After a whopping 10 mins out on the bike I noticed a leak, coming from the hole in the crank-case below the water pump........bugger..... I have found a viton oil seal on a bearing web site that is the correct size, but the seal I removed was just a rubber scraper seal. Will the viton seal work, or is there a reason for it not having this as standard - will it wear the shaft. Please help.

Hi folks Can anyone tell me how to set up the rear suspension properly? At the moment I have the spring wound as tight as it'll go and the damping set so I can (try) and hop and bop, but when I ride along a trail between sections the rear bottoms out and the exhaust rubs on the rear tyre. any help would be great. Problem - the bike seems under-powered, especially when you compare it to my brothers cota 315R, I am not sure if this is usual cos I didn't expect there to be so much difference between two 250 2strokes. Perhaps reeds or maybe something else..... Any comments gratefully received. The difference is on his bike just tottering round then wind it up - front end skyward. On my bike, I have to work it hard to get same result. I only go out for couple of hours and look like I've run a marathon.......in the rain. What I'm saying is, should the power difference be expected or is there something wrong.....can this only be rectified by buying a newer bike.

Hi guys, My we bro has a 2005 scorpa sy250, just had a rebuild (about 3 months ago) but if we decide to head away for the day after about 3-4 hours riding the bike dies out and will not start again. This happened once before, we changed the spark plug ( the old one was very black) and the bike they started but took a min for it to clear itself out. i wonder is this a problem with the carb and its settings, is the bike flooding after a long period of riding. Any help on this issue would be great. thanks

Hi, I would be very grateful if anyone could post a picture or a drawing of a standard SY250 flywheel, ideally with the dimension of the outer width of the flywheel. Mine has been machined to make it lighter, the overhang has been removed plus an additional 6 or 7mm milled away so I'm planning to spot weld a 14mm wide ring to end up with a total flywheel weight of 3.1kg. It would be very useful to see what the flywheel looked like before being machined. Many thanks for your help.

Hi, the flywheel on my 06 SY250 has been machined to make it lighter, this is how it was when I bought the bike and I would prefer to use a standard (heavier) flywheel. It seems impossible to get hold of second hand standard flywheels so I'm thinking of getting my local engineering workshop to weld an outer ring onto the flywheel. Has anybody tried this and been successful? If so I would appreciate any advice that I could pass onto the workshop. Cheers

this week i bought a scorpa ty 175, very nice bike. i have not had chance to go out yet ,will do tomorrow.i have had a play out back the house and find some times it hesitates and stalls. is this because it is'nt warmed up properly or does the carb need cleaning.

Hi All, I have been offered an SY250 cheap. It has a knock which the owner suspects may be the clutch basket. I haven't heard it, but my finger of suspicion points at the bottom end, probably the big end. Does anyone know: 1. Is it possible to re-shell the big end as a home mechanic job? 2. Approximately how much will the parts be? 3. Does anyone know approximately how much a dealer will charge to repair a duff bottom end. I'll ask some dealer's too, but any rough pointers will help me decide if this is worth going ahead with. Many Thanks Graham

Hi All. I would very grateful if anyone help me a slight problem with the headstock bearing on an 07 scorpa SY. Whenever I compress the forks with the front brake on I can feel and see a slight bit of movement at the top of the headstock. Is this easily fixed ?..I have never had to adjust headstock bearings before so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

We just finished our season here (too hot to ride), so I tore the bike down to do some maintenance and get Boysen to fit some duel stage reeds. Well, to get the reed cage out just about requires removal of most of the spokes!!!!! Anyway, the exhaust is just sitting there and i remember someone stating it should be cleaned? Well this exhaust is not like my 1978 CR 125....how do you clean this thing?
