there will no more 260 race reps for model year 2014, if you want one you'll have to wait for 2015. They've sold out and apparently the uk isn't getting anymore, so if you want a 260, you'll have to have the standard one. I know of a couple of people who have been waiting quite a while for one and were expecting to get them in march/April and are rather miffed about it. Maybe someone from Honda could verify this to all it customers waiting,

Hello everyone, I'm trying to make my 348 as original as is practically possible (money limiting at the moment). This is the first bike I've ever rebuilt, and I'm attached to it, so I wont ever be selling my 348, as I'm only 19 too, I'm going to have it a long time! I thought it'd be best to gather all the original bits before they become too rare. I have already bought a complete-ish donor bike, which seems fairly original, but has been in a house fire. I picked it up from a salvage yard for
