If you do a search for cracked cases you will see this has happened several times before. Seems the cracked cases were usually the magnesium ones.
-
That is not the problem. You need to pull the motor and see if the center cases are broke.
-
Shocks are not as hard as people think. With that being a remote reservoir, I think it had a Schrader valve. Which makes it quite easy to release pressure and charge once you are done. Get help to take it apart. If the seal head is in reasonable good shape, all you will need is two seals and several o rings. These parts can be ordered through any hydraulic shop. Just might take a week or two. This way is much cheaper than sourcing the parts through a `kit`. Probably under 20 bucks. I did my Ohlins this way over a year ago. Good Luck!

Must have been one of mine and I recognized your user name!
-
It`s either the gasket or the kickstart seal. The seal sometimes gets pushed out. After you get the KS off the shaft, try using a socket to seat the seal again.
-
I liked the Ossa, but would not recommend any brand that is no longer in business. If you have an Ossa that actually starts, good for you. I also change elevations frequently, so jetting is much easier to me since I can do that before I show up at an event.
-
You mightbe conserned. Between the routing of the clutch line and no oil showing in the window.
-
The rev 3 were usually the best at low traction in it`s day. As previously said you need a real trials tire. Try the new Dunlap 803 Gp`s.
-
Most of the newer hydraulics are crap. Ever since 2010, but nobody wants to talk about the white elephant in the room.
-
Donor? Everything on the 2002 was upgraded. You can upgrade a 2002, but not use a 2002 to fix the crap problems. Good Luck.
-
Is the bushings for the center cases in on both sides?
-
Early 2002 pro. Plastics are weird to get. Some used the txt 80/50 stuff. Is it in the states as the muffler looks like an adapted spark arrestor/ muffler. My advice is to run, like you have never, ever seen it.
-
Have you recently done anything new. Powder coat frame? Clean bike, ride in a pond. ETC. Otherwise it`s a new stator.
-
I got all my seals and o rings from a local hydraulic shop for my ohlins for under 20 dollars. They did have to order the dust seal.
-
If you have good spark, but the bottom end is old it could be mains and/or seals.
-
Depending on age, size and ability, a good mountain bike does wonders too. The 20 inchers are a little small for most.
-
Being in the UK, you have not seen dry and dusty.
-
The 4RT is the funnest bike on the loop.

No need for more power as Marc chooses a new line.

This was a clip from the Colorado National, notice Marc Frexia is checking out my line as I pass him.

Hmm. I just set the ITSA national with a bunch of old dudes from Tennessee driving from Tennessee to New Mexico. You might ask Dustin if we actually ride. In fact let me know when you actually ride an NATC national and I`ll be obliged to see you in person. Another guy riding vintage that never could ride?
The Tennessee guys are in blue on the right. P. S. I frequently work on 3 2016 4 RT`s sure the foot peg position is better, but same answer. ( I did buy two rear fenders last week for 24 dollars each, so that was a positive) Like I said, not for me. Or I`ll be scoring the World Round in Arizona next year, just saying.

At our vintage event this weekend a gentlemen built a complete frame around this engine. Tank in the frame tube, falcon shocks, tl front end and xr wheels and brakes. Wish I had taken a picture now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Piranha-140cc-Pit-Bike-Engine-crf50-atc70-crf-50-70-atc-/390887546230 I rode it shortly after helping with a slight repair that got him through the weekend. I was actually impressed by the power of such an affordable build. I think it would have been a fun project and an easy to adapt to bike to ride in a short distance trials.

It`s over! 2016 is in the books, but we already booked it again for 2017! We had a record 44 riders for our club. Hope to be even a better event next year!
-
My opinion and view only. When the 4RT came out in 2005 I rode one for about fifteen minutes and that was enough for me . Not for me. I rode a trials today with the guy that had bought that 4RT. He has had 8 new Beta`s since then. And I know at least a dozen people with the same story. Been there done that. The Montesa is a wonderfully engineered bike, just not everyone`s cup of tea.

Jim will be kind, but you should not buy A Pro model till the `04 to `05. I`d be more inclined to move.
