If you are talking about the bolts on the spring, just use a small chisel to loosen. Then buy the 7mm head replacements used on the newer bikes. Quite simple. If you are in a huury use the chisel to re-install.

To Graham, nothing worse than a highside crash. Tried a new `line ` to clean a section at the 2002 Texas national. Landed head first into a rock which broke my helmet in two places. I spun around and caught my 2001 rev 3 with my hands and feet straight up, bike never hit the ground. A friend saw the crash and purchased the bike later in the day. He was not concerned since all the damage was to my body. Good luck with the shoulder. Six months after the above mentioned crash, I was out practising hard on my birthday and took out my ACL. Just gotta love this sport. By the way ,kept the helmet best trophy ever!!

You did not mention the year or color? You are probably correct about the clutch plates. The 92 and 93 worked great. I would pull the water pump cover off and check for corrosion. It was a six speed beta`s usually shift well.

I believe the problem was the bolts on the camshaft sprocket were loose causing a timing problem that was not electrical.

local rider had a 2010 with problems , turned out to be loose bolts on timing gear. Got the story second hand, so not sure which ones had come loose.

If the techno is alot cheaper it is a fine bike to learn on. But if it is a small amount the rev 3 is way above the techno. Have almost always had Beta`s and the brand is always above most bikes in build quality and ride.

Sounds like you could have an air leak somewhere and or the mains are bad. Yes, it has too heavy of flywheel. To make it sweet shave 12-14 oz off the outside of the weight. If you`d like to challenge your clutch you could remove the weight completely.

It`s an aluminum spacer on both sides of the swing arm. You are right that no gap at all should exist. In fact it should be a little hard to do.

should have included what you are lookin` for, you might get lucky. Has to be kickstart or shifter related. New (to me) GG, and can't ride it. Very frustrating. In the years of riding and wrenching my and my buddies Shercos, I was never told that parts were out of stock. Sorry, Ryan...if I didn't get such a good price on the GG, I would never have strayed from the flock! Could be your exhaust is plugged up.

Hate to bust anybodys bubble, but you can definately ride with out the chain tensioner. In fact it is fine not to ever replace it! Make sure you have enough slack not to break your rear hub. And as long as your sprockets and chain are in good shape you should not throw a chain any easier than with the tensioner in place. Take a look at any motocross bike, see any tensioner on that long chain and take notice how much travel that swingarm has. Some riders actually remove the tensioner when new!!

I can`t remember the size of puller, but if you have a coolant leak on the flywheel side just slow down because you have a major problem. I would not spend any money on tools or parts till you find the source of the leak. I would wait and find a puller you could use for free, and not worry about the brakes or anything else besides the coolant problem. Best of luck. Hope it is actually simple!

just once, drill it out remove basket and you should be able to remove what is left easily. It is a hollow bolt, just use a drill bit to back it out.

The 4 stroke is quieter.

I don`t believe any of the bike engineers came up with the easy up stand. Seems to be a safety feature shoved down their throats.

I seem to remember we ran 11t cs and 46 or 48 rear sprocket. That will change the need for any clutch work and that mighty little engine could pull my 190 lbs up some pretty nasty hills.

Gaz you did not mention entirely how it started, I would try new pads if you really think no air in the system. Rear brakes on a Beta is the worst to bleed. I have spent days to get it right.

I have never seen oil go out the breather unless over filled or upside down.

The earlier bikes all came as a 250, but the 270 kit was available. The cylinder has no markings that I can see as I have the kit on a bike and still have the original cylinder.

If you add oil you probably lose amount of travel in the forks. Are you saying that you have used all the compression on the spring side? You could make a spacer for the spring if you have.

Had a 2002 for my son that color.

I`m pretty sure the boy only took 150-200. The full size 50(80) took the 450.

You didn`t mention how old the bike is and condition. I`d check the exhaust as the small pipes can pack up and it causes those small engines not to breath.
